Welcome to The Journey

An open book journey of Christopher William Klein

My heart really was not in the digital art this month. I just continued with the new filters but there was nothing creative. I need to switch over to oil painting for a while.

Greetings: I am starting to feel like we are living in a science fiction or horror novel. I'm not sure who the author would be, but it might be someone like Asimov, considering how time seems to be slipping away. February flew by in a blur, and even though each day felt tedious, it passed quickly. I sincerely hope that things slow down soon.

And done...

..at least for now....

March 01, 2026

Into the calm.......

I was anxiously waiting for something to go wrong today, thinking it might be a disaster since it was the last day of my current work cycle. However, that didn't happen. I managed to get through the day smoothly and reached my goal before noon. I'm hopeful that the next work cycle will follow the positive path established by today. That would be great.

Do not spare the tuckus......

I decided to forgo my usual morning routine and plunged straight into work, eager to tackle my tasks head-on. This unconventional start proved to be quite beneficial. For most of the afternoon, I enjoyed the tranquility of a house largely to myself, with the ladies occupied at their jobs. This was a stark contrast to my typical first day off, or in this case, my first half-day off, as I threw myself into my responsibilities without a moment's hesitation.

I diligently managed the bookkeeping, sorted through job boards in search of new opportunities, and updated both Photoshop and my 3D software, ensuring everything was up-to-date and ready for upcoming projects. I took a moment to double-check my medication supply, confirming that I wouldn't need to squeeze in a doctor's visit this week. Additionally, I began the task of sifting through a formidable stack of about two dozen magazines awaiting my review; a small mountain of reading that I had been meaning to tackle.

The next few days promise to be a whirlwind of activity, yet I made a point of carving out some time today to unwind. February slipped away so swiftly that March arrived almost unexpectedly, and preparing my blog for the new month consumed a considerable chunk of my time. Nevertheless, I embraced the challenge.

I also took the opportunity to organize my space in the garage, setting the stage for my new exercise regimen while creating tranquil areas for meditation and yoga. It's a vital step in my plan to make the most of my time off, allowing me to return to work feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Day one...

..and feeling good about it....

March 02, 2026

Little to do.......

Yesterday, I was proactive, so I had very little work to do today. All I needed to do was double-check the spreadsheet and see if there would be a quest for next week. So far, there isn't one, but that doesn't mean things can't change.

Very productive......

Once in a while, everything just falls into place, and this was one of those extraordinary days. Despite having tossed and turned through the night, I found myself energized and ready to take on the day at an unusually early hour. Roused by a restless sleep, I leaped into action, embracing my new routine in the freshly organized expanse of the garage. It felt invigorating to kick off the morning with a rigorous workout that included powerful punches on the heavy bag, a soothing session of Transcendental Meditation, and a series of graceful yoga poses. I've recently acquired some intriguing educational material on Tai Chi, but I want to explore it further before weaving it into my regimen.

As the dawn light started to break, I powered through my morning, finishing my studies well before the first rays of the sun poured through the windows. My emails were perfectly up-to-date, and I methodically worked my way through a stack of magazines, leaving them neat and tidy. The garage continued to unfold its potential as I organized more items and devoted a bit of time to my model project and updating several series that had been collecting digital dust on my hard drive.

Soon, it was time for some outdoor work. I eagerly pumped air into the tires of my bike, the anticipation of a test ride giving me a rush of excitement. It felt wonderful to take it out for a spin; the ride was smooth and exhilarating, although I noticed that the shifter for the upper gears was a bit stubborn. I suspect this tightness is just a result of neglect, and it should loosen up with a little more use.

After my ride, I inspected the placement of the landscaping lights adorning the front of the house. They cast a warm glow, and I'm almost ready to make their installation permanent. First, I need to tackle the flower bed, which has been left in a bit of disarray. While outside, I also took the time to mow the front lawn, hearing the satisfying sound of the mower as it sculpted the grass into a pristine carpet.

Before shifting gears to spend quality time with family in the afternoon, I tackled a few small tasks; vacuuming the car until it practically gleamed and successfully installing the new dashcam. This time, I fastened it securely, ensuring that it would be a challenge for any potential thief; at least without considerable effort.

Later, I reached out to Leanne at Neuro Source to discuss neurofeedback options. My interest is piqued by the potential benefits, but the cost is daunting. The treatment plan spans just over six months, encompassing 30 neurofeedback sessions, six sessions of microcurrent therapy, and three flotation sessions in a sensory deprivation chamber. This process aims to pinpoint and address parts of my brain that may not be operating at their best. While it won't necessarily uncover any deficiencies, it might help me with my pesky tendency to lose focus, often distracted by the slightest movement; like a squirrel darting across my path, pulling my attention away from whatever I was concentrating on.

Neurofeedback is primarily employed to treat conditions like PTSD and ADHD, and I can see how it could enhance my concentration immensely. While I've managed reasonably well with my meditation and yoga practices, I feel as though I've hit a plateau, and perhaps some external support could be beneficial. The only significant hurdle is the treatment's price tag of around $5,500, which is unfortunately not covered by insurance. It might be wiser to pursue a psychologist for a more conventional therapy approach. Don't misconstrue me; I don't believe there's anything wrong with me; at least nothing that I'm not already aware of. However, enhancing my focus has been a long-standing struggle. With improved concentration, I could achieve so much more.

As evening settled in, after enjoying cherished moments with family, I turned my attention to preparing for the busy day that lay ahead. I have an array of mechanical challenges waiting for me, including rebuilding the generator, tackling the garbage disposal, and sorting out the pool pump. I need to compile a list of the necessary chemicals for pool maintenance and make sure to dry and store the closing materials, like the pillow and cover. Tomorrow promises to be an action-packed day, and while I'm uncertain if I've rested enough today, I'm hopeful that an early start; just as Laura leaves for her crossing guard duty; will help me tackle everything on my list.

Day two...

..and not a terrible one....

March 03, 2026

Even on the off days.......

I had a full day off, a rare opportunity to relax and tend to personal matters, but instead, I found myself diving into the world of consulting. I took part in an interview for a potential consulting position, only to realize a few minutes in that I was the one being consulted on a sales pitch for franchises. It took me about 15 minutes of conversation to piece this together, a slow lightbulb moment that caught me off guard.

The consultants, like many in their field, adhered strictly to a tight schedule, initially presenting themselves as friendly and approachable. Their warm demeanor quickly shifted as we approached the 30-minute mark, revealing an urgency to wrap up the conversation and move on to the next task. It was unfortunate to witness how little time they devoted to truly understanding their potential clients, despite the impression they tried to convey.

I had allocated half an hour for this unexpected call, which interrupted my plans for the day. On a positive note, I managed to get set up for the week with Uber. I also took the time to review the historical heat maps, analyzing the data to determine the most promising areas where I would need to be tomorrow. Hopefully, they'll guide my efforts effectively.

Roll baby, Roll......

I dedicated a significant portion of my day to tackle two challenging home projects that had been on my to-do list: installing the garbage disposal and resetting the pool pump. Given the intricacies involved, I braced myself for a long day ahead. To my absolute delight, the installation of the garbage disposal was a breeze, taking less than 15 minutes. With newfound momentum, I moved on to the pool pump, which surprisingly only required an hour of my time to reset.

However, just as I felt the satisfaction of completion, I turned my attention to the generator, a task that I anticipated would be far more time-consuming. After investing a couple of hours into it, I reluctantly decided to take a break, recognizing that I needed some rest before returning to work tomorrow.

As midday approached, my stomach began to rumble, sparking thoughts of delicious pizza, my go-to treat for my days off. Unfortunately, I realized I had forgotten to purchase a frozen pizza to satisfy my craving. Not one to be easily discouraged, I set my mixer on the counter and decided to embrace the challenge of making my own pizza dough from scratch. I followed a new recipe, and the entire endeavor took about two hours, including an hour for the dough to rise. The result was a beautifully crispy pizza, the perfect blend of flavors and textures; a culinary triumph that made the effort worthwhile.

Once I wrapped up my kitchen adventure, I revisited my to-do list, feeling a profound sense of accomplishment for the day's achievements. While I could certainly use a bit more rest, I had also carved out time for immersive VR gaming, practiced my Transcendental Meditation and yoga, and even squeezed in some extra exercise. Although I haven't yet started Tai Chi, it's on the horizon, and I'm already starting to feel the positive effects of my new routine, which is an encouraging transformation.

To conclude my productive day, I spent some time working on my model and weaving words into my novel. It made for a fulfilling end to my pseudo-weekend, and I slipped into bed feeling satisfied and accomplished, right on schedule.

Back at it...

..already feeling it....

March 04, 2026

12-Hour push.......

After a brief two-day hiatus, I've returned to work, but it's quickly become a trial by fire. This morning, I ventured out to the outskirts, hoping for a fruitful start. For a time, it was refreshing to experience the open roads, but I soon found myself racking up 20 miles for each ride without seeing a dime. While I can handle this kind of situation every now and then, the reality of four consecutive rides added up to a staggering 80 unpaid miles, weighing heavily on my mind. Despite the fares being relatively generous, they hardly justify the exhaustive time and energy spent on the road.

Now, I find myself striving toward a new, ambitious goal that pushes my limits. Today, I committed to a demanding 12-hour shift. Even when fatigue gnawed at my resolve, I summoned the determination to keep going. It seems this relentless pace will be my new standard for the foreseeable future, testing my endurance every step of the way.

A negative space......

In the realm of art, the utilization of negative space can transform a piece into something truly remarkable, but it requires a skilled hand to wield it effectively. Yet, when it comes to our daily lives, the concept of negative space often eludes any semblance of positivity. That's precisely where I find myself today, navigating through a fog of uncertainty. The day began early, and despite the dim shadows of negativity lingering in my thoughts, I attempted to forge ahead with determination. Unfortunately, my efforts fell flat. I managed to trudge through my morning routine, but the spark of enthusiasm was notably absent, leaving me feeling more like a spectator than an active participant in my own life.

During lunch, I decided to take Laura's advice and dedicated thirty minutes to immersing myself in Spanish through Rosetta Stone. This small act turned out to be a refreshing reset, breathing new life into my day. However, when I returned home, a wave of realization hit me; I had completely forgotten to address the factory blockage in the garbage disposal outlet linked to the dishwasher. Thankfully, Laura, with her keen eye and willingness to help, stepped in and took care of it. I was grateful as I had been dreading the prospect of facing that task again, especially after feeling so accomplished the first time I tackled it.

Meanwhile, the ladies efficiently handled the pool cover, ensuring it was prepped and ready to be folded and stored away. If I had been brimming with energy, I would have ventured outside to tackle that along with the pool pillow, but today, I felt like a balloon slowly deflating. Tomorrow awaits, and with it, another opportunity to rise and meet the day; not to mention just eleven more days until I can finally glimpse a day of rest on the horizon. For now, I'll keep pushing through, holding onto a glimmer of hope for brighter moments ahead.

Long days...

..but not long nights....

March 05, 2026

Golden.......

The highlight of my day unfolded during my second ride after I dropped off a passenger at the airport. A new request came through, pulling me back to the terminal to pick up another traveler bound for Golden, Mississippi. For those unfamiliar, Golden is a charming little town roughly 150 miles from Memphis; a journey that encompasses a four-hour round trip and nearly devoured half of my day.

As I made my way back to Memphis, I found myself meandering through the picturesque rural landscapes of Mississippi, courtesy of the route I had chosen. Normally, I would complete one or two rides in those quiet stretches before being funneled back into the bustling city, but today was different. It felt as though I was the sole driver traversing that tranquil region, leading to some intriguing encounters with an array of passengers.

When I refer to "colorful clients," I mean that many are blissfully unaware of the vibrant rural culture, often labeled as hillbilly, that thrives in Mississippi. I mention this not with derision but as a testament to a distinct way of life. One ride took an unexpected turn when I received detailed verbal instructions guiding me to find a trailer. This required navigating down an unnamed road, followed by a slow drive along a bumpy gravel path that stretched on for three miles.

Interestingly, I've encountered various characters along the way, and while some people may hold stereotypes against hippies, I've found them to be among the happiest and most optimistic individuals around. They spark memories of my younger years; spirited and free-spirited moments that I occasionally find myself yearning for.

Riding the movement of life......

I'm currently navigating through life much like a weary traveler on a winding path. Each day feels like an uphill struggle, but don't worry, dear friends and followers; it's not as bleak as it may sound; just one of those peculiar days. I kicked off the morning on the wrong foot, a disorienting start that disrupted my usual routine in a way I can't quite put my finger on.

It all began with my beloved coffee. As a creature of habit, I relied on that steaming cup to kickstart my day. Yet, as I stumbled through my morning rituals, I completely forgot to turn on the coffee maker. When I finally remembered, my mind drifted elsewhere, and I forgot again. I left the house without my much-needed coffee or even a refreshing tea for the day ahead, leaving my mind foggy and everything feeling slightly off-kilter. It felt as though I was trudging through thick mud, each step a little heavier than the last.

Upon returning home, a new challenge awaited me: the garbage disposal had broken a seal. What a saga that turned out to be! The instructions provided were less than helpful, failing to mention that a breakout for the dishwasher was necessary. Laura, taking charge of the situation, dove in with determination, but her efforts took an unfortunate turn when she accidentally broke the upper seal. If only the previous tenants or the landlord knew how to properly install it, that seal wouldn't have even been an issue! It's just another example of the half-hearted maintenance that seems to haunt this place.

Despite the challenges, I found a small victory tonight in caring for the pool. The water level is just right, I've shocked the system, and the pump is running smoothly. I choose to celebrate these little wins, even if they're overshadowed by the day's chaos. However, this newfound success came at a cost;I crawled into bed nearly an hour later than usual, which certainly won't set me up for a stellar tomorrow.

Is mundane...

..good or bad?....

March 06, 2026

This is going to hurt.......

Today, I find myself grappling with a significant concern: the steadily escalating gas prices. The ongoing conflict with Iran, which I firmly believe should never have taken place, has driven gas prices to new heights, currently hovering around $3 per gallon. It's a scenario that anyone with a modicum of common sense could have foreseen, yet our administration appears to lack the foresight to mitigate its consequences. As the conflict continues, I fear prices may climb even higher, adding to the financial burden on many of us.

On a somewhat positive note, this surge in gas prices might lead some drivers of larger, less fuel-efficient vehicles to reconsider their choices. If those heavy-duty trucks and SUVs vanish from the streets, it could mean a slight uptick in earnings for those of us navigating the roads in smaller, more economical cars. However, despite this potential silver lining, the situation remains precarious and uncertain.

For the most part, my day has unfolded in a rather unremarkable fashion. I completed a mix of both long and short runs, but unfortunately, the considerable distance between each job has posed a challenge. While I'm on track for my weekly goals, I have yet to check my overall earnings figure. I have a sense of anticipation building; it will be a nice surprise to see just how much I've accumulated by Sunday.

The long and winding road ......

Even though today felt quite mundane, I soldiered on, eagerly anticipating a pleasant evening. Unfortunately, my mind was anything but cooperative. A storm of thoughts swirled within me, making it impossible to unwind, and it began to gnaw at my patience. The root of my stress lies beyond my control; no matter how loud I shout against the injustices of our political landscape, the disarray remains. We find ourselves devoid of strong congressional leadership, and it appears that no one dares to confront the current leadership. This reality is profoundly frustrating, and I know many others resonate with this sentiment.

I typically strive to keep political discourse out of my daily blog, but it feels impossible to ignore the prevailing atmosphere. It's as if those in power have orchestrated this continual focus on political turmoil to ensure that their presence infiltrates every American's thoughts, from the first moments of dawn until the final seconds before sleep. Their tactics often feel like an absurd show, leading us to question the sincerity behind their actions.

With that said, I'll close today's entry. The remainder of my day unfolded in an uneventful manner, slipping back into the comforting cadence of my evening routine while the ladies were out. I prepared a simple meal, indulged in some music that resonated deeply, danced with my creative muse, and lost myself in an episode of *American Horror Story*. Just another typical Friday night, navigating the delicate balance between mundanity and moments of reprieve.

It is the feast...

..or the beast....

March 07, 2026

The highs and lows.......

Today, I pushed through a test of patience that left quite an impression. My second ride brought a couple of self-proclaimed "skanks" who entered the car with raucous energy. They were loud, tipsy, and clad in nothing but T-shirts and underwear, their boisterous laughter filling the air as they made crude and lewd comments throughout the journey. I found their antics a bit amusing and managed to keep my professional demeanor intact, even as one of the women playfully tossed her extraordinarily long braids over the driver's seat, sending them cascading across my head and face while I was focused on the road.

The mischief didn't end when they exited the vehicle. As I prepared for my next ride, I discovered the aftermath of their revelry; several Kit Kat bars had been crunched into my seat, leaving a sticky mess that I had to clean up. The weather mirrored my feelings; the sky was an endless blanket of gray, and rain poured down throughout the day, adding a dreary ambiance to the experience.

As I made my way to Oxford for one of my final rides out to Ole Miss, a wave of relief washed over me as I neared the end of my shift. With only eight more days until my much-anticipated two days off, the prospect of a break felt like a shining light at the end of a long, stormy tunnel.

Here we go with feeling it again......

I'm getting plenty of sleep, but the quality is lacking, which has turned into a significant issue for me. Even though I'm spending hours in bed, I often wake up feeling just as tired as when I went to sleep. This persistent fatigue weighs heavily on me throughout the day, making it increasingly challenging to stay focused and upbeat. I find myself trudging through my responsibilities, and unfortunately, there's been no sign of improvement on the horizon.

To add to my stress, rising gas prices are pushing operational costs higher than I anticipated. Coupled with a recent decrease in my compensation, this situation feels particularly daunting. It's creating a financial strain that puts me in a difficult position, forcing me to consider my options; a process I find deeply uncomfortable as I've always preferred stability and comfort in my life.

Once I got home, I settled into my evening routine, methodically preparing for the following day. With the ladies out of the house, I seized the opportunity to unwind a bit. Strumming my guitar, I lost myself in the soothing melodies, letting the music wash over me. I also took the time to hit my heavy bag, letting out the frustrations of a long, exhausting day. It was a much-needed release that helped me clear my mind, even if just for a little while.

The end has come...

..the end of the work cycle....

March 08, 2026

Done, for now.......

Some people hold the belief that too much is never enough, but I find myself at odds with that perspective. Today unfolded in a rather overwhelming manner. As gas prices continue their relentless climb, I've observed a troubling trend: more drivers are veering off the road in what seems like a growing act of frustration or desperation. While this behavior could signal a warning sign, I can't help but feel that it poses significant challenges for rideshare drivers, like myself.

Interestingly, today turned out to be unexpectedly calm. Despite the escalating prices, it appeared as though a collective decision had been made; many drivers opted to stay within the comfort of their homes. This left me navigating a surprisingly empty stretch of road, leading to an exhausting number of miles racked up between each ride. With the work cycle drawing to a close, I chose to heed my instincts and head home a bit earlier than usual, looking to wrap up the week on a more peaceful note.

When I took the time to tally my earnings for the week, I discovered that while I had surpassed my modest goal, I had fallen short of the more ambitious target I had set for myself. It was enough to keep my spirits afloat, yet not quite sufficient to bring me true happiness. Sensing a shift in the winds for the week to come, I decided to embrace this extra time as an opportunity for rest and to tend to some personal matters that had been quietly waiting for my attention.

Take it while you can......

On days like today, I need to ensure that I don't just sit around when I decide to take a few extra hours off. Thankfully, I remembered this and, as soon as I got home, I jumped right in to take care of things. I cleaned off the back porch, built the terrarium that the ladies picked up at IKEA, and tackled several random tasks around the house. Most of these tasks had been sitting for quite a while. I worked on my model, made further edits to my novel, and then took some time to relax. I have a feeling that a hectic week is approaching, so it was wise to take a moment to reset before it begins.

Like a bullet out of a gun...

..the new cycle has begun....

March 09, 2026

In with the new.......

I have to admit that I saw this coming. As people return to the work week, the pressure on rideshare businesses in Memphis has increased. In conversations with my passengers, I've learned that many believe it's cheaper to use rideshare services than to drive themselves due to rising fuel prices. Personally, I don't think this is true; I believe people are falling for the hype. Regardless, this situation is adding significant pressure on the drivers who are still out there.

Fuel prices have surged above $3 a gallon in many areas, which is over a dollar increase in just a week for some locations. This spike in prices has caused many drivers to stay home, leaving those who are driving with a heavier burden. For instance, I found that I was the only driver available to service West Memphis, AR, but the fares were exceedingly high due to the supply and demand imbalance.

Last week, I didn't check my finances until the final day, and I plan to do the same this week. However, I have a feeling that it's been a good week for me so far. Uber is currently offering a 5% bonus for premium drivers like myself and has activated several hot zones for the first time this year. I am signed up for all of them over the next few days. Today, I worked a full 12 hours, and although I'm tired, I think it was productive.

A decent start......

As the new week dawned, I felt a surge of motivation as I embraced my daily routine. My night had been disrupted by a string of peculiar dreams, which seem to be becoming a recurring theme lately, leaving my mind somewhat weary. Nevertheless, I rose with determination, the morning light streaming through the window, and managed to begin my day right on schedule.

I navigated through my morning rituals with a sense of calm, savoring each moment without feeling rushed. I engaged in my exercise routine, feeling the endorphins kick in, before transitioning to a soothing yoga practice that stretched and relaxed my muscles. Finally, I found clarity in meditation, allowing my thoughts to settle and my spirit to recharge.

Throughout the day, I powered through tasks with an impressive focus, putting in a few extra hours as our team operated in a productive bonus mode. The thrill of collaboration and achievement propelled me forward, and by the time I returned home, I felt both physically drained and spiritually fulfilled after such a rewarding day.

Initially, I had envisioned a comforting dinner of hot dogs and creamy macaroni and cheese, warm and nostalgic. However, my plans took a delightful turn when I walked into the kitchen and discovered that Laura had made a stop at Little Caesars on her way home, bringing with her a tantalizing pizza. The smell wafted through the air, instantly elevating my spirits and transforming dinner into an indulgent feast.

As the evening unfolded, I sank into a state of relaxation, savoring each bite of the cheesy, savory pizza. With my belly satisfied, I took time to reflect and plan for the week ahead, which was shaping up to be quite intriguing with lots of new opportunities and adventures on the horizon.

Well, this is fun...

..All sarcasm intended....

March 10, 2026

Good or bad? Not sure.......

I'm feeling a bit conflicted about whether today is shaping up to be a good day or a challenging one. I've covered quite a few miles on the road, but unfortunately, the compensation for my efforts hasn't matched the distance I've driven. In the past, I enjoyed a bonus for each ride I completed, but I've recently encountered a frustrating situation where I have to travel 20 miles just to pick up a passenger. Considering the rising prices of fuel, that extra distance is beginning to weigh heavily on my mind, and I find myself questioning if this job is truly worth the effort.

This week, I'm making a conscious choice to shift my focus away from the potential earnings and instead dedicate my energy to simply getting the job done. Last week, this mindset contributed to a successful outcome for me, so I'm holding onto the hope that it will bring the same positive results this time around. As I navigate through my schedule, I can't help but look ahead and count down the five remaining days until I finally get a well-deserved break. Each passing moment brings me closer to that time off, and I'm eagerly anticipating that respite.

Full day, then relax......

My morning routine unfolded smoothly, though I found myself slightly behind schedule. Once I got moving, however, I was able to regain my pace and settle into the day. After wrapping up work, I decided to break from my usual pattern and make a stop at Walmart. With a list in hand of a few essentials, I navigated the bustling aisles, grabbing what I needed before making my way home.

Upon arriving at the house, I took a moment to document the issues with the faulty gate, snapping a few pictures to send to Superior Fence. They've promised to come out and address the problem under warranty. This has been lingering on my to-do list for over two years, ever since the fence was replaced, so the prospect of finally checking it off feels quite liberating.

While at Walmart, I couldn't resist treating myself to some indulgent comfort food. I picked up a delectable order of crispy potato skins, sinking into the chair to savor them while watching the gripping season finale of *American Horror Story: Asylum*. The episode did not disappoint, and I found myself captivated, finishing season two with a sense of satisfaction. With 11 more seasons ahead of me and the series still ongoing, I'm eager to see where the story goes next.

Later in the evening, as the house grew quiet, I attended to my emails and checked off a few lingering personal tasks. However, I made a regrettable choice regarding my sleep music. About 30 minutes in, the volume unexpectedly surged, and an intrusive ad burst through the peaceful atmosphere. While I understand the need for companies to monetize their products, I firmly believe that advertisements have no place in calming sleep music. This unfortunate interruption completely shattered my sleep cycle for the night, leaving me frustrated and wide awake.

Roll blocked...

..a squishy tire....

March 11, 2026

Damn Lamar Avenue.......

I was gliding through the day, successfully tackling my tasks and feeling accomplished. However, as I pulled up outside the house for my scheduled run with a client, disaster struck. Just as I was about to pull away, a sharp hissing sound sliced through the air, unmistakably the sound of air escaping. My low inflation light flickered to life on the dashboard; it was clear I had blown a steer tire.

The blowout was severe, leaving me with no choice but to abandon the idea of driving on it. My heart sank as I realized the implications: not only would I miss my appointment, but now I faced an interminable wait for a tow truck. What felt like an eternity stretched on as I waited for 3.5 hours, spent idly on the curb, watching the world pass by.

Finally, the tow truck arrived, an oasis in my sea of frustration, and I was whisked away to Firestone. After a quick assessment, I reluctantly parted with $26 for a new tire, feeling a mixture of relief and annoyance.

Once the new tire was installed, I was back on the road, the weight of the day's events slowly lifting. I took a moment to reflect on the experience. Despite the setback, I felt a sense of pride in how I managed the situation with poise and grace; at least, that was my perspective. I couldn't help but feel that I was growing more resilient over time, as this incident didn't overwhelm me as it might have in the past.

Taking things well......

From a financial perspective, I'm currently in the dark about my situation for the week. I've intentionally decided not to track my finances right now because I want to embrace the element of surprise when Sunday rolls around. Despite the setback of losing 3.5 hours due to a pesky flat tire, I still feel a sense of optimism about my week. I believe I'll have a better understanding of where I stand in just a few days.

This morning, before heading into work, I managed to check off everything on my to-do list, including some smaller tasks that added a touch of fulfillment to my day. Looking ahead, I'm excited to start Tai Chi next week. I have high hopes that it will offer me a sense of balance and clarity amidst the bustle of daily life. I've also decided to set aside the idea of neural therapy; I'm not convinced the potential benefits will be worth the cost. That's just my viewpoint, though, and I haven't completely ruled it out yet.

When I returned home in the evening, I could feel the weight of my earlier frustration creeping in, a result of the time lost to that unpredictable mechanical failure. But then, a delightful surprise awaited me on the kitchen island, three thoughtful gifts! Two interesting new T-shirts and a uniquely designed rolling pin that has adjustable thickness settings for dough. I had every intention of trying it out right away, but then I remembered I was out of pepperoni, which meant no calzone for me tonight.

With just four days left until my much-anticipated time off, I plan to focus on getting the generator repaired. I need to find out whether it can be mended or if I should consider replacing it altogether. From there, I'll navigate my next steps.

Not really as planned...

..but maybe still okay....

March 12, 2026

Back at it.......

I had to put in some extra effort to get back on track for the week after dealing with a flat tire yesterday. I was running behind schedule this morning, but ultimately I managed to rally, and everything turned out fine. The rides have settled into a more balanced mix of long and short runs, and for the most part, the clients have been cooperative and not overly demanding.

However, I did have one young lady near the college who was celebrating a bit too much and ended up being sick; thankfully, she managed to wait until she was outside the car. She was a little tipsy, so I made sure she got into one of the buildings safely before I drove away. After the events of yesterday, a workday without any drama was definitely a welcome change.

Let's take it to the push......

I'm starting to attune myself to the world around me, acutely aware that my two days off are just around the corner. Lately, each morning has greeted me with a heavy sense of lethargy, as if a thick fog of weariness has settled over my motivation to rise and shine. While I can muster enough determination to push through my daily tasks, every step feels like a bit of an uphill battle.

This morning, I found myself running a bit behind schedule, but resolute to complete my morning rituals. After checking off each item on my to-do list, I felt a spark of inspiration and decided to tackle one additional task, even at the cost of being late for work; I delved into another chapter of my novel. With excitement, I noted that I'm now down to just five chapters left until I can finally call that project complete.

Fortunately, my Uber shift was largely uneventful, with only minor hiccups here and there. When I finally returned home in the afternoon, my intention was to sink into my work chair, unwind with a hearty meal, and enjoy an early night's rest. However, fate had other plans for me. A call from Keely came through, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm as she wanted to explore the ins and outs of ride-sharing and tasks concerning her daughter. True to form, our conversation meandered beyond its initial topic, stretching into a sprawling 90-minute exchange covering everything from the intriguing Flat Earth theory to passionate debates about politics; our usual wide-ranging subjects.

Rather than twiddle my thumbs during the lengthy call, I seized the opportunity to make productive use of my time. Sitting cross-legged on the garage floor, I set to work rebuilding the generator, a task I had earmarked for Monday. I meticulously replaced the carburetor and all its surrounding components, cleaning out the old parts with care. However, the real test of my handiwork will come tomorrow when I finally put it to the test.

In the midst of our delightful discussion, I realized Keely might get along splendidly with Emily, so I initiated the process of introducing them to one another. I have a strong feeling they would form a great friendship, particularly since they live in close proximity, opening the door for spirited public debates. I pity anyone who might find themselves caught in the crossfire of their discussions, as both women are known for their strong and fiercely held opinions.

After wrapping up the generator rebuild and our spirited phone call; thankfully interrupted by my wife's arrival, providing me with the perfect excuse to end the lengthy chat; I suddenly became aware of the time and my rumbling stomach. Laura suggested we enjoy breakfast for dinner, prompting me to whip up a comforting plate of corned beef hash, perfectly fried eggs, and crispy toast. While it might not have been the culinary masterpiece of the evening, it was a meal that surely satisfied both our appetites and spirits.

Friday...

..I used to love Fridays....

March 13, 2026

Wow, I am getting tired.......

The day unfolded with an event that would linger in my memory. I found myself driving a woman who communicated solely in French. Having dabbled in French for a while, I felt a flicker of confidence, but my limited grasp of the language soon became evident and sparked a series of misunderstandings. After a lengthy and somewhat futile attempt to bridge our language gap, she finally managed to get her translation software up and running just as we were merging onto I-40. In that moment, her anxiety became clear: she was deeply fearful of the highway and desperately wanted to know if I could divert us onto back roads instead. Unfortunately, by the time the meaning of her message hit me, we were already locked in a commitment to the freeway.

Our time on I-40 was brief; less than two miles; but it was packed with stress. Almost immediately, a reckless driver veered onto the on-ramp directly in front of me, hitting the brakes without warning. My instincts kicked in, and I had to employ quick reflexes and some creative maneuvering to avoid a potentially disastrous collision from both the front and rear. After navigating past that close call, I caught a glimpse of my passenger's distressed expression as I finally dropped her off at her destination.

As could be expected, she filed a complaint against me for hazardous driving. While the thought weighed heavily on my mind, I felt a sense of reassurance given my record of 7,200 safe rides. Surely, Uber would consider my history of safety before making any rash decisions. I shared my account of the day's chaotic events in my report, and by the time I settled into bed, I had still not received any notifications of being deactivated.

As the day progressed and the sun rose high in the sky, my car started giving me trouble. It began stalling repeatedly, each time sending my heart into my throat. I decided to make a pit stop to buy a new air filter, a small but necessary repair. While I was there, I confirmed that both O'Reilly's and AutoZone had the oxygen sensor I needed, along with the tool required for its installation. It was clear that resolving this issue would need to take priority come Sunday, as I hoped to steer clear of further mechanical woes in the days ahead.

Take those small wins......

My morning routine has settled into a comforting rhythm, each step carefully choreographed to ensure a seamless start to my day. I woke up feeling refreshed as the hint of sunlight pushed through the horizon, casting warm golden hues across the landscape. Determined to make the most of my time before heading out, I navigated through my tasks with ease, savoring the tranquil moments that punctuated the early hours. As I sit here contemplating the day ahead, the realization strikes me that there are only three days left in the workweek. A familiar yearning for a much-needed respite begins to bubble up within me.

Throughout the day, I carried on with my work, the usual stressors swirling around me, yet I handled them without much fuss. On my commute home, I seized the opportunity to tackle a few small personal errands, each completed task feeling like a small victory.

Once I finally crossed the threshold of my home, I wasted no time and dove straight into a project I had been eager to complete: installing the new air filter. With a sense of purpose, I also decided to test the generator, my heart racing with anticipation. To my delight, it roared to life just as it should. Notably, I was even able to start it by the pull string, a feat I had struggled with for a long time. This small triumph felt like a testament to my persistent repairs. I plan to give it another run tomorrow; should it cooperate again, I'll deem the project a success. To be proactive, I've set it up to start and run every two weeks—coordinating this with the schedule for my shop vac might just streamline my efforts further.

As the day draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the mere two days left before the time off; a flicker of excitement stirs inside me. I'm hopeful for a fishing trip on Monday, yet first, I need to tend to my car's oxygen sensor. Sunday night seems like the perfect window to tackle that chore, allowing me a couple of days to iron out any possible glitches before I plunge back into the workweek. Adequate preparation often paves the path for smoother days ahead.

I capped off the evening with a delicious plate of cheesy chicken while immersing myself in the eerie world of "American Horror Story: Coven." Though I'm only on the second episode, it has already captivated my attention. In an era when many shows seem to rehash tired plots, finding one with a compelling storyline and rich character development feels like a rare gem. It's refreshing to engage with something that keeps me guessing, defying predictability at every turn.

Rough days...

..Will it get better?....

March 14, 2026

This kinda sucked!.......

I can honestly say that today has not been my best day in recent memory. This morning, my car, which has been showing signs of distress for some time now with the persistent glow of the check engine light, finally chose to make the situation untenable. I had known for a while that the issue stemmed from a faulty oxygen sensor, but despite my best intentions, I kept pushing the repairs to the back burner.

Today, however, the car decided it was time to escalate the problems. As I navigated through traffic, it began stalling each time I came to a stop, creating a frustrating cycle of uncertainty. Each halt left me anxiously wondering whether I would be able to move forward again, and the fear of being stranded loomed large.

Realizing that I couldn't ignore it any longer, I reluctantly cut my day short to address the mounting issue. I had hoped to resolve the problem quickly so I could hit the road again without delay, but unforeseen complications arose. You'll need to check below to see what unfolded next. Thankfully, tomorrow still lies ahead of me before the week wraps up, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos.

Not as planned......

It has often been said that in life, sometimes you find yourself as the bug, and other times, you're the windshield. I can't recall who shared this wisdom, but today, I find myself holding them in high regard. This morning started off brilliantly; I was filled with energy and productivity, checking off tasks before I even thought about heading to the office. I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to take on the day.

However, my car decided to throw a wrench in my plans. The persistent check engine light had become a source of anxiety, and today, it seemed to finally make its demands known. As I drove, I experienced a frustrating interruption every time I came to a complete stop; the engine would stall, making the process of restarting an exercise in patience.

I realized I could no longer ignore the issue I had been postponing until Monday. With determination, I pulled into the AutoZone parking lot and picked up an oxygen sensor, planning to tackle the spark plugs and coils next. Unfortunately, they didn't sell those components as a bundle, so I drove over to O'Reilly's in search of better options. There, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff's helpfulness. They informed me that I only needed to replace the coils if they were showing an error code. This insight not only spared me the hassle but also saved me nearly $300; a welcome bonus.

Armed with my new supplies, I approached the task of replacing the oxygen sensor with enthusiasm. However, my optimism was met with resistance; the sensor, stubbornly positioned and having endured the brunt of engine heat, refused to budge. I wrestled with it for nearly two hours, my patience waning as I tried various techniques to coax it loose. Frustration began to creep in, and after much effort, I reluctantly admitted defeat and decided to seek professional help at Firestone.

Initially, they informed me that their schedule was packed, and they wouldn't be able to assist until Monday. Undeterred, I persuaded them to fit me in for a quick repair, and they graciously agreed to have a technician take a look at my vehicle. The task itself was relatively straightforward, but it did require specialized tools that I lacked. After about three hours, the repair was finally completed, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me.

As I made my way back home, I looked forward to resting before diving into the final stretch of this work cycle tomorrow. However, once home, I struggled to find relaxation; my mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, racing from one concern to another as I tried to unwind from the day's frustrations.

Caesar would understand...

..The Ives of March....

March 15, 2026

That would be, NOPE.......

Today was supposed to be a straightforward day, but it quickly spiraled into a frustrating ordeal. I managed to go for a single ride, the engine purring smoothly at first, but soon the familiar anxieties crept back in as the check engine light flickered ominously on the dashboard. My heart sank as I approached a stop, feeling the car shudder violently, stalling as if it were gasping for breath. Each time I tried to restart the engine, it struggled, reluctant to turn over, as if it were protesting against my attempts to coax it back to life.

It was then that I remembered: the mechanic I usually trust with these nagging issues wouldn't be back until Monday morning. A wave of frustration washed over me; it felt like I was caught in a relentless cycle of waiting and uncertainty. Resigned to my predicament, I made the slow journey back home, all the while grappling with my thoughts about the car and the obligations I still needed to address amidst this mechanical madness.

Take advantage of the time......

As the car sputtered and came to a halt, marking an end to my day, I felt an initial wave of frustration wash over me, tempting me to sink into a pit of despondency. Yet, I quickly shook off that negativity and decided to channel my energy into a productive afternoon.

First up was the generator. I carefully set it up and let it run through a thorough 30-minute cycle, listening to the steady hum as it worked its magic. I wanted to ensure the fuel system was clean and ready for any future demands. Next, I turned my attention to the car itself, giving it a much-needed deep clean both inside and out. With soap and water, I scrubbed away the dust and grime, achieving a brilliant shine on the exterior, while inside, I cleared out the clutter and refreshed the air, leaving it smelling delightful.

Once the car sparkled, I shifted gears to the pool. I approached this task methodically, starting with a vacuum of the bottom to suck up the gathered debris. I then bent down to collect the pesky seed balls that had accumulated, and with determination, I wiped down the walls, ensuring they sparkled. Finally, I skimed the surface to remove any floating leaves and debris. I knew that this would be a recurring task, but today I made solid progress.

With the pool attended to, I ventured into the yard. As I leaned against the climbing wall, I was alarmed to discover it was teetering on the brink of collapse. This project had long lingered in my mind, so I went into action mode. With a firm grip, I flipped the wall over and began disassembling it piece by piece. The wood was alarmingly soft and rotten, underscoring the need for a complete teardown. I then turned my focus to the yard, pushing away the fallen leaves that cluttered around the pool and the shed, which I emptied of its contents.

Knowing that rainstorms were looming on the horizon, I carefully covered items like the mini cycle, leaving it momentarily outside but protected from the elements. My next goal was to detach the shed from its rickety base and move it to a sturdier foundation; this task had been on my list for what felt like ages.

Amid all the outdoor work, I also made time to dive back into my novel, polished up my downloads, and put some order into the chaos of my email inbox. After a day filled with accomplishments, I felt a profound sense of satisfaction wash over me, freeing me up for tomorrow's focus on the car without the weight of unfinished tasks looming over my head.

I couldn't wait to install the new bike rack on the car. In under three minutes, I had it attached and ready to hit the road with my bike securely in tow. I then rummaged through the shed and unearthed two bikes, which are now slated for refurbishment. Once that's completed, our family will have a total of four bikes ready for adventures.

As the day wound down, I had planned to unwind with a movie, but exhaustion swept over me like a wave, and I succumbed to a brief 90-minute nap at my desk. What had begun as a troublesome day morphed into a surprisingly productive and fulfilling one. With rainstorms approaching, I welcomed the respite that would force me to postpone outdoor tasks originally planned for Monday and Tuesday; a small victory in my book. As long as the car cooperates tomorrow, I'm optimistic that I'll be back on track and ready to tackle whatever comes next.

A negative day...

..Just could not flip the switch....

March 16, 2026

Car troubles.......

I set out early in the morning, filled with a mix of hope and anxiety as I drove my car to Firestone, where I was scheduled to have the camshaft sensor replaced and a secondary check engine code examined. When I arrived at the bustling garage, I noticed two cars already in line ahead of me. In a moment of spontaneity, I opted to do something a bit unconventional;I decided not to wait at the shop with my vehicle. Looking back, this turned out to be a wise choice. Even though it meant incurring the cost of an Uber for both trips, I would soon realize that I had spared myself from spending a significant portion of my day at the service center; the entire process took a grueling five hours.

However, the saga didn't end once my car was serviced. As soon as I slid into the driver's seat and turned the ignition, my heart sank; the dreaded check engine light flickered back to life. This time, I chose to remain at the garage, anxiously anticipating what they would uncover. After three laborious hours, the technicians diagnosed the issue as a potentially faulty oxygen sensor; the exact component they had just replaced the day prior. To their credit, they swiftly installed a new one under warranty, yet, much to my dismay, the error persisted.

Despite the frustration, I noticed that the engine seemed to be running a bit smoother and, crucially, didn't show signs of stalling. However, I knew it wasn't a complete victory; tomorrow, I plan to conduct a more thorough assessment by running the engine for about an hour. If it stays stable and doesn't fail me, I may have to decide to continue driving it as is while I weigh my options carefully. The financial burden looms over me; I'm upside down on the car, and I doubt I could recoup the amount I owe as a trade-in. Thoughtful consideration is essential as I navigate this tricky situation.

Still riding the positive wave......

Reflecting on the whirlwind of events surrounding my car over the past few days, I feel I've managed to maintain a certain level of composure. Today, despite its share of frustrations, I endeavored to ride a wave of positivity that carried me through most of the day. It wasn't until late in the afternoon that my spirits began to falter.

I spent nearly eight hours grappling with car troubles, a lengthy ordeal that completely derailed my plans for my much-anticipated day off. The experience was taxing, especially as I returned home while they conducted the preliminary service on my vehicle, which added to my mounting frustration. On a brighter note, being at home allowed me to take a crucial call from Superior Fence. They reached out to confirm they could dispatch their technicians to mend the damaged gate; a task that had lingered on my to-do list for far too long. It felt incredibly relieving to have that finally resolved, as the technicians arrived and promptly addressed the issue with skill and efficiency before I set out to collect my car.

Unfortunately, my expectation of a quick retrieval proved naive, as I didn't anticipate the possibility of unforeseen complications. As the clock ticked past noon, I found myself waiting at Firestone, my stomach rumbling after only three sausages and a single cup of coffee for breakfast many hours prior. Time crawled by, and when I finally emerged from the shop, it was nearly 4:00 PM, leaving me with a sense of annoyance and unproductive regret.

Though I managed to squeeze in some light tasks from my ever-growing to-do list during my time at home, I didn't quite succeed in crossing anything off. I did make a bit of progress on my model, but overall, the day felt like a series of setbacks; a frustrating puzzle that remained unsolved.

I should have gone to work...

..But I sort-of did....

March 17, 2026

A phone day.......

When the floodgates open, they open hard. This morning, I reactivated my job hunting accounts—a task I've done several times over the past year; but this time felt different. Instead of receiving calls from companies like Aflac offering sales positions, I got genuine calls. They weren't great, but they weren't terrible either. I fielded a total of 48 calls, resulting in 12 solid offers and a few other opportunities.

The only issue is that most of these opportunities are in logistics, specifically trucking. I also received a message from one of my old headhunters indicating that the price of forklift driver training has dropped significantly again. I found a few local companies that offer training for around $100, so I believe I've chosen a path forward.

After speaking with several recruiters, I've narrowed it down to my top four choices for fallback plans. Tomorrow, I'm going to test my car to see if it is operational for Uber, but I will also make an appointment for forklift training to obtain my license and go from there.

I discovered a couple of trucking companies that offer five-day plans, but I'm uncertain about going back on the road. I know from past experience that recruiters often exaggerate the truth, and their promises don't always match reality. This was the case with US Express and other companies I've worked for; big promises but little delivery. For now, I'm going to take things as they come and see what happens.

Pensive, but ready, I think......

I had grand plans for the day, envisioning a productive morning spent in the fresh air. My agenda included working on the shed in the backyard, meticulously removing the climbing wall that had long lost its charm, and tending to the unruly yard that desperately needed attention. However, those ambitions were swiftly derailed when the phone rang incessantly, disrupting my workflow.

The day turned into a marathon of conversations, stretching nearly seven hours as I fielded a staggering 48 phone calls. The callers were a mixed bag; some were incredibly pleasant, their voices warm and friendly, while others were downright hostile, their words sharp and accusatory. I diligently jotted down notes on each interaction, trying to keep track of the varied inquiries and complaints that came pouring in.

Despite the lack of excitement, sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. I genuinely enjoy driving for Uber; the thrill of meeting new passengers and the freedom of the road keeps me engaged. Yet, there's an undercurrent of anxiety swirling around my vehicle. It's been giving me trouble, and I find myself on edge about its reliability. My next course of action is to take it to the dealership, letting their mechanics delve into the issue. I'm too financially invested in it at the moment to think about replacing it, so for now, I just have to make do.

Life feels a bit chaotic at the moment, and if you know me; many of you do; you understand my deep-seated desire for stability. Don't misunderstand me; I appreciate a dash of chaos in life, but not when it encroaches this closely to my personal comfort zone.

Back to work...

..The mini-test....

March 18, 2026

Short, but okay.......

In preparation for my upcoming work adventures, I knew it was essential to carve out some quality time with my wife to weigh our options. I decided a face-to-face conversation would be the most effective way to delve into the details and ensure we were both on the same page. On my agenda was also the critical task of evaluating our car's condition, as I needed to confirm its roadworthiness for the journeys ahead.

This morning, I rose before dawn, my enthusiasm for a long run pushing me to set out early. Fortunately, during my ascent and descent across town, the car performed flawlessly, showing no signs of distress. With that worry temporarily behind me, I returned home and settled down with my wife to map out our plan for the future.

While it might have shortened my workday, I felt a rush of confidence about the car's performance. Yet, lurking in the background was an unresolved issue: the oxygen sensor persistently threw an engine code, even after being replaced not once, but twice. This nagging problem suggested there could be a deeper, more complex issue at play; perhaps an errant onboard CPU or a malfunctioning catalytic converter. Without a thorough diagnosis from a dealership, pinpointing the exact source of the trouble could become a costly endeavor.

On a brighter note, I was relieved to note that the engine hasn't stalled since the last hiccup; a small victory for now. With a hopeful heart, I'm choosing to remain optimistic as I navigate this journey ahead.

Hard work pays off......

After finishing up some business and with the ladies out enjoying their day, I seized the opportunity to tackle two significant projects in the backyard. The first task was to dismantle the climbing wall, a structure that had provided countless hours of fun for the kids, but was now more of an eyesore than an asset. With careful precision, I took it apart, piece by piece, feeling a mix of nostalgia and satisfaction as I cleared the area.

Next on my agenda was the shed, a sturdy little structure that had become somewhat of a fixture in my backyard. I disconnected it from its base, utilizing some muscle and strategy to maneuver it out of its previous spot. With a bit of effort, I was able to shift it to the side, creating a blank canvas for the new flooring I intended to reconstruct.

The sun was beginning to set by the time I completed both tasks, and I could feel the fatigue settling in my bones, a testament to the hard work of the day. Yet, the satisfaction of having everything in order outweighed my tiredness. As I cleaned up, I took a moment to set an appointment for my forklift training on Friday. This new venture meant I needed to maximize my efforts tomorrow by driving for Uber all day, a necessary step to bolster my numbers for the week.

Cliche' but when it rains...

..it pours....

March 19, 2026

Bump, bump, BUMP.......

Today, I found myself back on the road for a full workday, and for the most part, everything went smoothly. However, as the day drew to a close, I faced an unexpected challenge. I needed to drop a technician off at the airport, and as we approached our destination, an unusual occurrence halted our progress completely. For the first time in two years, traffic came to a standstill, and we were left sitting in the car for nearly an hour because of a suspicious package alert.

As we inched forward, the atmosphere felt tense, thick with anticipation and uncertainty. When we finally cleared the congestion, I was taken aback by the scene before me: the aftermath of a significant response effort with approximately twenty police cars lined up, their lights flashing in a chaotic array of blue and red, and a bomb squad vehicle stationed nearby, ready for any potential threat. The whole situation left me frustrated, casting a shadow over the otherwise productive day.

Once I returned to work after that dramatic detour, I noticed that my air conditioning had started to falter. By the time I arrived home, it was blowing nothing but hot air; an unwelcome surprise after a long day. I took a moment to research the steps needed to fix it, and while the process didn't seem overly complicated, I couldn't shake the feeling of skepticism that came from past experiences. I've been fooled before, and I knew this might not be as straightforward as it appeared.

Already tired......

This week has been a real struggle for me, with one setback after another making it feel like I'm stuck in a never-ending cycle of frustration. I started my day on a positive note, treating myself to a hearty breakfast that included sausage, Chibata toast, and a steaming cup of coffee. I left the house exactly at the time I had planned, which felt like a small victory in itself. However, things took a turn for the worse as the day unfolded.

Despite my intentions, the events of the day didn't align with my expectations. When I finally returned home in the evening, I was exhausted; both physically and mentally. All I wanted was to collapse onto the chair and zone out for a while. I did manage to push myself to be productive; I spent some time diving into research about necessary car repairs that I cannot put off for too long, and I also dedicated some hours to studying for my forklift training course scheduled for tomorrow. However, as much as I tried to stay focused, I couldn't shake off the feeling of being unproductive and somewhat like a bump on a log. It's been a tough week, and I hope tomorrow brings a better outcome.

It was supposed to be a good day...

..but things happen....

March 20, 2026

The big crunch.......

Today started with so much promise, but it took a turn for the worse. I set out on my journey right on schedule, eager to arrive at my first pickup. However, as I found myself waiting at a traffic signal, the unexpected struck. I attempted to shift my car into gear, but it was as if the vehicle had betrayed me; the clutch had failed completely. With a sinking feeling, I had to cancel the ride and somehow maneuvered my way back home, a mix of frustration and disappointment swirling within me.

This incident was particularly concerning because I had a forklift training session scheduled for this morning, an opportunity I was determined to seize. At first, I thought about taking an Uber to get there, but the fare was exorbitant and would have significantly dented my wallet. Thankfully, Laura came to the rescue with a generous offer to lend me her car. While this solved my immediate transportation problem, it left the unresolved issue of my own vehicle loitering in the back of my mind, waiting for attention in the afternoon.

Once I arrived at the training class, I was pleasantly surprised by how manageable the content was. The hours flew by, and by the end, I proudly walked away with my forklift certification in hand; a tangible achievement that opened doors to a multitude of job opportunities. The thrill of new possibilities was a welcome distraction from the car troubles that awaited me later.

The next step on my agenda is to polish up my resume and start sending out applications to take full advantage of the leads I gained. While the car situation is certainly an inconvenience that I'll have to tackle, I reminded myself that it's more of a personal hurdle rather than something that affects my professional aspirations. In the grand scheme of things, though, this week has felt overwhelmingly challenging.

Jump into action......

After such a good morning, I was really expecting to have a pleasant day. Unfortunately, the issues with my car cut my work short, and based on the situation, it looks like that will be it for the week. This is disheartening, but I'm not letting it affect my mood.

I finished the forklift course and got back home with plenty of time, only to be faced with the car trouble. I called AAA and had the car towed to Firestone, confident in their professionalism to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. Although their website advertises that they are a full transmission facility, the service manager informed me that this is only the case at selected stores.

What I have is a clutch issue. With the right tools and a YouTube video, I could fix it in my driveway, but unfortunately, I don't have the proper tools. The service technician suggested contacting the Wolfchase store, as they might have the staff who can provide the service I need. I will make that call first thing in the morning.

Since the car is already dropped off and parked, I had no choice but to leave it there overnight. I just hope it doesn't get stolen. After returning home, I spent the evening planning for this unexpected time off.

I should be more annoyed...

..but I am not....

March 21, 2026

Is it work?.......

Given that the car is crucial for my job, I intend to integrate the steps I took to initiate the repair process into my workday. However, I'll keep this overview concise since many aspects are personal and will be explored in more detail in the upcoming section.

The morning was consumed by the task of moving my car from Firestone to the Kia dealership on Covington Pike, a journey that took approximately five hours. This endeavor proved to be quite frustrating and came with its fair share of challenges. For a comprehensive account of the hurdles I faced during this process, more details can be found in the section below.

Is lack of reaction a reaction?......

Today unfolded as a day intricately woven with numbers and tasks. The morning began with a focused effort on preparing for the upcoming days, culminating in the completion and submission of 10 job applications. Despite the flurry of activity, I braced myself for the reality that responses might not come until at least Monday, if not later.

Once the applications were dispatched, the morning adventures took center stage. I seized the opportunity to tackle my entire to-do list, meticulously bringing everything back on track. I couldn't help but see this as a silver lining amidst the chaos I had faced with my car troubles. My next priority was addressing the car issues head-on. The moment Firestone in Wolfchase opened, I placed a call, only to be met with the disappointing news that they don't handle transmission repairs. A wave of frustration washed over me, leading me to reach out to eight more Firestone locations. This frustrating search only added to my feelings of annoyance, especially since their website misleadingly advertised their transmission services. For now, though, I decided to set that issue aside.

Next on my agenda was contacting Gossett Kia. A message indicated they were closed, despite the bustling activity inside. Opting for a direct approach, I drove over to speak with them personally; a decision that proved fortuitous. Upon my arrival, I quickly learned that the phone issues stemmed from a skeleton crew still grappling with a heavy workload. As I explained my predicament, a representative named Ben assured me that my problem was manageable.

Eager to resolve the car situation, I returned to Firestone and called AAA, who took a staggering 90 minutes to respond so that my vehicle could be transported to the dealership. As the driver began loading my car onto the flatbed, he revealed an alarming discovery: my catalytic converter had been cut off. This theft occurred between when I dropped off my car at Firestone yesterday and this morning, igniting a firestorm of negative thoughts within me. Thirty years ago, I might have reacted differently to this provocation, but today I chose the high road and promptly called the police instead.

A Memphis police officer arrived within 15 minutes, diligently taking my statement and gathering all requisite information. Going above and beyond, he even dusted the hood for fingerprints, noting the noticeable impressions left behind. It was a constructive interaction, though it became clear that Kia wouldn't be able to assess my car until at least Monday. The vehicle is also facing two recalls that need to be addressed, along with a comprehensive inspection to evaluate the clutch and catalytic converter. Once the evaluations have been completed, I will be contacted to discuss my options.

With the police interaction behind me, I made my way back home, where I took the extra step of filling the tank of my car to ease Laura's burdens. However, upon arriving home, I found myself in a frustrating predicament; unable to work without my car. Instead of succumbing to idle brooding, I resolved to power through and tackle my extensive to-do list with renewed vigor.

First, I turned my attention to the front yard, which had grown wild and untamed, resembling a miniature jungle. I decided to extend my efforts to the side yard, pouring myself into the project until the lawn mower's battery finally expired. Between tasks, I took a moment to recline and indulge in the last few delightful episodes of "The Nanny," a nostalgic treat.

While the lawn mower battery recharged, I shifted my focus to dismantling the climbing wall in the backyard, tidying up the surroundings as I went. Once the battery was replenished, I conducted a test cut in the back, successfully vacuuming the seed pods that had scattered across the grass. However, exhaustion began to set in, signaling that it was time to call it a day.

I wrapped up my workday with a long-awaited and refreshing exfoliating shower; a simple pleasure I had been eagerly anticipating for weeks. As the sun dipped below the horizon, tomorrow was Sunday, and I harbored hopes of sustaining this productive momentum. For dinner, I savored a comforting plate of spaghetti before drifting off to bed, though not all at once.

Preparing plans?.......

I find myself standing on the precipice of an uncertain future, acutely aware that change is looming on the horizon. This morning, I meticulously updated my resume, carefully tailoring it to showcase my skills and experiences before submitting it to several job websites. With determined resolve, I applied for ten additional positions, setting a goal of ten applications a day to sustain consistent progress while avoiding the overwhelm that can so easily accompany a job search.

1 So far, my efforts have yielded seven responses, yet the offers I've received are disappointing; none exceed the meager pay of $12.50 an hour. Each of these opportunities comes from companies notorious for their high turnover rates and dismal treatment of their employees, which raises red flags in my mind. While the pressure to secure a job is palpable, I'm not quite desperate enough to accept a position under such circumstances. Besides, if I truly wanted a job in that realm, I know Murphy's is always hiring, and given my qualifications, I would likely be a strong contender for a role there. But for now, I'm holding out for something better.

Down, but not out......

It's Sunday, a day that typically finds me either on the road for work midweek or savoring my last moments of leisure before a break. However, this week took an unexpected turn due to car troubles. Faced with two choices; sulk in frustration or seize the moment; I opted to roll up my sleeves and dive into some much-needed work around the house. By the end of the day, I certainly put in the effort, jokingly declaring I was "without a tail" to describe my version of busyness.

I began my day by tackling my extendable chainsaw, which had been gathering dust and was in dire need of attention. After a series of adjustments, I got it humming once more and turned my focus to sharpening the blades. The task was painstaking and demanded patience, but the reward was worth it. With a swift motion, the newly sharpened blade effortlessly sliced through a branch that had stubbornly remained on the ground since last year. It felt satisfying to see the clean cut, a testament to my hard work.

Next, I turned my attention to the backyard, where a chaotic carpet of fallen debris awaited. The branches and leaves had piled up over the months, and the electric mower struggled valiantly through the mess. It took three full battery charges to make a dent, but I persevered, fueled by determination.

In the midst of this effort, I used my leaf blower creatively as a vacuum and mulcher. However, it didn't come without its hiccups; breaking down twice during my task. Each time, my resourcefulness shone through as I managed to fix it, allowing me to continue my rejuvenating cleanup. As I moved about, I also gathered remnants from where I had repositioned the shed, creating an organized space in what had become a cluttered area.

Finally, I approached the pool, which was in desperate need of a good scrubbing. As I delved into the task, I discovered more debris than anticipated. The waterline was dotted with leaves and twigs, and it quickly became clear that this wouldn't be a one-and-done effort; I'll need to revisit it in the coming days. Still, I reminded myself that progress comes in steps, no matter how small.

Earlier in the morning, I had taken a break from the physical labor to update my resume and submit a handful of job applications. It was a productive start that filled me with a sense of hope for the week ahead, despite lingering concerns about my car situation. Car dealerships are often slow and notoriously pricey, but I've made peace with the uncertainty, accepting that for now, I can only wait and see what unfolds.

By the time the sun began to set, exhaustion had fully enveloped me. I treated myself to some leftover pizza, savoring each bite as I relaxed after a long, hot shower that washed away the day's toil. Tomorrow is another day, and I'm ready to face it head-on.

Disappointing.......

Today, I dedicated my time primarily to making phone calls, a total of about 30 throughout the day. As I reflect on the outcome, I can't help but feel uncertain about their productivity. While I've received a few job offers, none have truly captured my interest or felt appealing to me.

The most encouraging prospects appear to be in the logistics sector, yet the thought of returning to the road fills me with an overwhelming sense of dread. I'm not exaggerating when I say that just imagining myself behind the wheel again, especially for companies that expect drivers to be away for two to three weeks at a stretch, is daunting. It's an exhausting thought, conjuring up feelings of anxiety and stress.

On the other hand, local job opportunities seem dishearteningly limited, typically offering around $12.50 an hour, a wage that simply isn't sustainable for a comfortable living. Given the circumstances, I'm starting to lean toward the idea of driving for Uber as the most viable option on the table.

Go with the flow......

I'm feeling a bit frustrated that I haven't received any updates about the car. While I didn't expect to hear anything so soon, the uncertainty is still nagging at me. Once the sun rose and I finished my morning routine, I dedicated a substantial portion of my day to working in the yard. The task of getting everything back in order has been quite a journey, but I can see that my efforts are paying off. By the end of tomorrow, I'm confident I'll be satisfied with the state of things. Immersing myself in outdoor chores has been a welcome distraction, even though it hasn't entirely alleviated my worries. I'm choosing to tackle each day as it comes, one step at a time.

As time moves forward...

..choices are made....

FedEx?.......

I have consciously decided to embrace the inconvenience of lacking reliable transportation as an unexpected vacation for the time being. I had originally intended to take a getaway in the spring, but my current situation has imposed an unplanned hiatus on my usual routine, and I am choosing to accept it with an open mind. Thankfully, by the end of the day, the arrangements for my car finally materialized, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos.

Today, my primary objective was to pursue a local propane driver position with AmeriGas, in addition to submitting a comprehensive application to FedEx. As the day drew to a close, I had the opportunity to partake in a virtual interview with FedEx that I found promising. However, the hiring process there reminds me of my experiences with Walmart; slow and tedious. The Zoom interview barely lasted 10 minutes, and I couldn't shake the feeling that the interviewer was merely checking off boxes, going through the motions rather than engaging in a genuine discussion. Whether this is a deliberate strategy or not, it seems they utilize such brief interviews to sift through candidates and eliminate those they deem unfit.

I gave my verbal consent for a background check, which is expected to take between 7 to 10 business days. The entire hiring process appears to be drawn out and convoluted, but once I manage to climb aboard the roster, I could potentially qualify for around 30 different positions. I suppose only time will reveal how everything pans out.

Resolution on the wind......

Today's big news revolves around the long-awaited answer regarding my car repairs. While the news isn't ideal, it's a bit of a relief considering my worst fears. The total estimate for replacing the clutch and the catalytic converter comes to a hefty $3,900. Out of that, a staggering $2,500 is earmarked solely for the catalytic converter. This substantial expense is enough to spur me into action, and I plan to reach out to GEICO first thing tomorrow morning to file an insurance claim. While I'm uncertain if this particular repair is covered under our policy, it's worth a shot, and I'm hopeful for some financial relief.

Another highlight of my day was the interview with FedEx, which I had been eagerly anticipating. I also took some time to explore the array of temporary job positions available in the Memphis area. Upon crunching the numbers, it seems I qualify for approximately 680 of these roles! However, the catch is that each position requires a separate application. I am faced with a decision: I can either carefully choose which jobs to apply for or leverage AI to assist me in completing the applications faster. If I decide to manually sift through the positions, I might easily become overwhelmed and lose track of my progress. But then again, if I decide to use AI, I must ensure that it accurately fills in all the necessary details. I'll take some time tonight to weigh my options and make a choice by morning.

In the meantime, the car repair is expected to wrap up by Thursday. This afternoon, I embraced my adventurous spirit and set up a campsite right in my backyard. I pulled out all my camping gear, and it felt great to see everything lined up and ready for use. The tent was surprisingly easy to pitch, and the portable battery pack made inflating the air mattress a breeze. Although I won't be staying out there tonight, I'm contemplating spending tomorrow night under the stars and breaking down the camp early Thursday morning before I head out to retrieve my car and dive back into my work routine.

Winding down...

..and winding up....

March 25, 2026

Applications and preparation.......

I'm eagerly anticipating the return of my car, as it should be ready within the next 24 hours. This means I'll be able to dive back into driving for Uber, which I genuinely look forward to. Today, I dedicated a significant chunk of my time to submitting a number of job applications and carefully sifting through the responses I've received thus far. Unfortunately, most of the job offers I've encountered hover around the meager rate of $12.50 an hour; a financial situation that's difficult to sustain.

I recently completed an interview with FedEx, but I understand that it could take up to three weeks before I receive any feedback, thanks to the thorough background check process. In the meantime, I've been keeping an eye on new developments at Uber, and it appears that some positive changes are in the pipeline that could really benefit all drivers.

Looking ahead to the weekend, there's an exciting new quest available that offers the potential to earn nearly $200 for completing seventy rides. However, I must admit that aiming for that goal feels a bit overwhelming. A more realistic target for me is completing around fifty rides, which would still net a respectable $150. That extra cash would certainly help me out right now. I'm filled with anticipation and excitement to get back behind the wheel and resume my work on the road.

Taking advantage of the time......

The most significant accomplishment of the day was that it marked my third day dedicated to transforming my backyard into a functional and inviting space. Today, I tackled the task of cutting the frame for the climbing wall, a project that has excited me for quite some time. The rhythmic sound of the saw filled the air as I carefully measured and shaped each piece of wood.

In addition to that, I dismantled the decaying floor of the old shed, which had seen better days. As I pried up the rotting boards, I could smell the musty scent of damp wood. Although I haven't yet begun working with the wood panels I've salvaged, everything is neatly cut down and stacked, ready to be burned. The sight of the organized wood pile brought a sense of accomplishment after the effort it took to complete.

I also devoted a considerable amount of time to edging and weed-whacking throughout the yard, both in the front and back. The once unruly grass and weeds now lie neatly trimmed, giving the property a freshly manicured look. Furthermore, I dove into cleaning the pool, which, although not completely finished, is a marked improvement from its previous state. The water sparkled in the sunlight, a hint of blue peeking through the debris I had cleared away.

Creativity found its way into my day as well, as I worked on my model of the Corsair F4U-4, where the intricate details of the aircraft slowly came to life. I also turned my attention to my novel, managing to complete two more chapters, allowing the story to unfold and taking shape in my mind.

In a productive frenzy, I cleared out approximately 2,000 items from my library archives, meticulously verifying the information as I went. The sense of order that replaced the chaos was satisfying. I spent some time in the garage, sorting through old tools and equipment, and I thoroughly checked all of my camping gear. I was pleased to find everything I need for my next adventure, except for tent stakes. The new tent came with some, but they were flimsy and poorly designed, failing to hold firm in the ground. Replacing those is high on my priority list before my camping trip, and I've noted that adding a hammer to my gear would simplify the process of securing those stakes. While I could manage without it, I'd rather avoid the hassle.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, I made the tough decision to sleep indoors instead of in the tent. My body ached from the physical labor of the past three days, a testament to the hard work I had put in. It felt like the right choice to retreat to the comfort of my bed, allowing myself to recover and rejuvenate for another day of projects ahead.

Bring on gay people!...

..I could use a fairy tale....

A little bit of prep never hurt........

Today proved quite a test of my patience as I navigated the uncertainty surrounding my car's repair status. The morning began with a glimmer of hope; I was led to believe that my vehicle would be ready for pick-up by the end of the business day. As the hours ticked by, however, that hope began to wane. I spent the day anxiously waiting for an update, watching the clock and reminding myself to stay calm.

Despite my efforts to reach Ben, the representative handling my case, my calls went unanswered. He had assured me he would call back with news, but as the sun set and the last of the employees trickled out, it became clear that my car wouldn't be ready, and my attempts to communicate with Ben fell into a void of silence.

Adding to my stress is an exciting quest I've signed up for this weekend, which is set to kick off at an early 4:00 AM tomorrow. If my car isn't back in my possession by then, it will be nearly impossible for me to participate without pushing my limits beyond what feels reasonable. For now, all I can do is hold onto hope and trust that, somehow, everything will align in my favor.

Sleepwalking......

The best way to capture the essence of my day is to say that I felt like I was meandering through it in a state of half-consciousness, much like a sleepwalker. I intentionally selected a title for my reflections today that stirred a bit of controversy but was undeniably campy, which added an amusing touch to my mood. Throughout the day, I engaged with several friends from my LGBTQ+ community, and it soon became apparent that there had been a surge of information circulating among them; they were buzzing with updates and insights, and my contributions felt minimal yet necessary.

However, the majority of my day was spent in a sort of haze, anxiously anticipating news about the repairs on my Kia. As time ticked by, a sense of frustration began to brew within me, directed toward both the dealership and the overall situation. It wasn't that they were neglecting their work; rather, it was their abysmal communication that was wearing me down. I found myself dialing Ben's number not once, but twice, desperate for some clarity on the progress. During our second conversation, he reassured me that I would receive an update by day's end, but deep down, I sensed that it wouldn't be forthcoming.

As the afternoon wore on, I left a message for Ben, which seemed to vanish into a black hole, as I never received a reply. Feeling exasperated, I tried reaching out again around 3:00 PM, at which point Ben suggested that I give him just half an hour for an update. Yet, as the clock struck the end of the business day, silence lingered once more. I understood the dealership was grappling with the transition to a new computer system, but I couldn't help but recall the old saying: "lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part." If they failed to adequately train their team on the new software, they should have approached the project with more caution and foresight. This entire ordeal left the impression of a company grappling with a level of unprofessionalism I hadn't anticipated.

On a brighter note, I had a productive conversation with GEICO regarding my claim. They confirmed their coverage, putting my mind at ease in the midst of this chaos. Since my car remains nestled at the dealership, they are sending an agent first thing tomorrow morning to issue a check for the covered amount, and I'll just need to cover the difference myself.

In the days leading up to this moment, I had also turned my backyard into a makeshift camping ground, eager to test my gear. Today marked the end of that venture as I dismantled the camp and carefully stowed everything away. The only remaining item on my list for a successful camping trip is a set of sturdy tent stakes. They're quite affordable, and acquiring them will complete my camping kit. With everything else primed and ready, I feel a sense of anticipation for my next adventure in the great outdoors.

On the edge...

..and not the edge of glory....

March 27, 2026

Ready to roll, but not........

I'm all set and eager to hit the road, but unfortunately, my car is still out of commission. It's been over 24 hours since the initial timeline we were given, and I'm starting to feel the frustration mount as I haven't been able to connect with my advisor yet. I did manage to speak with him earlier, and he mentioned that he would need to return my call in about half an hour, which he did not do. He's still acclimating to the new computer system, which adds to my sense of urgency. I won't delve into the issues with that system at the moment, but let's just say there are some significant hurdles there.

The latest update I have comes from the insurance adjuster, who has been in direct communication with the mechanic. Sadly, my car remains disassembled, as they are still waiting on a crucial part to arrive. This entire predicament is certainly taking a toll on my spirits, and I can't help but feel disheartened by the delay.

Humble? Me?......

There was a time when the world felt like a minefield, and I was easily triggered by the smallest infraction; a careless driver cut me off, an inconsiderate comment from a stranger, or a simple slight that seemed to loom larger than life. My emotions would ignite like a match in a fireworks factory; I would find myself consumed by road rage, reacting out of anger, and expressing frustration with a ferocity that bordered on theatrical. That chaotic energy transformed my surroundings into both a battlefield and a playground, where I could unleash my pent-up feelings at will. However, somewhere along the way, I believe I truly grew up. Through experience and reflection, I learned the value of patience, the importance of empathy, and how to gracefully accept the things that lie beyond my control. Yet even now, there are days when I long for those reckless moments; that exhilarating impulse to "rage against the machine," to bang my head against the metaphorical brick wall and scream at the mountains as if they held the answers I desperately sought. Though those times have faded into memory, I can't help but occasionally miss the raw intensity of those emotions.

That's about as dramatic as I'm going to get today. I allowed myself a little time to dive into debates on social media, unleashing my thoughts and observations on various topics that had been bothering me. To my own delight, I emerged victorious from each clash, even though they were mindless skirmishes that amounted to little more than a digital sparring match. Afterward, I turned my attention to the pool, where the water glistened under the afternoon sun. A few hours of diligence brought it back to its pristine state; crystal clear and inviting, at least for the moment. With a sense of accomplishment, I wandered through the backyard, ensuring everything was in order, and thankfully found that it was. I made a thorough circuit around the house, checking for any new wasp nests, and felt a wave of relief wash over me when I saw the coast was clear. And with a sense of responsibility, I conducted my weekly inspection of the generator, hearing it hum steadily, reassuringly.

In a creative burst, I finished assembling my model airplane, a detailed replica of the Corsair, which was now ready for its next chapter once I acquire some new paints; though that isn't a priority at the moment. With my enthusiasm still bubbling, I turned my sights to my next project: a classic 1962 Corvette model.

Finally, I decided to expand the pattern for my bell bottoms, a decision that ignited an artistic spark within me. I carefully laid out the fabric, the vibrant textiles catching the light, and pinned down the patterns with precision. Yet, despite my efforts, a sense of dissatisfaction nagged at me. With the house quiet and empty, I sat cross-legged on the living room floor, surrounded by swaths of fabric, cutting out the patterns with growing determination. As I prepared to assemble them, frustration began to accumulate just beneath the surface; an almost tangible heaviness in the air. I'm doing my best to maintain my balance and find my center, but the mounting pressure is becoming increasingly overwhelming. Something's got to give; I just hope that moment arrives soon.

Fade away...

..and radiate....

March 28, 2026

The makings of a plan........

After a long week away from work, largely due to the unfortunate breakdown of my car, I can't shake the feeling that this time off hasn't resembled a vacation at all. Today, I dedicated myself to meticulously planning my return, which felt more like preparing for battle than regrouping for rest. The reality is that I have to reconcile the financial loss I've incurred from each missed day at the office, while also shouldering the unexpected expense of the necessary repairs. As I confronted this daunting task, a sense of unease crept over me, overshadowing any optimism. Despite this heavy burden, a flicker of excitement remains as I anticipate getting back to work, eager to regain my footing and restore a sense of normalcy in my life.

I did not get mad......

I rise with the sun, long before most of the world stirs to life. By the time I slid into Laura's car a little after 7:00 AM, I had already embraced five productive hours of my morning. The air was still crisp, and the streets were quieter than usual, setting an oddly serene backdrop for what lay ahead; a visit to the Kia dealership that would prove to be surprisingly impactful.

Upon arrival, I discovered my usual representative was off that day. Instead, I was greeted by a young lady who, despite her best intentions, stumbled through my queries about my vehicle. Within just three short minutes, she presented me with three inaccuracies that I felt compelled to address. Frustration bubbled beneath the surface as I realized I had come seeking clarity but was met only with confusion. Leaving the dealership, although not overtly angry, I was left with an unsettling sense of dissatisfaction. Little did I anticipate that this would only be the beginning of my turbulent encounter.

Shortly after, my regular representative, known for his attentive service, was summoned in on his day off to assess the situation involving my dissatisfaction. Unbeknownst to him, I had not raised my voice or displayed any signs of rage; perhaps my calm demeanor can easily be mistaken for anger.

At this point, the dealership was awaiting a special part for the clutch, preventing the final repairs from being completed. Armed with a newfound determination, I delved into thorough research, discovering that a brand-new technician could handle the task in roughly six hours. Given that I was promised one of the dealership's finest technicians, I optimistically speculated that my wait time could be slashed in half. To add a sliver of hope to the mix, my representative informed me that the previously estimated cost of $3,900 had decreased. Only time would tell how that promise would unfold.

Despite the morning's setbacks, I refused to let the rest of the day slip away. Instead, I poured every ounce of passion into my creative pursuits and triumphantly completed my novel, *Awakening*. The feeling of finality washed over me as I realized it was merely one thorough read-through away from publication; a milestone that felt monumental in my journey.

Later, I meticulously reviewed my day planner, clearing out obligations for the entire week ahead. Tomorrow would be a day of leisure; a much-needed opportunity to recharge before diving back into my demanding 12-hour workdays. Although I toyed with the idea of completing a painting, uncertainty flickered in my mind about whether I would find the time. I still had a few aspirations I wished to fulfill before returning to the grind, eager to hold onto my creative spirit as life resumed its brisk pace.

To rest, to dream...

..try not to scream!....

March 29, 2026

Something is missing......

Today unfolded differently than usual; for the first time, I found myself without a dedicated work section in my plans. My car is still out of commission, and it being Sunday, I resolved to give myself a break from the pressures of work-related tasks. Instead of succumbing to stress, I decided to embrace the day and focus solely on the things I genuinely wanted to do around the house. It was a conscious choice, and I'm choosing to accept it fully.

With work off the table; at least for now, due to the car situation; I turned my attention to some of the tasks I'd been neglecting. I dived into cleaning the pool, scrubbing away the leaves and debris until the water sparkled under the bright sunlight. I also tackled the mess in the garage, organizing tools and boxes that had long needed attention, transforming the space into a much more functional and pleasant environment. Additionally, I spent some creative hours working on my bell bottoms, sewing and adjusting until they fit just right. I even took the time to set up the blog for next month, which relieved me of the stress of scrambling to meet the April 1 deadline.

While I did face some challenges throughout the day; an experience I hadn't encountered in a while; I felt a sense of accomplishment at the end. I wrapped up my day by finishing the draft of my novel, although I know that the next step, proofreading, awaits me. The thought of combing through the pages fills me with a mix of anticipation and dread; the weight of knowing I'll need to stop and correct my mistakes looms over me. Who could have imagined that being an author would come to feel like such a labor-intensive task?

As I look ahead to tomorrow, I'm hopeful for a bit of order to return to my life. Ben is expected to arrive at the dealership around 7:00 AM, and I'm eager to receive news from him about the parts and how the mechanic is progressing with the repairs. For now, though, I can only keep afloat in the sea of uncertainty.

Getting old...

..in more ways that one....

March 30, 2026

Registered and waiting........

The current work environment has left many people feeling exasperated, and it's easy to see why. Today, I took the step of registering with several temp agencies, and I stumbled upon something rather amusing amid the frustration. As is usual in this process, a background check was required. However, what struck me as particularly odd was that out of the six agencies I reached out to, five strictly enforce a rule that requires new hires to work solely in Tier 1 jobs for the first 60 days of employment. The agencies wouldn't elaborate on what exactly constitutes a Tier 1 job, leaving me to ponder the implications. From what I gathered, these positions seem to focus heavily on manual labor and come with the disappointment of minimum wage pay. It appears to be a calculated strategy to fill less desirable roles, which only adds to my frustration.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for my car to be finished; at least it's currently in a repair bay, but the timeline for its completion remains a mystery. The uncertainty surrounding both my employment prospects and my car has made for a rather challenging day.

Still in limbo......

At first, the extra day off was a refreshing change, a delightful pause that invigorated my spirit. However, that initial enthusiasm has faded, and now I find myself facing the weary reality of working nine consecutive days. This relentless stretch is beginning to wear on my nerves, like a constant, nagging hum that I can't shake off.

I've tried to fill my time with various activities, hoping to stave off the creeping discontent, but the overall situation is starting to take a toll on my well-being. The things that usually bring me joy, meditating, exercising, even my beloved yoga, now feel like distant acquaintances that I can hardly muster the energy to engage with.

I continued working on my bell-bottom pants, a sewing project I was eager to dive into, but a careless mistake forced me to painstakingly undo some of the stitching. It's frustrating, and the effort feels increasingly futile as my ability to concentrate slips away.

On top of all this, I reached out to the dealership regarding my car. They claim we're in the final stages of getting it back, but I can't help but feel skeptical about their assurances. I'll believe it when I see it, when I'm finally back on the road and free from this limbo.

Right now, though, the list of things I could be doing looms over me, yet none of them spark any excitement or motivation. It's as if I'm trudging through a gray fog, trying my best to push through each day.

It's not easy...

..it's not anything....

March 31, 2026

Almost lost it......

I lost my temper today. Although the title suggests that I almost lost it, that's not entirely accurate. I managed to keep my emotions in check until I was off the phone. Fortunately, with nobody else in the house, my heavy bag workout, some Tai Chi, and yoga helped me regain my composure.

The issue is that the parts for my car were supposedly received yesterday morning. When I called to speak with the agent handling my account, I was informed that he was off today. The person who answered the phone checked on my car and said it was pulled in about an hour ago, meaning it was brought in 23 hours after the parts arrived. So far, they have had my car for 10 days, and they're just now getting it into the bay.

The agent, who is off today, called me from his cell phone to give me an update. I don't think he realized I was already informed about the situation. Apparently, they ordered parts without even tearing down the clutch, so they have no idea what will happen once they do. I was told that the car would be ready either very late tonight or early tomorrow morning, but I'm not really believing that.

At this point, there's nothing I can do except raise my concerns, which I have done on social media, and wait. In the meantime, I've continued proofreading my novel and managed to sew my bell-bottom pants together; they look great! I'm pleased with how they are turning out, and I'm now looking for a good source of denim to make a quality pair of 1960s retro bell bottoms.
