This month, I have created only three images. This is mainly because I am experimenting with various add-ons and artificial intelligence features in different programs. None of these images hold particular significance for me, and I don't see a common theme among them. Each one begins with a basic wireframe, which I then develop further.
Greetings: I've started to feel like every month has been passing annoyingly quickly, but I believe it's actually the year that's the issue. October flew by like a bullet from a gun. I have only vague memories of individual days; that's about it. I'm sure some of this has to do with the political situation, where every day seems filled with drama. I believe this is intentional, considering our leader is a reality TV host. He's doing everything he can to keep the spotlight on himself, and I think it contributes to time feeling like it's speeding by.

Really?...
..It is a new month?....

That annoying goal
Although I am still feeling unwell, I managed to get through the day as best as I could. By the time I logged out in the evening, I had only 19 runs left to complete in the quest. With Sunday approaching, I'm uncertain about how things will proceed. All I can do is give it my best shot and see where it takes me. Since it's the first day of the month, the main topic of conversation has been SNAP benefits. They have not yet been received, and it seems likely that they won't be. While I would say this situation could become interesting, I don't find anything intriguing about holding a country hostage.
Feeling kind of spent...
Focusing on my physical condition is starting to weigh me down. I understand that this issue will eventually resolve itself, but I can't help but notice that, as I get older, it takes me longer to heal. All I can do is endure it, but accepting these limitations is difficult. Currently, I am spending my personal time reflecting and meditating.
Mostly mundane...
..and that is okay....

Hit that bell
Despite grappling with various physical ailments, I persevered through the challenges of the day and triumphantly achieved my goal of completing 50 rides for the week. While the earnings have not yet been credited to my account, a common occurrence I've learned to expect, I plan to check again in the morning. Although I won't have any time off after today, I can't help but feel a deep sense of accomplishment for what I've achieved this week. It's a significant milestone that reflects my determination and resilience.
The end of the week...
As the week draws to a close, a sense of relief washes over me. Before I head into the office, I take a moment to immerse myself in organizing my legend journal for tomorrow. The thought of a pseudo new year fills me with excitement; it's not just a change in the calendar but the dawn of a new chapter in my life. Tomorrow symbolizes the start of an adventure, and I feel more than ready to embrace it.
After a long day at work, I slip into a cozy evening routine. I turn on a show to play softly in the background, its familiar tunes blending seamlessly with the atmosphere as I focus on my legend journal. The pages, soon filled with ideas and reflections, become a canvas for my dreams and aspirations. I take time to tidy up my space, each movement bringing a sense of renewal as I prepare for the year ahead. I know I've mentioned that this is a new year quite often, but it's a conscious choice I've made for myself. Rather than allowing the last two months of 2025 to slip away waiting for 2026, I've decided to seize the moment and tackle projects I've left unfinished, igniting a spark of motivation within me.
Frustration...
..with no outlet....
November 03, 2025
The math is not mathing
The drama of my day centers around the weekend rides I completed, which have become a point of contention with Uber. The app proudly reported that I had wrapped up 50 rides, a number I meticulously verified by recounting each ride myself. Yet, to my frustration, Uber insists that only 49 rides were completed, which means my well-deserved $140 payment remains elusive.
I dedicated an hour of my day navigating through the labyrinth of customer service on the phone, followed by another hour engaging in a less-than-satisfactory chat to address this glaring discrepancy. After much back-and-forth, I officially filed a complaint, hoping to get to the bottom of this issue.
Despite the gnawing irritation of this situation, I managed to keep my spirits in check and not let my frustration spill over onto my riders. I take a moment to commend myself for that restraint. Now, I aim to move forward, holding onto the belief that, whatever the outcome, I'll get through this.
Still fighting...
Today marks the beginning of my personal new year. It's Monday, a fresh start filled with potential. I've taken the time to outline several goals and have broken them down into daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks. Some might label this approach as obsessive or excessive, but I've found that being goal-oriented helps me unlock my full potential and accomplish a significant amount. While I'm not pledging to maintain this method for the rest of my life, for now, it offers me the motivation I desperately need.
These days, the political climate is creating an unsettling backdrop that makes time feel like it's slipping away too quickly. By largely tuning out the chaos and concentrating on my personal aspirations, I believe I can make meaningful progress; at least, that's the hopeful theory I'm clinging to. Unfortunately, I'm still battling an illness that compels me to delay activities, like my long-awaited return to the gym. Yet, I hold on to the belief that in time, I will reclaim that part of my routine and resume my journey toward better health and wellness.
Maybe I won...
..maybe I didn't....

Welcome to the drudge
Today was quite a challenge. After a long wait, I finally received a notification from Uber's investigation system. They informed me that they would be issuing payment for my weekend quest. However, they didn't clarify whether my claim was deemed right or wrong. Still, I'm choosing to view it as a small victory, even in the absence of a clear resolution. I know for certain that I completed 50 rides, yet they insist that I only did 49. I was ready to contest this discrepancy vigorously, but that effort seems unnecessary now. The real test of this situation will come next week when the payment actually hits my bank account, and until then, I remain skeptical.
Despite the uncertainty hanging over me, I managed to push through the day. However, the rides themselves proved to be quite frustrating. I found myself driving 20 miles to drop off a passenger who lived only 2 miles away. Although the pay for those long detours is decent, it still feels like a significant waste of both time and fuel. Each trip became a reminder of just how unpredictable this line of work can be, adding another layer of stress to an already taxing day.
Putting pieces into place...
The weekend is swiftly approaching, and with today behind me, there are only three days left until I can truly unwind. A significant portion of my precious time off will be devoted to long-overdue projects that have lingered on my to-do list, but I'm eager for this much-needed break from my daily routine. This morning, I felt the unwelcome return of a persistent cold settling into my chest, making the day feel particularly challenging; however, I persevered through the discomfort. As the week progresses, my anticipation for some well-deserved downtime grows. I've meticulously prepared for my New Year project and have already made noteworthy strides in various aspects of it. Now, it's simply a matter of letting time work its magic.

Just pushing through
Today was one of those rare days where calm seemed to envelop everything around me. With a sense of accomplishment, I found myself ahead of schedule with my weekly goals, which felt like a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed some invigorating rides, each one accompanied by pleasant conversations that flowed easily, adding warmth to the day. It's as if the world was holding its breath, caught in a moment of anticipation, waiting to see what unfolds next. As I gaze toward the weekend, I feel a sense of eager expectation, ready to embrace whatever comes my way.
Preparation time...
The weekend is just around the corner, and I can hardly contain my excitement as I anticipate two blissful days off. This time is precious to me, and I have devised a variety of significant plans, each aimed at inviting a fresh perspective on life into my daily routine. A primary focus during this weekend will be on enhancing my concentration, a challenge that has loomed over me for the past eleven months. There's been a persistent sense of being scattered, like leaves swirling in the autumn breeze, and I often find myself grappling with uncertainty about the causes.
In an attempt to navigate through this fog, I've turned to meditation, yoga, and exercise; methods I thought might anchor me. However, despite my efforts, they've felt like trying to grasp water in my hands; the clarity I seek remains elusive. Recently, I stumbled upon the fascinating world of neurofeedback services available in Memphis. Although I am aware that this field is often categorized as pseudoscience and falls under holistic practices, I find its concepts captivating. After all, meditation and yoga also tread a delicate line within similar realms of perception.
The notion of mapping my brain patterns is particularly intriguing; it beckons the idea of uncovering underutilized areas of my mind. As we age, changes within the brain are inevitable, leading to certain sections that may quiet down or become less responsive. My research suggests that this decline could potentially play a role in the development of conditions such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Whether these connections are entirely accurate, I'm unsure, but I am more than willing to delve into this exploration in the future. For now, however, this journey of discovery will have to wait, as I prepare to embrace the weekend and its opportunities for renewal.
Nope, Nope, Nope...
..not gonna do it....
November 06, 2025
Sigh, another day
I feel as though I've hit a wall in my work. It's becoming increasingly clear to me that 21 days might be my breaking point. At the moment, there's a palpable absence of joy in what I do, and I'm holding onto the hope that my rest this weekend will help rekindle that spark. I used to thrive on the daily challenges and the thrill of the unknown that each day brought with it.
A significant event colored my shift today, occurring towards the end when a young lady was placed in my car. She seemed disoriented, as if she'd been under the influence of some substance. Before I could safely get her to her destination, she suddenly convulsed and had a seizure. My heart raced as I pressed the emergency button, calling for help. In moments, the paramedics and police arrived, a flurry of activity that felt both chaotic and urgent. They expertly assessed her condition, revealing that she had likely been dosed with something that rendered her incoherent, her pupils dilated and her body unresponsive.
The entire episode consumed about an hour of my day, leaving me feeling drained and indifferent to the remaining hours ahead. Thankfully, she seems to have stabilized now, and I made sure to provide the necessary details about her pick-up location to the individual who had ordered the ride through her cellphone. The situation is now in the hands of the authorities, and to be honest, I'm eager to wash my hands of it. It feels like just another routine moment in my day, yet one that leaves a lingering shadow over my thoughts.
Uno Mas...
With today behind me, there is only one more day left until my much-anticipated two-day respite. At this point, I feel like I'm swimming against a strong current. Part of my struggle stems from my lingering chest cold, which clings to me like an unwelcome shadow. However, I sense a glimmer of improvement, a gradual lightening of the heaviness in my chest. I just need to keep pushing through and see what the future has in store for me.
I find myself longing for this weekend of relaxation, as I believe it will help me rekindle the passion and drive I've been missing. Yet, looming on the horizon is an important decision that must be made next weekend, about a week from tomorrow. It pertains to the city position in Bartlett, TN, and it could result in a significant upheaval in my life. But that's a concern for next week; for now, I will concentrate on the challenges of this week and embrace the moments ahead.
It is here...
..The time has come....
November 07, 2025
Gonna do the shorty
No, the title doesn't suggest I'm on the hunt for a little hip hop girlfriend. What it truly signifies is my exhaustion with this grueling work shift. Twenty-one consecutive days is more than enough, and today, I decided to reclaim my time. I cut my day short by about three hours, metaphorically washing my hands of the chaotic scene ahead of me.
Every time the Uber app chimed, it felt like a sharp spike piercing through my temple; a reminder of the frustration I was trying to escape. This agony was compounded by the fact that for the past three days, I found myself driving around 20 miles just to pick up a meager $5 fare. This trend of dwindling earnings always seems to crop up when there's a severe shortage of drivers. To validate this hunch, I opened the ride-hailing portion of the app while stationed downtown. To my dismay, only three drivers were available in the midst of a bustling city teeming with potential passengers. I repeated the same experiment in the quiet suburbs, only to encounter a dishearteningly similar outcome.
This predicament likely explains why they have to recruit drivers from distant areas to cater to their priority clients. It makes me ponder the potential repercussions for regular passengers who may be left in the lurch. Yet here I am, standing on the outskirts of the Uber business community, just a driver trying to make ends meet. So, as my wife would say, I'm going to let it go and move on.
The end is here...
The end of my work schedule has finally arrived, and while it may sound like an exaggeration, it feels as though the weight of the week has lifted from my shoulders. After pushing through a long day, I decided to wrap up my shift a little earlier than usual; I was simply spent.
Before heading into work, I managed to catch some extra sleep, something I desperately needed after tossing and turning the night before. You might imagine that this would leave me feeling drained by the time I got home, but to my surprise, I felt wide awake and restless instead. I didn't want to disrupt our household routine by going straight to bed, so I opted to channel my energy into making a pizza. But just as I pulled it from the oven, disaster struck, and it slipped from my hands, landing with a sad thud on the floor. It was a messy blow to my culinary ambitions.
After that little mishap, I sank into the chair, allowing myself a couple of hours to relax and recharge before finally heading to bed and drifting off to sleep.
Tomorrow holds the promise of a grand adventure. Is that an exaggeration? Perhaps, but the real challenge will be carving out the time to focus and sort through my priorities, turning possibilities into plans.

Even on the days off
I just wrapped up an exhausting 21-day work schedule, and today is supposed to be my cherished day off. However, the concept of a true break seems elusive, as I found myself hunched over my laptop, meticulously completing the spreadsheet for last week's earnings. To my delight, the numbers were quite impressive, a small silver lining amidst the continuous grind.
While driving around today, I couldn't resist the urge to keep checking my phone; the heat map for the areas I was traversing lit up with a flurry of activity. The temptation to log in and snag a few rides was strong, the allure of the hustle calling out to me. Still, I managed to remind myself that I have two full days off ahead to recharge and enjoy a moment of respite.
That did not go as planned...
I've been eagerly anticipating this time off for quite a while, and unsurprisingly, things didn't go quite as envisioned. I woke up this morning with a surge of motivation, ready to tackle my to-do list head-on. While I did manage to get started, my sense of accomplishment fell short of my expectations. I pushed myself to check off tasks, yet the items on the list seemed persistent, refusing to dwindle.
However, amidst the day's challenges, I finally seized the opportunity to retrieve some mulch; something I had been meaning to do for months. The earthy scent of the bins brought a sense of satisfaction as I loaded them into my car. Later, I decided to swing by Goodwill, where I stumbled upon a stunning pair of blue suede shoes. I know it sounds cliche, but the moment I laid eyes on them, I was enchanted. They fit like a dream, and I couldn't resist adding them to my collection.
As the sun began to set, I treated myself to a delicious takeout feast of Chinese food, savoring every bite. Finally, as evening approached, I began wrapping things up, hopeful that tomorrow would bring a more productive and fulfilling day.
To relax...
..or just to dream....
November 09, 2025
No work no play
Today is day 2 of my time off, and things did not go as planned. My work agenda for the day included checking the heat map and tracking rides for Sunday. Overall, it turned out to be quite a busy day. I am adjusting my work schedule so that I will work the next 7 days, followed by two days off during the week. I'm doing this to prepare for the quests next weekend, assuming there are quests available. However, that remains to be seen.
Well now...
This weekend presented a significant list of tasks that I had hoped to tackle, but as it often goes, reality had other plans. My adventures throughout the weekend took much longer than I had anticipated. For example, yesterday, the cover of the pool unexpectedly slipped off. What should have been a quick fix turned into a laborious three-hour ordeal, as I wrestled with the unwieldy material, battling against the wind and trying to contort it back into position.
In addition to that, I've embarked on a fall version of spring cleaning, and it's proven to be quite the undertaking. I found myself diving into the chaos of the garage, sifting through an assortment of forgotten items, and sorting through the clutter in other rooms. This meticulous process consumed a considerable amount of my time. Out of a daunting list of about 40 tasks, I managed to check off a mere eight; a rather humble achievement, but I'm trying to focus on the steps I did accomplish.
On a brighter note, I received my new storage media, which is tantalizingly sleek and ready for action. I've devised a plan to integrate it into my workflow right away, hoping it will streamline my organizational efforts. I also took a moment to thoughtfully set up my schedule for the upcoming week; it looks promising and well-structured. My agenda is filled with educational pursuits, addressing overdue projects, and returning to the passion of crafting my novels and short stories.
If there's one regret lingering from this weekend, it's that I didn't find the time to indulge in painting; a creative outlet that remains a top priority for me. The canvas still beckons, and I look forward to making it a reality soon.

A Nothing Day
It has been a long time since I've experienced a day quite like today. Nothing significant unfolded; there was no thrill from riders rushing past, no unexpected adventures, and certainly no hair-raising close calls. It was an ordinary, uneventful day, marked by a stillness that felt almost palpable. From a work perspective, the most striking aspect was the stark absence of anything noteworthy. I found myself pondering whether to perceive this tranquility as intriguing or downright terrifying. Could this serene calmness be just an anomaly? Or might it be the world pausing momentarily, taking a deep breath before plunging into another whirlwind of chaos? I guess I'll have to wait and see.
The before and after...
I've fully embraced my new routine, and with a fiercely determined mindset, I genuinely believe I can achieve my goals. This morning, I tackled my tasks with enthusiasm, setting into motion a strategic plan that will allow me to progress several of my projects simultaneously each week. I found myself racing against the clock, trying to squeeze in a rejuvenating nap before I headed off to work, but I anticipate that this will be the last time I need to do that as I continue to fine-tune my approach. While I know I'll have to make some adjustments along the way, I firmly believe that my plan is sound and attainable. After a busy day, I spent the evening unwinding, savoring the tranquility before slipping into bed. All considered, I'm ready to label today as a resounding success and use it as a stepping stone for even greater achievements ahead.
Something amiss ...
..in the world today....
November 11, 2025
Another Nothing Day
I've started to feel a growing sense of unease about the world around me. For the second consecutive day, the atmosphere has been eerily calm. There haven't been any unruly riders to challenge my patience or bizarre conversations bubbling up in the back seat; instead, everything has unfolded surprisingly smoothly. It almost feels like the calm before a storm, a deceptive tranquility that leaves me waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Just over a year ago, my days were punctuated by at least one incident that would send my heart racing or my mind into overdrive. Now, for two whole days, the silence has been palpable; a stark contrast to the chaos I had come to expect.
Today's most significant event was the sluggish pace of rides. I found myself mulling over the idea of wrapping up my day early, feeling the weight of unfulfilled expectations. However, destiny had other plans when I headed towards Atoka. That trip not only steered me closer to my daily goal but, on the return journey, with my beacon still glowing brightly, I managed to snag an unexpected extra $20. It's always a gratifying feeling to extract success from what initially appears to be a setback, transforming a slow day into a small victory.
The new grind!...
I have enthusiastically implemented my new daily plan, and so far, it's unfolding beautifully. My to-do list is brimming with tasks, and I find myself diligently working through each one with a sense of purpose. Thankfully, I've reintroduced my writing into my routine, which brings me immense joy. This morning, I devoted some time to revisiting chapter 6 and discovered a minor oversight. It seems my mind wandered while crafting this chapter, causing me to lose some context along the way. As I was about to correct the mistake, a brilliant idea sparked in my mind; a notion that will involve a considerable rewrite of several paragraphs. Yet, I'm confident it will lead to a thrilling adventure for the bewildered siblings caught in the story.
In addition to pouring my heart into writing, I'm also immersing myself in my reading, delving into ancient texts that hold treasures of wisdom, and juggling the drafting of two novels. I'm backdating my blog to capture experiences worth sharing, experimenting with new recipes that tantalize the taste buds, and completing various other tasks that fill my day with creativity and discovery. I am resolutely committed to accomplishing everything on my list each day. As the sun sets, I ensure to carve out precious moments to unwind and recharge, allowing myself to bask in tranquility after a productive day's work.
Well,isn't that ...
..interesting....
November 12, 2025
A trend?
Today's most significant news is, surprisingly, the absence of any noteworthy developments from my work perspective. The primary challenge I faced was that Uber appeared to have onboarded a considerable influx of drivers. This shift forced the app into match mode rather than its usual pre-assignment mode, resulting in a frustratingly long wait time of 10 to 15 minutes between rides. As a consequence, my earnings for the day were disappointingly low, which added to my sense of frustration.
On the bright side, the passengers I did have were calm and polite, although the conversations were sparse and uneventful. Their quiet demeanor made the rides feel almost surreal, as the lack of chatter contributed to the overall stillness of the day. This marks the third consecutive day devoid of any noteworthy adventures or interesting anecdotes to share. I sincerely hope this doesn't set a concerning trend for the weeks ahead.
The new way is working...
I am currently in the midst of my second week following a new routine, and I must say, it's unfolding beautifully. Last week was dedicated to meticulously crafting this routine, and now, in the vibrant energy of this week, I am fully diving into its execution. I've surrounded myself with a dozen intriguing educational books, and my goal is to delve into 1 chapter from each one every week; an exciting intellectual buffet. Aside from that, I edit 10 pages of Ancient a week.
In addition to my readings, I'm engrossed in the editing of a chapter from my book "Awakening," while simultaneously immersing myself in the next chapter to ensure I'm fully prepared for the edits that lie ahead. I'm also setting aside time to prepare chapters for "Fixing America," as well as sifting through a back-blog that takes me back to the dynamic decade of the 1960s.
As part of my daily routine, I've set a project for the week: organizing my camping gear, which still lies unpacked since my last adventure. I'm looking forward to rediscovering the equipment and perhaps reminiscing about past trips, each with their own stories to tell. Overall, things are progressing quite well; however, I find myself wrestling with an important concern; my sleep. Just recently, I had a disconcerting experience where I briefly saw and talked to a girl named Amanda in my home, though I have no recollection of meeting her. It left me unsettled, but I remain convinced there must be a logical explanation for this fleeting interaction. I'm looking forward to piecing it all together.
Mundane work, again...
..and mystery solved....
November 13, 2025
Better, at least a little bit
Today turned out to be an improvement over yesterday, primarily because, as I had anticipated, many of the inexperienced drivers who flooded the area yesterday are no longer on the road. When there are too many newcomers vying for rides, it tends to dilute the overall demand and make it harder for seasoned drivers like myself to thrive. Although I didn't reach my overarching goal for the week, it's clear that the new drivers probably struggled to earn much at all today.
While the situation isn't entirely back to its usual bustle, I found myself enjoying a wider variety of assignments, which made for a more engaging day. I was able to meet my daily target, a small victory in my quest for consistency. The only letdown was the lack of anything particularly exciting or noteworthy happening during my shifts. However, amid the routine, I stumbled upon an intriguing area near Fraser that caught my eye for photography. I'll be sure to add it to my list of places to explore more thoroughly later on; it seems like it has potential for some stunning captures.
Mystery Solved...
The best news I have today is that I'm not losing my mind; at least not in relation to Amanda, the enigmatic young woman I encountered in the house. After some introspection, I've come to realize that my fragmented sleep and lack of deep REM cycles have significantly contributed to my swirling emotions. It's a relief to know that I'm not alone in this; Willow reached the same conclusion as well.
As part of my new daily routine, I've started revisiting the dusty pages of my old short stories. Decades ago, I penned a tale about a creative soul, much like myself, who was overwhelmed by the pressures of life. The weight of his stress caused his personality to fracture, leading him to engage in vivid conversations with a young lady who, at that time, felt like a figment of his imagination. It was a rough, unpolished draft, but I made the decision to erase it from the hard drive this past weekend.
It wasn't removed due to its lack of quality; rather, it haunted me with its uncanny similarities to "The Dark Half" by Stephen King. While my Amanda lacks the sinister, murderous tendencies of the novel's antagonist, the parallels between the storylines were uncomfortably striking. When I shared my concern with my wife, she revealed that our daughter had also drawn the same connection.
The reason Amanda feels so vividly real to me might be my habit of taking brief morning naps. During that drowsy twilight state between sleep and wakefulness, I often find myself dreaming about her in a richly detailed, realistic setting. After shaking off the remnants of sleep and shifting into my morning routine, I frequently recall interactions with her, as if I had stepped into another world. I find the workings of the human brain to be endlessly fascinating; it can weave the most unexpected narratives, blending dreams with reality in delightfully amusing ways.
And that would make...
..a full work-week....
November 14, 2025
This is kind of scary
As I sit here reflecting on my week, I find myself in a curious situation. If I were working a conventional job, clocking in a solid 40 hours over five days, I would be wrapping things up and looking forward to a well-deserved break. But that's not the reality I'm living; I still have two more days to go before I can finally kick back and relax.
This week has unfolded in an almost monotonous rhythm, with five consecutive days merging together into a blur of routine. The only notable event was a brief spike in driver numbers that flared up unexpectedly for a single day. Beyond that, it's been strikingly uneventful. No thrilling encounters with dramatic riders, no emergencies that required a quick response, and thankfully, I managed to steer clear of the Memphis task force's watchful eye, never once did I find myself pulled over.
Don't misunderstand me; there's something quite comforting about a week devoid of chaos. Yet, this tranquility feels a bit unsettling. A part of me wishes for this serenity to linger, while another part craves the unpredictability that often accompanies my line of work. Today felt like just another busy day, where I managed to re-align myself with my goals amidst the tedium, but overall, it has been a week steeped in the ordinary.
And, again, time flies...
Tomorrow marks the midpoint of the month, and we're sliding into the weekend at a surprisingly brisk pace. I find myself reflecting on this year, and honestly, it's hard to grasp how quickly time has flown by, especially in the past week. In the moment, the hours often seem to drag, yet looking back, everything feels like a whirlwind that defies comprehension.
Today at work was just another run-of-the-mill day; there wasn't even a hint of chaos to mix things up and add some excitement. It felt almost routine, as if time had settled into a predictable pattern. Once I returned home, I focused on tackling my weekly to-do list, and to my delight, I was able to check off every item. Aside from diving into my reading, I'm completely caught up until Monday, which I find quite satisfying.
I set myself a considerable challenge with my new list, aiming to push my productivity to new heights, and so far, everything seems to be aligning nicely. Now I'm curious to see what the next couple of days will unfold, and whether they'll bring anything unexpected.
The games that people play...
..but, how to win?....
November 15, 2025
Back to annoying
The most significant issue at the moment is the tactics companies use to boost their profits. Recently, Uber seems to have hired a substantial number of new drivers. While this usually only lasts for one or two days, the effects were felt again today. This influx of drivers impacted the availability of rides and caused some turmoil.
Another major concern is that I received a report for foul language, which I know is untrue. Unfortunately, they haven't provided a specific time or date for the incident, leaving me without a way to defend myself. Ironically, this complaint came on the same day I received recognition for achieving 2,750 five-star reviews. This is quite significant and seems to indicate a pattern; in the past, whenever I received landmark reviews, I would also get a reported complaint within 24 hours. Could it be a coincidence? Perhaps, but I have my doubts.
Despite these challenges, I'm pushing through and am close to my weekly goal. I'm currently working towards completing 50 rides. I'm not sure if I will reach that goal by tomorrow.
Those games I was talking about...
I find myself feeling profoundly tired, though it's not physical fatigue; it's a weariness that stems from the relentless games and complications swirling around me from every direction. The weight of this mental exhaustion is becoming increasingly apparent, prompting me to recognize the urgent need to take proactive steps. I may have to seek alternative employment options before I reach the point of complete burnout.
There's a glimmer of hope on the horizon, I may still have a chance at securing the job with the city this weekend, which could alleviate many of my current challenges. Yet, in the face of uncertainty, I intend to prepare as if that opportunity might not materialize and will begin to explore other avenues.
I plan to delve into local temp agencies to assess what opportunities they might offer in terms of compensation. Reflecting on my time in Idaho, I remember how well I fared with temp work then, but the circumstances were vastly different. With the current unpredictability of my situation weighing heavily on me, all I can do is press onward and hope to gain some clarity and perspective as I navigate this tumultuous period.
November 16, 2025
The makes a full week.
Today marks the final day of my seven-day work week, and I can hardly believe how smooth it has been. For the first time in what feels like ages, I navigated the entire week without a hint of drama. Each day, the riders were unfailingly courteous, greeting me with smiles and engaging in pleasant small talk. There were no strange conversations to throw me off my game, and I was relieved to encounter neither irate passengers nor out-of-control kids. I hope this doesn't become a trend, as a little unpredictability keeps things interesting and vibrant.
As I entered the weekend, however, I felt a tinge of disappointment. I had just scraped by to meet my minimum goal, and the outlook for the weekend felt dim. Yet, as the days unfolded, I managed to shake off that initial gloom. I focused on my target, pushing through the shifts with renewed determination and energy. By the time my final shift ended, I was ecstatic to discover that I had not only met but surpassed my goal. As I look ahead to the next two days, there's a mix of uncertainty and hope, but I can't help but reflect on the fact that, in the end, this week turned out to be quite rewarding.
Time to rest...
After a long and demanding week of hard work, I've found myself with little room for anything beyond my daily responsibilities. Despite the busyness, I'm excited about the progress I'm making on my new list for my mock New Year; it's shaping up nicely. While I've managed to stay on track with several tasks, I did have to make a few adjustments along the way to ensure everything aligns with my goals. With the next two days off on the horizon, I'm eager to dive into my plans and see just how much I can accomplish during that time.
The down days...
..part one....
November 17, 2025
Even when I am down, I work.
Even though I'm navigating a couple of down days in a row, I still have responsibilities to tackle. First on my agenda was entering data into the spreadsheet, a task I managed to complete swiftly and efficiently. However, my second task filled me with a sense of unease: I needed to take my car to Firestone to have the tie rod replaced. I've always felt apprehensive about visiting this garage; despite their solid reputation, they have a knack for uncovering additional problems that end up costing more than expected.
Thankfully, this visit was a pleasant surprise. The mechanic assured me that my car is in good condition, the tie rod replacement went smoothly, and there were no unexpected issues lurking beneath the surface. With that relief, I can look forward to tomorrow when I plan to wash and clean the car. Once that's done, I'll be all set and ready to hit the road again with confidence.
A dilemma...
The primary goal of my two days off was to unwind and rejuvenate. Lately, I've been grappling with a heavier load of stress than I would like to admit, which has left me feeling perpetually on edge. With anticipation building, I looked forward to finally taking the time to relax. However, my plans were thwarted last night when I found myself wide awake, battling restlessness and managing only about four hours of fragmented sleep.
Determined to make the most of my day off, I had intended to take my car in for repairs before retreating to the comfort of my home for a much-needed nap. Sadly, sleep eluded me yet again, leaving me feeling sluggish and disengaged. As the hours trickled by, I found myself succumbing to the temptation of a frozen pizza, indulging in one that did little to lift my spirits. Despite designating today as a down day meant for recharging, I felt it had slipped away without providing the restorative benefits I desperately needed.
On a brighter note, I did manage to tackle the wasp problem I had been dreading in the upper eaves of my house. Armed with my new extension pole, I felt a small surge of triumph as I restored a sense of safety to my outdoor space. With that chore behind me, I decided to turn in early, hoping that a good night's sleep would grant me a fresh start come morning.
To lift my mood a bit further, I turned to the comforting world of film. I was in the mood for something light-hearted, so I settled on The Little Mermaid. To my surprise, the version I watched was a reimagined horror take on the classic tale, diverging sharply from the beloved Disney adaptation I had cherished as a child. Unfortunately, the film bore the hallmark signs of artificial intelligence involvement: it felt shallow and utterly predictable. Character development was lacking, leaving them feeling one-dimensional and unrelatable, as if they were mere puppets following a script rather than genuine individuals navigating complex situations. I'm growing increasingly concerned that the trend of prioritizing technology over storytelling may be taking hold in the entertainment industry.
The final task of the day centered on my personal development and growth, a journey I felt eager to embark on. After some research, I stumbled upon a forklift training school that offers an intensive one-day training program for just $100. This seemed like a practical investment, especially in today's job market.
In addition to this, I remembered a piece of invaluable advice from one of my former professors. She had encouraged me to take stock of the outdated computer training I had yet to complete; 36 courses, to be exact. These courses have significantly evolved since my graduation, reflecting the rapid advancements in technology. Fortunately, I discovered a comprehensive bundle that includes all the courses I need, packaged together at an astonishing price.
Completing these 36 courses is not just a mere checkbox to tick; it holds the potential to elevate my skill set to the equivalent of earning a Master's degree, not on paper, but in knowledge. Attending a traditional college program to fulfill this requirement would set me back around $118,000, a daunting figure that makes my recent find feel like a stroke of luck. The self-paced bundle, currently on sale for only $99, is incredibly appealing, but I'm left contemplating how to move forward with this opportunity. It's a substantial decision that requires thoughtful reflection on my future goals and aspirations.

Much needed rest
On those rare days when I manage to take a break, I consciously carve out time to unwind and recharge. Today, although I didn't have any pressing work obligations, I found myself filling out a handful of applications and tackling various questionnaires that accompanied them. My current experience with Uber has been manageable, but the little frustrations are beginning to build, casting a shadow over my enjoyment. I can sense the subtle signs of burnout lurking in the distance, a reminder that I need to be mindful of my pace and take care of my well-being before it creeps any closer.
Playing with fire

Today, I had some extra time where I decided to spend a quiet moment at my desk. Instead of oil painting, which I had initially planned for this week but couldn't quite get into the right mood for, I opted for a computerized version instead. I created four pieces that are entirely computer-generated using artificial intelligence. These works are based on a model and enhanced through a series of AI-driven filters. My goal is to use these pieces as inspiration for my upcoming oil paintings.
Accomplished, I think...
Today, I grappled with a dilemma: the urgent need to accomplish tasks weighed against the necessity of taking some well-deserved rest. Ultimately, I found a balance that allowed me to feel productive without overexerting myself.
My primary mission for the day was to tackle the chaotic front yard, which was heavily littered with leaves that had fallen from the trees. Armed with a rake and a leaf blower, I spent a significant chunk of time gathering the vibrant autumn foliage, pushing most of it to the curb in neat piles. With the yard looking much tidier, I turned my attention to the pool filter, which I disassembled with care. I gathered the assorted parts that had scattered around the yard, though they're not yet stored away, I was relieved to clear the space.
Feeling a burst of energy despite my efforts, I decided to consolidate the scattered wood piles into a single, tidy stack, envisioning future bonfires as I did so. However, I'm hesitant to ignite a fire right now because of the leaves strewn across the backyard, which create a potential fire hazard. I plan to wait until all the leaves have cascaded down from the trees, an occurrence I estimate will take another couple of weeks.
As for my job application with public works, I'm still in a state of suspense, waiting for the city to respond. The application window just closed this past weekend, and I've been informed it could take at least a week for them to make a decision. I remain hopeful and optimistic.
An intriguing challenge emerged today as well. Since stepping off the truck, I've been diligent about keeping at least one course active, with my recent focus being on writing. I completed my final exam for that course today, and I was thrilled to ace it. However, when I attempted to progress to the next course, I discovered there weren't any available options. I've exhausted all the subjects in my online educational materials library. While I still have a plethora of courses stored on my hard drive and a few more waiting in an unsorted folder of my favorites, I wasn't quite ready to reach the end of this learning journey just yet. The thought of breaking my routine has me feeling a bit flustered.
In another setback, I learned that I cannot sit for the Project Management Professional certification due to the prerequisite of 4,500 hours of project management experience. At 60 years old, that's an impractical hurdle for me. Nevertheless, I believe I have built a solid foundation in project management principles that can serve me well, certification or not.
On a more positive note, I spent some time mapping out my educational path for 2026 and began researching the forklift driving school, which boasts an excellent reputation. I intend to enroll soon to add valuable skills to my repertoire. In the meantime, I'm working on scraping together $100 for a series of 36 computer courses to keep my mind engaged and active. Overall, despite the challenges, I'm counting today as a good day filled with achievements and plans for the future.
Back to the grind...
..and it is grinding....

Wow, really?
Last week unfolded without a hint of drama, leaving me eager for some unexpected twists today. To my surprise, however, the day passed in an unremarkable fashion, as if time itself was ticking away like clockwork. The rides, though brief, flowed seamlessly one after another, creating a rhythm that felt almost hypnotic. The patrons were remarkably courteous, their conversations subdued and respectful, lending an unusual tranquility to the atmosphere. It made me ponder: have we somehow been overtaken by aliens, transforming us all into pod people? The thought sent a shiver down my spine, as I've never been fond of that notion.
Even with a persistent headache that forced me to close up a bit earlier than usual due to light sensitivity, the overall experience was surprisingly smooth. Today marks the beginning of my seven-day work week, and despite the slight discomfort, it turned out to be a decent day.
Learn baby, learn...
The most exhilarating part of my day unfolded in the early hours, long before I headed to work. After an engaging discussion with Laura, I took a leap of faith and signed up for an ambitious educational journey that comprises 26 master's level courses. After carefully reviewing each option, I decided to streamline my path by removing the two courses that focused exclusively on Apple technology. I then embarked on my first course in CISSP, motivated by the challenge it presents, as I've had little exposure to the subject.
In addition to this, I decided to diversify my learning experience by engaging in a drawing course and a C++ programming course from my library. By choosing three distinct disciplines, I aim to keep my studies stimulating and avoid the monotony that can sometimes accompany intensive learning. This morning, I completed the first lesson in all three courses, and it felt incredibly rewarding. Previously, I had dabbled in some mini-courses on Zenva, but I found the material unengaging and lacking depth. I am hopeful that my new selections will bring a refreshing change to my educational experience.
I also made productive use of my morning by putting the finishing touches on Chapter 6 of my novel. Considering it took me three long months to craft Chapter 5 and only three days to whip up Chapter 6, I see that as a significant leap forward in my writing journey. Chapter 7 is now queued up and ready for its editing session next week. Additionally, I finalized the Christianity page for Ancient Pathway, feeling a sense of accomplishment as I prepare to move on to the next topic. As you can see, I've made substantial progress with my blog, and everything is shaping up quite nicely.
No spark...
..No fire....

Walking in mud
I've returned to work and am gradually settling back into the rhythm, but the atmosphere feels surprisingly dull. This week's quest slipped through my fingers, resetting at the stroke of midnight, and the absence of excitement has me feeling unsettled. Once again, there's been a lack of drama; a silence that, rather than being peaceful, hangs heavily in the air. My riders seem unusually withdrawn, speaking in hushed tones, their expressions clouded with apprehension about the world beyond windows of the car. The current state of affairs is disheartening, and I can't shake off the nagging worry it brings. Yet, I wonder if this gloomy perception is solely my own. Only time will reveal the truth behind this unsettling calm.
Settling in...
I have found it remarkably easy to adjust to my new routine. Each day, I diligently tackle my tasks with a sense of accomplishment, and so far, I haven't faced any significant obstacles. However, the work environment has felt rather monotonous lately, lacking the spark of creativity and excitement that often fuels my motivation. While I could easily fill my daily to-do list with additional projects, I'm mindful that as the holiday season approaches, the pace of work may become increasingly frantic. I prefer to maintain a balanced workload and avoid overwhelming myself, as I want to steer clear of slipping into a negative mindset. On a brighter note, I'm still making steady progress on my novel. Though the finish line seems like it's still quite far off, I can at least catch a glimpse of it on the horizon, which keeps me inspired.

Drying paint
It is truly remarkable what we, as human beings, can adapt to. I only recently realized that my life has been an adventure all along. It wasn't until that adventure was stripped away that I finally understood its significance. Just last week, I navigated each day in a quiet monotony. My passengers brought an unexpected sense of calm, their whispers replaced the usual animated chatter, and even the drivers on the roads seemed unusually subdued. There were no bursts of road rage, no honking horns piercing the air; just an eerie serenity that enveloped the streets. The Memphis task force, which usually thrives on chaos, has appeared to settle into a tranquil routine.
This trend of tranquility has persisted into this week, leaving me with an unsettling feeling. With the holidays fast approaching, I briefly entertained the thought that perhaps the distraction of festive preparations has lulled everyone into complacency. While dramatic news stories have been circulating in the media, I suspect that isn't the sole reason for this shift. It's as if the vibrancy of life has been siphoned away from the planet, leaving a dull, lifeless veneer behind. The people I encounter, though only for fleeting moments, seem to embody this pervasive apathy, reflecting a broader shift in the world around us. No one appears willing to rise up and confront the challenges we face anymore; instead, there's an overwhelming hesitation that hangs in the air.
Reflection...
The eerie calm enveloping the world right now is both maddening and unsettling. As a writer, my imagination often spirals into strange realms during moments like this. I feel as if I've stepped into the pages of a Stephen King novel or perhaps even one of my own eerie creations, where the entire universe seems to hold its breath, teetering on the edge of an impending scream. This overwhelming sense of reflection increasingly convinces me that we are indeed in the eye of the storm. Unlike a typical tempest, where dark clouds gather ominously on the horizon, offering a chance to prepare, this situation is shrouded in uncertainty. The source of danger is veiled, and we're left grappling with the unknown; will it come, or is it merely an illusion? Meanwhile, prices continue to soar like a relentless tide, and the stormtroopers, relentless in their advance, march upon our cities under the whims of our so-called leader. As the world plays a strategic game of chess, this leader appears to be caught up in a childish game of tiddlywinks, oblivious to the stakes at hand.
I find myself compelled to carve out time for a detailed exploration of everything unraveling in the United States right now. This complex tapestry of issues deserves more than the snippets of thought I can squeeze into my daily blogging; it needs a focused lens, a dedicated space for contemplation. However, tackling this tangled mess will demand significant concentration. Each thread of this multifaceted issue feels less like the beauty of a glittering diamond or a radiant ruby and more akin to an uncomfortable, man-made object that is trying to fit into the expectations of society.
On a brighter note, I've been diligently working through my daily responsibilities, which brings a sense of fulfillment that's hard to describe. Currently, I'm immersed in four distinct areas of study, each illuminating different aspects of knowledge and keeping them separate to avoid any muddling of ideas. I'm optimistic that this approach will sustain my engagement for the foreseeable future.
In an unexpected twist, I recently received a prescription from my doctor for a medication that comes with a staggering price tag. Today, I managed a small victory by negotiating a price reduction of 90%. Though it remains steep, the new figure is at least within reach. I haven't taken the plunge to fill the prescription just yet; tonight, I'll contemplate whether the investment is truly worthwhile. However, this situation brings to light several other concerns that would undoubtedly feed into my planned rant.
Additionally, I'm preparing to make my final entry for the Colorado box, a submission that feels increasingly like it may end up on the proverbial scrap pile; an outcome that casts a shadow of sadness over my thoughts. Another unexpected dose of reality crashed over me when I learned that the city job I hoped for has been reposted today. My wife, ever the optimist, reassures me that perhaps they need more than one person and that I could still receive a call. Yet, my natural pessimism whispers that opportunity may be a thing of the past. Still, in life, you can never be entirely sure of what awaits.
November 22, 2025
Another day, like any other
I have to admit, this situation has morphed into something both disturbing and unnerving. Today unfolded like any other ordinary day, devoid of drama or conflict. There were no obscure conversations whispered in corners, no road rage incidents marring the drive, and not a single rude person crossing my path. It feels as though the world has slipped into a surreal state of tranquility, leaving us blissfully unaware of what might lie beneath the surface. I know this might sound a bit melodramatic, but it's now been nearly two weeks devoid of any extreme emotions or chaotic disruptions. What was once a daily tapestry woven with vivid threads of tension and passion now feels eerily subdued. It makes me wonder what is happening in the universe. Are we simply overwhelmed by the chaos of the world around us? Have we been quietly taken over by aliens, leaving us in this calm state? Or perhaps, we're just collectively exhausted, yearning for a moment of peace in the midst of uncertainty.
The mimic...
The work arena wasn't the only place weighed down by the relentless grip of monotony. I shuffled through the morning like a lifeless automaton, my mind dulled by the repetitive tasks that consumed me right up until the moment I settled in for a brief nap before finally stepping out into the world. Each moment felt predictable, lacking any spark of surprise or intrigue. While I toiled away, I utilized my voice recorder to capture fleeting thoughts and ideas, and that process unfolded without a hitch. Yet, a twinge of disappointment lingered as I recalled how Uber's telemetric program mistakenly interprets downshifting as aggressive braking; a minor annoyance, but hardly worth a second thought in the grand scheme of my day.
Upon arriving home, I felt an overwhelming wave of exhaustion wash over me. I warmed a plate of leftover pasta, the rich aroma momentarily lifting my spirits, before plopping down to watch the Comedy Central roast of Flavor Flav. It might not have been the most intellectually stimulating choice, but it served as a welcome distraction from the drudgery that had defined my day. The world outside felt like it was spinning on a treadmill, and when you think about the destination of a treadmill, nowhere, it raises concerns about what lies ahead. The one gleam of brightness in this otherwise dull day was the arrival of the final episode of “Drop Dead Diva,” allowing me to finally wrap up that colorful series and escape into its quirky narrative.
The block breaks...
..and it breaks HARD....
November 23, 2025
Swerve to the left, wiggle to the right.
After more than a week devoid of any notable drama, I found myself suddenly engulfed in chaos. The most significant incident of the day was road debris, a haphazard collection of items that had found their way onto the highway. A discarded mattress lay sprawled across one lane, while various miscellaneous items scattered around like confetti after a parade. The most alarming sight, however, was a car that lost a wheel at a blistering 65 mph right in front of me. Fortunately, I was alert and maintained a safe following distance, allowing me to spot the impending disaster before it could impact my vehicle. Regrettably, the driver behind me wasn't as fortunate. As I maneuvered into the breakdown lane, I caught a glimpse in my rearview mirror of the chaotic scene unraveling, a tangle of metal, smoke, and confusion. I briefly considered stopping to assist, but the unpredictability of the drivers around me weaving in and out made the situation too perilous. So I resolved to keep moving, my heart racing as I left the tangled mess behind.
Earlier this evening, I encountered another peculiar scenario involving three underage girls attempting to gain entry into a nearby nightclub, a venture that was, of course, against the law. Their desperation was palpable as they approached me, offering everything from cash to vague promises of "anything" if I would just buy them tickets. It was clear to me that this was not an option I could entertain, so I kindly sent them on their way. As I drove past the lengthy line of eager patrons waiting to enter the club, I couldn't help but notice that many of them also appeared to be underage. What a curious world we live in, where such carefree recklessness is not an uncommon sight!
Finally, as the night progressed, I was hit with an unexpected inconvenience; my Uber credentials expired right in the middle of my shift. This meant I had to shut down just as I was ready to wrap up my night. The renewal process for my driver's license and photograph loomed over me, and I knew that while I could snap the photo anywhere, the update for my license required me to be seated at a proper desk. Given that the processing could take several hours, I was relieved that this hiccup occurred toward the end of my shift. With hope buoying my spirits, I aimed to resolve the issue before the dawn breaks and I awake to a new day.
Tired...
I am striving to maintain a positive attitude, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult. The relentless overcast sky casts a gray pall over everything, and its gloom seems to seep into my thoughts, making it hard to shake off the weight of my mood. Even the brief, golden moments of sunlight today felt distant and fleeting, failing to lift my spirits as I had hoped.
This morning, before heading to work, I managed to tick off every item on my to-do list, a small victory in an otherwise dreary day. Later, I took a moment to unwind by indulging in an episode of my favorite show, letting the familiar characters take me away from reality for a bit.
However, the most significant hurdle I faced today was forgetting my lunch. I had intended to treat myself to a warm, comforting sandwich, but in the rush of the day, that plan slipped away unnoticed. While missing a single meal might not seem detrimental at first, I realized just how much I'd skipped by the time I got home in the evening, my stomach grumbling in protest. This oversight could easily turn into a recurring problem if I'm not careful.
Negative...
..leads to negative....
November 24, 2025
Rain.
Today's answer is rain. It's unfortunate that I can't recall what the specific question was, leaving the answer feeling rather empty. The day unfolded under a sky that shifted from a fine mist to a heavy downpour, creating a dreary backdrop for my work.
To compound my difficulties, we were short on drivers, which significantly impacted my routes. I found myself making long treks of 15 to 20 minutes just to pick up rides that lasted a mere three minutes and paid almost nothing in return. Normally, I don't fret over these kinds of rides since they're infrequent, but today they dominated my schedule.
Despite pushing myself to the limit, I still fell well short of my modest goal. This is not the ideal way to kick off the week, and I'm really hoping for a turnaround tomorrow.
That is one sour grape...
The challenges I encountered at work mirrored the ups and downs of my day, creating a complex tapestry of emotions. This morning, I awoke with a sense of optimism, my eyes bright and my mind buzzing with anticipation for a day of accomplishments. I envisioned tackling my tasks with energy and enthusiasm. However, as the hours slipped by, that initial spark dimmed, and a heavy blanket of frustration settled over me. I found myself grappling with a nagging sense of being stuck, unable to gain any momentum.
I realize it sounds trivial to dwell on such feelings, as life naturally ebbs and flows, but the yearning for a small victory loomed large in my mind. Unfortunately, today proved barren in that regard. To add to my disillusionment, I did not pack my lunch, a rookie mistake that left me longing for a satisfying meal. I had hoped to grab a quick sandwich, but circumstances conspired against me, and that opportunity slipped away, leaving me hungry and on edge. I soldiered through the hours, steadfast in my determination to push forward, but as the day drew to a close, I couldn't shake the pervasive sense of dissatisfaction. Right now, I'm feeling drained and irritable, and it's beginning to gnaw at my spirit.
Did you see that?...
..Pigeons!....
November 25, 2025
Not really pigeons.
I walked through the day and ultimate annoyance. I had one single decent run out of an entire 10 hour shift. Everything else was a 15 minute drive for a $5 fare. It was like being pecked to death by pigeons and by the end of the night it was really on my nerves. I don't mind the $5 fares, but when I have to travel halfway across the city to pick them up, that becomes part of the problem. When I tallied out for the night, once again, I had made $18.00 an hour before expenses. In the past weeks I have done much better than this, and this is unsustainable. Hopefully, it is just a temporary situation and it will pass. But I have to double down and start looking for something more reliable.
Time to rest, finally...
The past seven days have felt like they stretched into three long, disorienting weeks. I realize that doesn't sound quite right, but it's a sensation of time dilation that's been amplified by my current mood. By the end of the night, I was craving a getaway that felt like it could last a blissful two days. Although the sun shone brightly today, casting warm rays that brought life back to the world outside, it did little to uplift my spirits or carry me through the long hours of the day. The challenges at work weigh heavily on me, creating a cloud of stress that's difficult to shake off. I keep telling myself these trials are merely temporary inconveniences and, like all storms, will eventually pass. It's a struggle to keep this perspective when things feel overwhelming, but I reassure myself that I can endure until brighter days return.
On a more positive note, even though I'm lagging behind on my daily goals for the week, I've taken significant strides with my archiving project, and it's progressing nicely. By the end of tomorrow, I might find myself running low on media, but I can tackle that dilemma later. For now, the satisfaction of finally saving some of this long-overdue material is a small victory that feels rewarding. At least I'm making headway, one piece at a time.
Isn't that special...
...no, really....
November 26, 2025
Prep time
Today marks the beginning of my much-anticipated two-day break, and I can't help but keep a close eye on the app. The new weekend quests have just been released, and they promise to be quite significant, adding an exciting layer to my usual routine. These quests kick off bright and early on Friday morning, right when I'm scheduled to head back to work, but I'm determined to tackle them head-on.
Earlier today, I took a single ride, though it came at no charge. It was quite an unexpected experience; another Uber driver had encountered an accident, and I jumped in to complete their run while they managed the situation with their car. It felt good to lend a hand, even if it was outside of my usual operations. Overall, today has been relatively calm in terms of work, providing a welcome reprieve before diving back into the busyness of the upcoming weekend.
What was I thinking?...
The entire household enjoyed a delightful two days off in a row, and we seized the opportunity to indulge in some serious cooking. Willow took charge of preparing a succulent roasted chicken, its golden skin glistening as it emerged from the oven. I tackled deviled eggs and freshly baked bread, the aroma of warm yeast filling the kitchen. Meanwhile, Laura showcased her culinary prowess by crafting a variety of dishes, including a creamy green bean casserole topped with crispy onions, rich bread pudding which I believe was infused with cinnamon and nutmeg, and several other mouthwatering creations.
Despite our festive preparations, I had a few errands that needed handling, along with an unexpected Uber ride. I seriously questioned my judgment when I ventured out the day before Thanksgiving. The highways were a chaotic mess, dotted with multiple accidents, and the streets teemed with cars while grumpy drivers navigated the gridlock, making the atmosphere tense.
I made my first stop at Walmart to pick up my new medication, where the air felt thick with hustle and bustle. Afterward, I headed over to AutoZone to grab some lights for the trusty Spark. Since my earlier Uber drop-off was at Goodwill, I decided to take a quick detour to check out the back wall and browse for electronics and then for boots. To my delight, I stumbled upon a stunning pair of red thigh-high boots boasting sky-high 6-inch heels. To my surprise, I could actually walk in them gracefully! Now I just need the perfect occasion to flaunt them. I also picked up a pair of comfortable black boots that would be perfect for everyday wear.
I've started incorporating some of my newer boots into my outfits, but there are still a few pairs I haven't worn yet and probably won't, at least not on a day-to-day basis. My final stop was Gordon's Foods on Union Avenue. The traffic was relentless, compounded by protests in the city, and the atmosphere buzzed with impatience and frustration from those around me. It felt like a small victory to finally return home after such a hectic day. Back in the comfort of my kitchen, I wrapped up the last of my tasks, feeling satisfied with all I had accomplished, and that concluded my busy day.
Too fast...
..way too fast....
November 27, 2025
To rest. Ahh to rest.
I dedicated my day to steering clear of work as much as possible. The only tasks that touched on my professional duties were giving my trusty Kia a thorough cleaning and getting it ready for tomorrow morning's adventures. As the sun set, I took a moment to map out my quests for the upcoming weekend, excitedly anticipating a repeat of the exhilarating pigeon runs I've enjoyed before. My goal is to complete all 70 required rides over the three days ahead, which seems quite achievable if the next few days mirror the pace of the last two. I have a hunch that they're ramping up the quest assignments to draw in more drivers, especially with the holiday weekend creating an atmosphere ripe for increased opportunities.
Stuff, do stuff...
I had some trouble sleeping, so I found myself wide awake just after midnight, the house shrouded in a stillness that only the early hours can offer. With a quiet resolve, I dove into a morning project centered around self-reflection and meditation, grappling with my thoughts and emotions in the soft glow of the desk lamp. While I feel I've made progress on this journey, only time will reveal its true impact.
Once I had immersed myself in that introspective work, I shifted gears to tackle my backlog. I spent time methodically organizing my recipes for the week, sorting through colorful papers and sticky notes adorned with handwritten notes and kitchen experiments. When Laura finally joined the world, bright-eyed and ready to seize the day, I surrendered to fatigue and indulged in a refreshing three-hour nap, my body craving the rest it had long denied.
Upon waking, I set to work with renewed energy to cross off items on my to-do list. I meticulously double-checked my password book, a task that now stands complete, a small victory in my day. I then moved eight series from the clutter of my computer to permanent storage, each file representing a piece of my digital life, preserved and orderly at last. I also took the time to tend to the Spark, checking the lights and ensuring everything was functioning as it should.
Stepping outside into the crisp air, I cleaned the Kia, scrubbing away the remnants of past journeys and preparing it for a return to work tomorrow. With each wipe of the cloth, I felt a sense of accomplishment as I readied the vehicle for the road ahead. As daylight began to fade, I tucked away the Halloween decorations into the attic, their vibrant colors waiting to emerge again next year.
Reflecting on the day, I realized it had been remarkably productive, yet I had overlooked some essential elements of my usual routine. I hadn't updated my blog, cleared my daily emails, engaged on social media, or dedicated time to my reading and education. In my fervor to accomplish other tasks, I had neglected these cornerstone activities, leaving me a bit unmoored. By day's end, I rushed to catch up on these items, turning it into a race against time rather than a leisurely wrap-up. I managed to complete everything, but the experience was far from relaxing.
November 28, 2025
Back to work.
I'm back at work for the week, immersing myself in the new quest that Uber has set for the upcoming weekend. So far, everything is progressing smoothly. Today, I had a diverse group of riders, and despite the varied rider levels, the dynamics balanced out nicely. Recently, I've noticed that the rides have often felt lopsided, with trends swinging unpredictably from one extreme to the other. However, today marked a refreshing change in that pattern.
I encountered several micro runs, which was what I anticipated, but I was pleasantly surprised by a number of longer runs that added depth to the day. The secret to thriving in this scenario is to keep the distance between each run as short as possible, and that strategy paid off beautifully today. As the weekend approaches, I'm hopeful to tackle both the primary and secondary quests before it wraps up, although the numerous variables at play make it tough to predict exactly what the outcome will be.
Playing catch-up...
I find myself grappling with a sense of being slightly behind in my personal endeavors, as my to-do list has grown increasingly overwhelming. While I've managed to keep up with my blogging, I can't shake the feeling that I'm neglecting the editing of my novel, which sits patiently waiting for my attention. The recipes I planned are all organized and ready to go, but my reading and educational pursuits seem to be lingering in the shadows, unfinished.
On a brighter note, I've successfully completed the stool project, and I've arranged everything neatly in preparation for the oil painting projects that lie ahead. However, when I take a moment to assess my overall progress, I'm left wondering whether I'm truly ahead or lagging behind. As the week draws to a close, I can feel the anticipation of a new mental space approaching with the weekend. Yet, I'm left in a state of uncertainty about whether this transformation will bring about something positive or if it will prove to be a setback.
Wow...
..rain and Oxford....
November 29, 2025
The drama is back.
I will never again complain about a lack of drama. The day unfolded under a relentless rain that poured from the overcast sky, but amidst the gloomy weather, I managed to experience a balanced mix of rides. Some stretched long and winding, while others zipped by in short bursts, each contributing to the rhythm of my day; until everything took a sharp turn.
The trouble began when I decided to refuel at Love's on Lamar Ave, hoping to rejuvenate for a smooth drive to West Memphis, AR. Instead, my hopes were dashed as I received a ride request bound from the airport. When navigating these quests that demand multiple rides, long journeys; especially those that lead to far-off destinations, can really throw a wrench into the plans. In this case, I ended up picking up an airport traveler destined for Old Miss College in Oxford, Mississippi. That round trip stretched nearly three hours and completely derailed the rhythm I had built for the day.
With my high quest goal now out of reach, I held onto the hope of achieving the low quest by tomorrow. However, the evening offered yet another twist. The young lady I picked up from the airport was brimming with excitement as she talked about reuniting with her boyfriend for the holidays. But as we cruised along, her mood shattered abruptly when he broke up with her over the phone.
The ride turned somber, tense with her anguish. Though I'll respect her privacy and refrain from divulging specifics, the exchange was nothing short of intense; imagine the kind of drama fit for "Desperate Housewives" or, at the very least, "Jersey Shore." This was the climax of my night, leaving me just $20 shy of both my daily and weekly goals, with 21 rides still remaining to complete the low-end quest.
Roll? Or lay there and stare?...
The holiday season has arrived, and in just two days, we'll step into a new month, marking the countdown to the new year. From this vantage point, I can't help but reflect on the fleeting nature of time; in a mere 31 days, we will usher in 2026. Honestly, I'm baffled by how swiftly 2025 has slipped through my fingers, like a delicate butterfly startled by a sudden gust. It might sound a bit melodramatic, but it encapsulates my current feelings perfectly.
I spent the bulk of my day trying to regain my footing before heading to work, and when I finally returned home, I immersed myself in some deep meditation. At this moment, I'm grappling with anxiety, frustration, and a general sense of discontent. My usual distractions have fallen flat; my thoughts seem to drift aimlessly into unsettled territory. While the musings aren't harmful, I find myself falling into disquieting scenarios. For instance, on the highway, when another driver tailgates me, flashing their lights in irritation over my speed, I can't help but entertain uncharitable thoughts. Instead of feeling intimidated, I deliberately ease off the gas, inviting them to pass me, a silent act of defiance in my own small way.
It feels as though anger is becoming a pervasive mood in the air around us. This is the Christmas season, traditionally a time for togetherness and joy, yet I find myself devoid of that spirited energy, both from the world around me and within myself. It's a disheartening feeling that weighs heavily on my heart.
November 30, 2025
Well now.
I kicked off the day with a surge of energy, eager to seize every opportunity that came my way. However, my plans quickly spiraled out of control. My first hurdle appeared when I was assigned a delivery for a rider who didn't have a delivery account, throwing a wrench into my carefully crafted schedule.
Just when I thought I was regaining some momentum, I picked up two passengers who would soon become the source of an unexpected time sink. A simple 10-minute ride that was supposed to take them home morphed into an extended adventure. As soon as they hopped into the car, they requested a stop at Walgreens to pick up medication; a quick errand, or so I thought.
What followed was a frenzy of activity: one of them dashed into Walgreens, only to then wander over to T-Mobile. After a brief period, she returned, only for the other passenger to express a sudden interest in T-Mobile as well. This back-and-forth resulted in a frustrating 90-minute ordeal. I sat in the car, watching the minutes tick by as they browsed phones and accessories, feeling the weight of my disrupted day.
While I appreciate that the fare was decent, I couldn't help but feel that my plans were slipping through my fingers. It would have been easy to give in to frustration and call it a day, but I was determined to push through and meet my modest goals for the week. Despite the irritation simmering inside me, I stayed the course, refusing to throw in the towel, knowing that persistence would ultimately pay off.
A bit of comedy...
I don't typically share deeply personal details about my life, but I feel it's important to open up in this instance. Today marked a significant shift in my daily routine: I decided to try Ozempic for the very first time. This medication is widely recognized as a weight loss drug, but it also plays a vital role in managing A1C levels. As I've grown older, keeping my A1C under control has become an increasingly challenging endeavor, prompting my doctor to recommend this treatment.
Initially, I was filled with apprehension due to the high cost associated with the medication. However, after some negotiation, I managed to reduce the price, which gave me the push I needed to take the plunge. I began my journey with Ozempic today, but I'm already encountering many of its potential side effects, which make me feel uneasy. The most notable change I've experienced is a significant loss of appetite, a troubling issue for me, as I've struggled with forgetfulness around meals in the past. While I've worked hard to overcome that challenge, I can't shake the fear that it might resurface.
Medical professionals have advised that the first day following the injection often brings the worst of the side effects, with the discomfort expected to diminish before my next weekly dose. As I move through the day, I hold onto the hope that I've already faced the worst of what this medication can do.
The weather outside is frigid, with temperatures dropping even lower as we transition into the new month tomorrow. It's hard to believe that the year is drawing to a close. I've successfully placed orders for Christmas gifts for my wife and daughter, which gives me a sense of relief, assuming they arrive on time, of course. This evening, I whipped up a comforting meal of bacon and eggs, a necessary choice since I had neglected to eat lunch earlier in the day.
As we approach this new month and the fresh promise of the upcoming year, let's hope for brighter days ahead.
