This month has been quite exciting for me. I've received some excellent new filters and models for my 3D software and Photoshop. The image in the middle showcases my new ancient god model. The first image is a potential concept for my novel, featuring Lilith and Ospiria. The second image is solely of Lilith. The fourth image presents my new fairy model, while the last image depicts the Eve wireframe in despair over the current situation.
Greetings: I have no idea what happened to the month of January. It arrived and then disappeared like a flickering candle's flame snuffed out by a strong breeze. This shouldn't be surprising, considering that 2025 passed in much the same way. I didn't make much progress on my novel or any other projects, and I hope to change that in February. As mentioned above, I received several updates for both the 3D software and Photoshop. I need to take the time to explore the new models, wireframes, and filters, but I'm uncertain when I will find the time to do that.

I pulled it off......
I was right to embrace optimism, though I remain astonished by the outcome. After pushing through the final days of my work cycle, I not only met my local goal but soared past my high goal by a remarkable margin. This unexpected achievement has been a weighty thought on my mind, filling me with a mix of pride and disbelief. Given the treacherous condition of the roads, I initially doubted whether I could even reach my low goal. Yet, I gathered my resolve and managed to get it done. Despite moments of introspection and doubt, my optimism has proven to be my guiding light.
As for the roads, they are still a hazardous landscape; I found myself swerving on the icy surface several times, yet nothing was beyond my control. The main streets are clear and navigable, but the side streets remain a chaotic mess; rutted and unplowed, they will likely stay that way for a considerable time. Fortunately, a rise in temperature is anticipated, offering hope for improved conditions in the coming days. I'm eagerly looking forward to my next two days off, curious to see what adventures and challenges await me next.
And now it is time to rest...
The day began with a focus on productivity, emphasizing the importance of utilizing every moment effectively. An organized morning routine was established, which included a series of energizing stretches, a wholesome breakfast, and a brief review of personal goals. This preparation helped prioritize essential tasks, despite the presence of distractions that could easily derail focus. The main objective was to engage deeply with work to ensure substantial progress throughout the day.
As the individual ventured into a busy environment, there was a lingering awareness of long-term aspirations that felt just out of reach. However, a strong determination facilitated achievements that surpassed initial expectations, leading to a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that persisted into the evening.
Upon returning home, time was set aside for personal reflection. The day's noise faded as the individual engaged with a guitar, playing familiar chords that provided solace during tougher times. Following this, the saxophone was also brought into play, filling the space with rich tones that created a comforting auditory backdrop to unwind from the day's stresses.
Looking forward, there was an awareness of a scheduled appointment with the HVAC company, though the details were somewhat unclear. Despite this uncertainty, the decision was made to relax, even in the presence of a lingering headache and surrounding negativity.
Anticipating the next couple of days, the need to find balance in mental well-being was recognized. A lengthy to-do list presented itself, but the approach was to handle tasks with patience, addressing them sequentially and celebrating small achievements. This strategy aimed to transform the perceived burdens of responsibility into effective steps towards a more positive mindset.
NOTE: No, you haven't gone crazy. This was a little experiment in writing in the third person. I wanted to see how it compared to my other writing, and I've decided it's not a good idea. However, I will leave this entry as it is; a cautionary tale for the future, should I ever consider writing this way again. While it could work for an informative post, it comes across as impersonal and mechanical. I was reviewing some notes from my previous writing course, which suggested that changing styles can be beneficial. While that might be true for novels or short stories, I don't believe it's appropriate for a blog. Lesson learned.
To rest ...
..and revitalize....

Love those easy days......
Today, the only task I had for work was to handle the bookkeeping. While it wasn't a significant amount of work, it was still a bit annoying. I needed to gather some information from last year for tax purposes and adjust part of the spreadsheet to ensure it functioned correctly. In the end, it took about an hour, which isn't too bad for a day off.
The day off and beyond...
My first day off typically unfolds in a serene manner, but today was a delightful departure from the norm. The primary focus for the day was to immerse myself in updating my journals, blogs, and my ongoing legend journal. The task consumed far more time than I had anticipated, but I welcomed the challenge, knowing that the intricate details needed careful attention. While the legend journal remains a work in progress, I can see the improvements taking shape, which adds to my sense of accomplishment.
I laid out all my oil paints across the table, their vibrant colors waiting to be transformed into art. I felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension, knowing that I might lose some brushes to wear or need to replace certain colors as I embarked on my next painting endeavor. Such hurdles are just part of the creative process, and I embraced them wholeheartedly.
Later, I took the ladies for a leisurely drive around the neighborhoods, keen to observe how the winter thaw was unfolding. Patches of ice still lingered stubbornly in shaded areas, creating a danger for unassuming drivers, while the sun glinted off the remaining frost, making the landscape appear both beautiful and treacherous.
For lunch, or perhaps an early dinner, Willow treated us to Chipotle, filling the car with the enticing aroma of seasoned meats and fresh ingredients. After that, it was time to unwind and relish the moment.
All in all, I'll classify today as a success, despite the ever-growing list of tasks still ahead of me. I also had a meeting scheduled with the HVAC company to discuss the potential installation of a whole-home generator, though, unfortunately, that's currently beyond my budget. Perhaps in the future, that dream will become a reality.

Shhhhh......
These special days are quite rare, though I hesitate to say they are completely unique; they actually occur every two weeks. Today marks my second day off in a row, a rare luxury in my line of work. My only responsibilities during this time include diligently tracking the heat map and periodically checking incoming messages. The demand for drivers remains extraordinarily high, even as the weather settles into a more consistent pattern.
Reports suggest that a significant number of drivers have left the job recently, a trend that could be attributed to various factors such as burnout or better opportunities elsewhere. However, I remain hopeful that this may be a temporary situation, one that might resolve itself as conditions improve.
For now, I'm savoring my day off, relishing the freedom to relax and recharge. I find myself curious about what tomorrow may bring; whether the surge in demand will continue, how the situation with the drivers will evolve, and what new challenges might arise. It's a time of uncertainty, but also one of unexpected possibilities.
Knocking things out....
My master To-Do List has reached an overwhelming length, and it's been weighing heavily on my mind. Even though I know I could easily just tear it up and abandon all these tasks, I'm a creature of habit, so that's not an option for me. Today, I finally took the plunge and grabbed my beloved legend journal, meticulously completing the entries for 2025. Even though we're already a month into 2026, I had been dragging my feet on transferring my goals and plans, but I'm relieved to say that task is now behind me. Next, I still need to set my short-term and long-term goals in the 2026 journal, but this completion feels like a significant step in the right direction.
After wrapping that up, my wife and I enjoyed a refreshing drive around our neighborhood. We stopped by the Goodwill bin store, which is always an exciting treasure hunt, unearthing unique finds hidden among the stacks. Afterward, we treated ourselves to some indulgent Starbucks drinks, the cozy warmth of our beverages a delightful end to our outing, before we made our way home.
Once we returned, I plopped down at my cluttered desk with a steaming cup of coffee, only to realize there wasn't a clear spot to put it! The disarray had been a nagging reminder of my need to clean up my workspace, so I finally tackled it. It took me two and a half focused hours, but the transformation was worth it. Now, my desk is organized, each item in its rightful place, providing me with ample space to work and think.
I also put the final touches on my oil painting project, and I'm feeling excited and ready for my next creative endeavor. Although I'll have to wait two weeks until my next day off to dive into it, inspiration is already bubbling within me for what I want to create next.
Finally, I settled down to clear out a few more things around the house while tuning into "American Horror Story" in the background. I've been searching for a show to immerse myself in, and this seems like a perfect fit; it's engaging enough to hold my attention without consuming me wholly. Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new work cycle, and I'm hoping for a return to a sense of normalcy.

Please be real......
Today was a difficult day overall. I believe the rudeness of the customers was a result of cabin fever. Everyone I encountered was nasty and rude, without exception. I even witnessed a mother and her two daughters arguing loudly for the entire journey to an indoor adventure park, hurling insults at each other and calling one another "sluts" and "whores." It really makes me wonder what's wrong with the world.
On a positive note, a new quest has been announced for this coming weekend. I did a double take when I saw it: 50 rides for $1,250! I'm keeping an eye on it to see if anything changes, but I'm already signed up. If I could add an additional 20 rides, that would cost another $250. That would really make my week, especially considering that it's one of my off weeks where I only work five days.
Feeling okay....
Despite a workday filled with uncertainty and ambiguity, I found a sense of accomplishment before stepping out of the house in the morning. I diligently completed my daily routine, savoring the familiar rituals that set the tone for my day. Later, upon returning home, I immersed myself in creativity, successfully writing half a chapter of my novel, which flowed from my thoughts to the page with unexpected ease.
In addition to this, I've been diligently working on updates for my series, piecing together the missing episodes that have been swirling in my mind. Meanwhile, Laura ventured out to Aldi, where she filled her cart with a generous supply of protein for the freezer, ensuring we would have plenty of nutritious meals ahead. Despite the hurdles I faced at work, the personal side of my day unfolded beautifully, leaving me with a sense of fulfillment and optimism.
Not a good day...
..on any front....

I saw this coming......
Thursday has arrived, and with it came my expectation of an unusual day ahead. I found myself embarking on a long journey for a brief assignment, a repetitive task that weighed heavily on my mind. The remnants of the winter storm are mostly gone, with only a few stubborn patches of snow and ice clinging to certain spots around the city. Regrettably, I had to make a stop in one of those treacherous areas.
As I pulled up, I watched in disbelief as my customer stepped out of her garage. In an instant, she lost her footing and began to slide uncontrollably down her icy driveway, a scene unfolding in slow motion. My heart raced as she helplessly glided down what felt like an endless slope, ultimately collapsing at the bottom, unconscious. Panic surged through me as I called for paramedics, my mind swirling with worry. Thankfully, it turned out she had merely bumped her head; an alarming scare, but no lasting harm done.
Beyond this dramatic episode, the day had been fraught with frustration as I fell short of my daily earnings goal by $40. It felt like a bitter pill to swallow. However, with tomorrow ushering in Friday, I held onto a flicker of hope. The weekend was on the horizon; a chance for new beginnings and the promise of people finally venturing out to stretch their legs after being cooped up during the relentless storm.
Just a little drama....
This morning, before heading into work, I managed to complete my entire morning routine with surprising efficiency, which included a refreshing workout and a nutritious breakfast. To my delight, I also made significant progress on my novel; I finished writing another chapter, bringing me closer to my goal with just under 70 pages left to edit. At the pace I'm currently maintaining, I'm optimistic that I could be ready to publish within the next two weeks. While I'm uncertain if I can sustain this level of productivity, I'm determined to give it my all. It felt as though the stars aligned for me today; timing, after all, often plays a crucial role in the ebb and flow of life.
During my usual break for fuel, I found myself in Bartlett when Laura called, her voice tinged with urgency. She explained that she was out to lunch with our mom at Pops Comfort Restaurant, where things had taken a troubling turn; mom had become disoriented and incoherent. The restaurant staff, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, had already called for an ambulance, but Laura felt that she needed someone to back her up. Given that I was close by, I quickly rushed over to assist them. It's fascinating how life often orchestrates these moments; if I hadn't been in the area, who knows how everything would have unfolded? Thankfully, after some initial chaos, Mom was stabilized and we were able to sort out the situation, but it certainly took longer than any of us anticipated. Once I returned home, I was ready to unwind a bit, knowing that I had an especially hectic work weekend ahead; our big project kicks off tomorrow.
Later that night, as I drifted off to sleep, I experienced one of the most bizarre dreams I've had in a long time. Typically, my dreams are filled with antics involving celebrities or heart-pounding chases. However, this time, I found myself in a stark, fluorescent-lit police station. The atmosphere felt tense as officials were frantically trying to convince a judge to reconsider my verdict regarding a seemingly trivial $10 parking ticket. In a twist, the sign near where I parked had been misposted; it should have read $11, not $10. Unfortunately, the judge was out for the day, leaving me facing the daunting possibility of spending the weekend in jail until the ruling could be amended. Talk about an absurd situation! Throughout the ordeal, I was on the phone, frantically reaching out to news stations that seemed all too eager to cover the peculiar story. Where that dream came from, I'll never know, but it was certainly an unexpected adventure that left me pondering its significance upon waking!

Ghosts and Russians......
At first glance, this heading might strike one as unusual, but my experiences have grounded it firmly in reality. I embarked on my new quest filled with enthusiasm, ready to embrace the day ahead. However, I soon encountered a troubling reality. One of my earliest rides took me on a long journey to Tunica, Mississippi, a town famous for its bustling casino strip. Ironically, this was my third time transporting this particular passenger to that same destination. However, this time, the fare was only half of what I had earned during previous trips.
As we chatted during the ride, I learned that she possessed a coupon that significantly reduced her fare. Intrigued by this, I continued my day and spoke with other riders, only to discover that many of them too were armed with similar coupons. It seemed a strategy was quietly rolling out, an initiative by Uber to offset losses incurred during the recent snowstorm. While Uber took on some of these discounts, it appeared that drivers like myself were feeling the brunt of the financial impact. This could explain my grueling 12-hour workdays that felt devoid of any meaningful earnings.
Moreover, this situation illuminated why Uber was offering enticing incentives to keep drivers on the road. The trip to the casino strip turned out to be more than just a mundane ride. I was struck by the stark reality in Tunica, where once-thriving establishments like Sam's Town, a well-known tourist hotspot, now stood abandoned. The surrounding area was a haunting tableau of vacant strip malls, desolate gas stations, and dilapidated pawn shops, creating an eerie resemblance to a ghost town.
Yet, the day was far from ordinary, as more unexpected drama unfolded. I picked up a woman who was, quite literally, a Russian bride. She had fallen prey to a truck driver who had falsely claimed to own a trucking company; in reality, he merely owned a single truck. The marriage had crumbled, and now she was desperately trying to reach the airport, but there was a significant barrier; she didn't speak a word of English. Utilizing Google Translate, I was able to piece together her poignant story and made the compassionate decision to accompany her into the airport to secure assistance. Thanks to the wonderful support from American Airlines, TSA, and an attentive airport executive, we managed to arrange for a translator, ensuring that she made it onto her flight. It was certainly a day filled with unexpected twists and unforgettable encounters.
Too much? Perhaps....
I am pushing through this tough stretch, but the weight of exhaustion is starting to bear down on me. With still nine long days ahead until my next day off, every moment feels like an uphill battle. The day's drama has sapped my energy, even though I had no control over any of it. Nonetheless, I'm determined to continue this exciting journey I'm on with Uber, even if it feels like I'm wading through mud.
Balancing the situation with the Russian bride and the unexpected trip to Tunica cost me nearly two precious hours of my time. Now, with just two days left in the work week, I'm already down $75, which is beginning to gnaw at my nerves like a persistent thorn.
To cope, I've decided to steer clear of the news; it feels like an overwhelming tide of chaos. Each day seems to unveil new stories designed to either shatter our spirits or provoke some reaction, and unfortunately, they often manage to do both, depending on how you see it. I keep telling myself that we're becoming increasingly polarized, but the truth is, the divide is already here, and these incidents only peel back the layers, revealing the fractures more clearly.
In the midst of all this, I'm diligently working on my novel, and there's a glimmer of hope that I might finish it by the end of the month. The thought of preparing it for publication looms ahead with its own set of challenges, but I'm choosing not to dwell on that right now.
Before heading to work, I carved out some time for yoga and hit the heavy bag, allowing me to channel my stress into something productive. When I returned home to the comforting solitude of an empty house, I picked up my saxophone and played for a while, letting the music wash over me and serve as a much-needed balm for my weary soul. But even with these moments of solace, fatigue hangs over me like a heavy blanket, leaving me feeling utterly drained.
Not feeling it...
..nope, not at all....

Running in mud......
During the most lucrative quest since I joined Uber, I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. It was a day filled with long distances for short rides, and by the end of the day, it was becoming quite frustrating. I've gotten within 16 rides of my goal for the big quest, but everything dried up towards the end. I'm hoping that tomorrow morning, I can finally push things over the top.
Tired, yep, Tired.....
I didn't sleep well, and as a result, I faced a lethargic day. I struggled to get anything done before heading into work, and the same happened when I got home. I can definitely feel the days dragging on, and I still have eight more days until I get a break.
February 08, 2026
When you can't hit it, split it......
I started my day early, eager to tackle a significant challenge. I managed to complete the first six out of the sixteen rides I needed for a big quest. However, things took a turn when my opportunities dried up. I had to make the long drive to Parkin, Arkansas, and when I returned, I found myself sitting for nearly three hours without a single ride. Feeling frustrated and defeated, I decided to head home for six hours of rest before trying again.
My strategy paid off. Even though I didn't get enough rest, I logged back in and completed ten more rides in six hours. I even did one more ride to ensure I had enough for my goal. Once I saw the funds hit my account, I felt a sense of accomplishment and called it a night.
Unfortunately, unless I take tomorrow off, which I don't plan to do, I'll have to switch back to the night shift for the week. I'm not sure whether that will be a good or bad change. Nonetheless, the big quest is complete, and I can officially call it a week.
Still tired, but feeling accomplished.....
I was eagerly anticipating a day filled with productivity, envisioning the bliss of having the house to myself for several peaceful hours. Unfortunately, my plans took an unexpected turn, forcing me to double. I attempted to seize my six-hour break for a rejuvenating nap, longing for the refreshing embrace of sleep, but it proved elusive. Each time I gently drifted off, the quietude would shatter, pulling me back into awareness far too quickly. The day turned frustratingly restless.
Despite the challenges, I managed to achieve my primary goal for the week. Although I couldn't dedicate any time to my personal projects, I still considered it a productive day in its own right. As I sat for those three hours, I immersed myself in planning for my upcoming camping trip and mapping out the necessary repairs for my car. With spring fast approaching, I know I have a lot on my plate. Still, I'm curious to see how everything unfolds in the days ahead.
No storm...
..just the calm....
February 09, 2026
Very little drama......
After a whirlwind of hectic days, it was a breath of fresh air to finally experience some tranquility. The only hint of drama today came from a lively 22-year-old college student and her friend, who were en route to a festive birthday celebration. The college student, bubbling with enthusiasm and ambition as an influencer, was handing out her business cards, but these were anything but ordinary. Uniquely, a pair of real and vibrant panties, each pair featured her contact information for social media in bold, eye-catching print, apparently done in Sharpie.
As she playfully tossed one of these unconventional items into the front seat, I glanced at it and instantly recognized what it was; a creative and daring marketing tactic that took me by surprise. I gently tossed it back to her, chuckling at the ingenuity; while it's not quite my style, I couldn't help but appreciate her bold approach. I sincerely wish her all the best with it.
The remainder of the day unfolded at a slower pace, marked by a series of fairly routine rides. Despite the lack of excitement, I'm counting this day as a good one overall. With just six more days until my much-anticipated time off, I find myself eagerly looking forward to that well-deserved break.
Too tired to excel.....
I navigated through my morning with a sense of weary determination. I've adjusted my work schedule to afternoons and evenings, shifting away from the conventional morning routine, but I remain uncertain whether this transition will truly be beneficial. When I finally returned home as the sun dipped below the horizon, I sank into my favorite chair, letting the gentle embrace of relaxation wash over me. The world outside darkened, and I simply didn't have the energy or inspiration to pursue anything creative. I had intended to delve into my novel today, weaving words into a tapestry of imagination, but the creative spark just didn't ignite. Yet, I remind myself; tomorrow is another day, full of potential and possibility.
Really week?...
..Really WEAK!....
February 10, 2026
Cannonball run......
What does the Cannonball Run have to do with my work today? It reminds me of that classic song with a verse about having a long way to go and a short time to get there. That theme resonated with me throughout the day. From the moment I logged in, it felt like I was on a long journey for a brief and frustrating ride. The people I met were pleasant enough, but I found myself stuck in the Germantown and Collierville area, like a car trapped in a loop. Every time I thought I could break free, the next ride request would drag me right back to those same neighborhoods.
Eventually, frustration built up to a tipping point, prompting me to switch gears and turn on Uber Eats, vowing to avoid that headache again. I won't delve into the details of the single delivery I completed, but it was definitely not worth the meager payment I received. On the bright side, the delivery was from Asian Star, which allowed me to treat myself to some delightful Chinese food for dinner; a small reward before I headed home.
As it stands, I find myself $50 behind for the week. The new weekend quest has just launched, but it doesn't appear to be a hefty challenge, so I'm not feeling too stressed about it. Exhaustion weighs heavily on me, and with five long days still ahead, I'm ready for a good night's rest.
How about climbing into a hole?.....
Before heading into work, I carved out some quiet time in the morning to meticulously go through my routine and tackle my daily to-do list. There's a refreshing sense of accomplishment that washes over me when I check everything off. I feel like I'm finally finding my rhythm, but I know I need to start my days earlier. The challenge of adapting to driving at night again has been daunting, and I find that the afternoons often drift by in a blanket of silence, underscoring the necessity for an earlier start.
Throughout the day, much of the conversations revolved around the current administration and their increasingly transparent attempts to manipulate the upcoming 2026 election. It's disheartening to witness their desperation for power; they seem to be revealing their intentions more brazenly than ever. It's frustrating to watch how easily some people buy into these tactics, almost like children eagerly devouring a bag of candy, oblivious to the consequences.
When I eventually returned home, I treated myself to a delicious spread of Chinese food, savoring each bite as I delved into my novel, the words flowing like a river of creativity. To wind down, I turned on an episode of *American Horror Story*. This marks my third attempt to navigate through that series, and until now, I've struggled to get past the third episode due to its predictability and lack of intrigue. However, the fourth episode surprised me; it shifted my perspective and revealed a storyline rich with potential. For the first time, I felt that I might actually have what it takes to finish the series.
Now, I'm just pushing through the next five days, counting down the hours until my much-anticipated time off. I'm hoping that the rest of the week will unfold with some level of tolerability, allowing me the mental space I crave before my break.
February 11, 2026
Well, isn't that wizard?......
It's the middle of the week, and things have calmed down for the moment. There hasn't been any significant drama, but the most interesting rider was a flirtatious young lady who was fully aware of her charm. Ironically, she was in her eighties and seemed to relish in trying to embarrass the driver; who happened to be me. Fortunately, I wasn't embarrassed by her antics. She even remarked that I was a good sport. While I'm still a bit behind for the week, I believe I can manage it for now and maybe catch up before the weekend arrives.
Leveled off and flying true.....
At present, I find myself navigating a tranquil phase in my life. Mornings have become a struggle, as I often feel too drained to engage in anything beyond the essentials of my routine. By the time I return home in the evening, an overwhelming fatigue washes over me. Each day, I've been diligently working with my heavy bag, feeling the satisfying burn of effort, and I've laid the groundwork for most of my home exercise regimen. There's just one piece missing; the jump rope, which I plan to weave into my routine, though it will require a bit more time and dedication to fully integrate.
In addition to my physical training, I've enhanced my meditation and yoga practices, now dedicating a full hour to nurturing both my body and mind. This time spent in meditation allows me to center myself, while yoga helps to stretch and invigorate my weary muscles. Yet, I can't shake the feeling that I need to dive back into my model-building and the novel I've been writing. However, those creative pursuits will have to wait patiently for a little while longer, ideally until I carve out some much-needed time off early next week.
February 12, 2026
Another day......
The most exciting part of my day is that I managed to reach my goal. Although it's only the lower goal, I thought it would be out of reach this week given how things have been going. Right now, my biggest concern is that things are too calm. I haven't had any rambunctious riders lately, and aside from a little old lady yesterday, almost nobody has said much at all. Most of the people I've been driving around have been wearing headphones and blasting their own music. While I'm okay with that, I've noticed that my tips have decreased due to the lack of interaction. Considering the recent changes to Uber's payment structure, which includes a reduction, those tips may become crucial in the near future. Today marks the second day of drama-free work, so I'm anticipating that things will become chaotic again tomorrow.
Not great, but handled.....
Although my workday was uneventful, my body seemed to want to make up for it. I felt a bit nauseous throughout the day, which was quite uncomfortable. This discomfort led to some dehydration, which affected both my blood sugar and blood pressure. Fortunately, I recognized the symptoms, and I was able to leave work early to rehydrate. While it wasn't an ideal day, I managed to catch up on my goals and spent the evening relaxing and taking care of myself. By the end of the day, I was feeling much better, and everything returned to normal.
Friday...
..HI... DAY!!!....
February 13, 2026
Out with a fizzle......
I managed to stay focused and achieve my goals for the week, but it was another day filled mostly with ordinary riders. However, I did have an exciting encounter with two visitors from England. After picking them up from the bustling bus station, we embarked on a lively conversation during the ride to their hotel. They were curious about various attractions in the city and inquired about my thoughts on local sights.
Our discussion took an interesting turn when they noticed the presence of armed military personnel patrolling around the bus station. I reassured them that these individuals were part of the National Guard, deployed intentionally to maintain safety and security. My explanation seemed to ease their concerns and curiosity.
As for their plans, they're gearing up for an adventure tomorrow at Graceland, the legendary home of Elvis Presley. I took the opportunity to encourage them to experience some local culture as well. I recommended they visit B.B. King's for a taste of soulful music and Rendezvous for some of the best barbecue in town.
The rest of the riders were pleasant company, and I spent a few hours wandering around West Memphis, AR. Now, with just two more workdays ahead of me, I'm eagerly looking forward to my well-deserved break on Monday and Tuesday next week.
Just working toward the break.....
I woke up bright and early, the soft glow of starlight sparkling through the hall window, coaxing me out of my slumber about an hour earlier than I had planned. Although the details of my dreams were hazy, I could still feel the unsettling aura they left behind, a lingering sense of unease that urged me to shake it off. After finally managing to extricate myself from the warmth of my blankets, I decided to seize the morning by diving headfirst into an invigorating workout followed by some peaceful meditation, grounding myself before the day began.
As I stood in the kitchen, I realized my morning diet could use a colorful boost; perhaps incorporating more fresh fruits and vibrant vegetables would invigorate my breakfast routine. I've been dreaming about whipping up some warm, flaky biscuits next week to pair with eggs, hoping to add a delightful touch to my mornings. The daily yogurt has begun to lose its charm, urging me to search for something new and exciting. And let's not forget the sausage; it's become almost a monotonous ritual; but I think it might finally be time for a flavorful change.
Once I had taken care of those morning routines, I found some free time to check my social media. It was a pleasant surprise to see a flurry of lively responses to my recent posts, a welcome reminder of the connections I've forged online. By the time I returned home that evening, a wave of relief washed over me, lifting my spirits after a couple of challenging days. I decided to take advantage of this newfound positivity by tackling my overflowing email inbox; usually a Saturday chore but one I felt motivated to conquer early. I also managed to fully refresh my blog, adding a few new thoughts and reflections.
After sorting everything out, it was finally time for dinner. Lara had outdone herself, preparing an array of delectable meals that filled the house with mouthwatering aromas. Speaking of food, I've got big plans for Monday; a culinary adventure awaits as I intend to craft at least three pizzas, smoke some flavorful ribs, and throw together a few other tempting dishes. My mind is buzzing with an extensive list of goals I want to achieve during my upcoming days off.
To wrap up the night, I settled in with an episode of *American Horror Story*, the chilling atmosphere a perfect backdrop for my evening. With excitement, I returned to my novel, inching ever closer to the finish line; I could almost taste the culmination of my efforts. During my break, I might dedicate some time to polish off the last 60 pages. As I write, I'm making thoughtful revisions to elevate the story; initially, it had a fluffy quality with minimal conflict; far from my usual style. I've embraced the more intense storyline, and it resonates with me much better. Now, all that's left is to meticulously dot the i's and cross the t's.

I am Dorie, Just keep swimming......
It was all work and no play today. I had to just push through the day. Thankfully, the riders were still doing their mundane thing, and there was little or no drama. I just rolled through the day, staying on task and on goal for both the day and the week.
It is almost time......
Before work, I collected my thoughts and started planning for my time off. I have a serious amount of cooking to do, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. I want to get a new painting done as well as take care of the yard, weather permitting, and the pool. I also have to get through my series that are sitting and check them to see if they are complete. I did get *Grimm* and I want to check that out as well. I have seen a few clips, and it looks like a cross between *Buffy the Vampire Slayer* and *Once upon a time*. It could be interesting. I settled in and reflected on having one more day of work until my time off. I did take the time to jump on Discord and wish the boy a happy birthday as well.

Surprise, an early day......
The day unfolded with a series of delightful surprises. It marked my fourth consecutive day free from any tensions among the riders, which felt like a rare gem amidst the usual chaos. Despite the persistent drizzle and the biting chill that wrapped around us like a thick blanket, the atmosphere was surprisingly cheerful. I was on the brink of achieving my weekly goal, and to my astonishment, I not only reached it but surpassed it when I took a moment to review my progress. This unexpected triumph was largely due to a generous $100 bonus for an initiative I had undertaken, one that had slipped my mind until that moment. It seemed that, every now and then, being a good person truly does yield rewarding surprises. Because of this windfall, I found myself free to leave work about three hours earlier than usual, eagerly stepping into the promise of my two days off.
Taking advantage......
Despite the peculiar nature of my dreams, I finally enjoyed a restful night's sleep, which set a positive tone for the day ahead. Before I ventured into work early, I meticulously reviewed all my to-do lists for the week, realizing I was remarkably caught up on nearly everything. A bit of housekeeping awaited me, but aside from that, I felt well-prepared to close out this week and embrace the next.
To my delight, I found myself wrapping up my workday earlier than expected. With a spring in my step, I decided to swing by Wal-Mart, eager to gather some supplies for my culinary experiments. Afterward, I made a quick stop at the dollar store, where I treated myself to $2.00 worth of nail care products. With a good pair of tweezers needed for my models and my cuticles demanding some TLC, it felt like a worthwhile splurge.
Back in my kitchen, I took the time to prepare biscuits and gravy for my new breakfast routine, and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. The biscuits turned a lovely shade of golden brown; exactly how I like them. Tomorrow promises an adventure in cooking as I plan to tackle ribs, a savory sausage loaf, and, of course, three homemade pizzas. The goal is to freeze them and test out my skills in crafting custom frozen pizzas. If my plan works, I can stock my freezer with personalized pizzas for myself and my family, a much-loved alternative to the store-bought variety.
As the day wound down, a final surprise awaited me. Just as I was settling in for the night, the distinctive ringtone of a Facebook call interrupted the tranquil atmosphere. It was time for another chat with my good friend (and better enemy), Emily. Our discussions often walk a fine line between spirited debate and enlightening discourse. As a staunch conservative with strong opinions, she and I have passionate discussions about everything from the Trump administration to the latest films.
What was meant to be a quick check-in transformed into an engrossing two-hour conversation about current events. It turned into an engaging exchange, a perfect way to blow off steam and exchange ideas, with both of us occasionally getting under each other's skin. She challenged me with several topics to research, and I reciprocated, sharing insights from my own readings. Emily also extended her usual invitation to visit Indiana for a game of pool; a standing offer she makes every time we connect, fully aware I'll never take her up on it.
All in all, I'm marking today as a success and looking forward to the next couple of days. Now, it's finally time to unwind and bask in the satisfaction of a day well spent.
Just go down...
..you clown!....

Lovin' the easy days......
Today's key focus was rest. The only work obligation I had was to finish the weekly spreadsheet. I reviewed all the information, and everything was in order, which made for a very easy day.
Heavy on the cooking......
I have quite a packed agenda for today and tomorrow. The highlight of today was definitely the cooking. I prepared succulent spare ribs, slow-cooked to perfection, accompanied by creamy, fresh mashed potatoes and lightly sautéed Brussels sprouts. In addition to that, I made three delicious pizzas entirely from scratch; I indulged in one for myself and stashed the other two in the freezer for my family. The aroma wafting from the oven was heavenly, and my pizza turned out exceptionally well, I'm hopeful the frozen ones will retain their taste and texture.
I also managed to take the cover off the pool, revealing the slightly green water beneath. Tomorrow, I plan to tackle the cleaning process and reapply the cover. Even though my day was bustling with tasks from my multiple to-do lists, I still carved out a bit of quality time for my family, which always adds a silver lining to a hectic day. I squeezed in some more writing on my novel, and with each session, I feel like I'm inching closer to my goal.
However, I didn't get around to tackling the overgrown backyard, the weather-beaten deck, the cluttered shed, or the disorganized garage. Tomorrow morning, I need to prioritize the garage to hopefully squeeze in some painting before I return to work. I've already settled on my topic and confirmed that all my materials are ready, but I want to work in a clear space with a refreshed mind.

Planning only......
I do cherish my days off, yet I seldom allow myself a true break. Today, I find myself immersed in the tedious task of filling out applications, a chore that has grown tiresome and monotonous after two long years without much forward movement. The repetitive rhythm of typing feels almost mechanical. In addition to this, I'm preparing for the upcoming work week with a sense of urgency. Tomorrow morning, I need to hit the ground running, particularly since I'll be away for two days later on. I can't shake the desire to dodge the weight of stress that often looms at the end of this cycle.
Not quite what I expected......
My day started with a lengthy list of tasks, but everything shifted dramatically due to the recent storms. The winds were fierce, ripping the cover off the pool and throwing a wrench into my carefully laid plans. My original intention was straightforward: I needed to remove the cover, extract the inflation pillow lying beneath it, give the pool a thorough cleaning, add chemicals back into the pool for its winter hibernation, and then carefully replace the cover. What seemed like a simple series of steps quickly escalated into a daylong endeavor.
Cleaning the pool turned out to be a laborious challenge, taking nearly five hours. Leaves, twigs, and debris had accumulated in a thick layer, transforming the once sparkling water into a murky mess. After finally getting it cleaned and treated, I realized, to my dismay, that the chlorine and stabilizer had failed to vanquish the stubborn algae colony that had settled in. This unexpected setback lingered in my mind as I pondered possible solutions.
As I struggled with the long cleaning pole, I could feel the strain intensifying in the muscles along the right side of my body. By day's end, even lifting my favorite large coffee cup felt like an insurmountable task, my right hand protesting with every movement. Despite taking acetaminophen, the relief was only minimal, and the pain nagged at me.
With the sun dipping low on the horizon, my ambitious list of tasks remained largely untouched. Such days leave a weight on my conscience, and I can't shake the feeling of disappointment. Nevertheless, I'm resolute and eager to tackle the challenges that await me tomorrow, determined to dive into a fresh start and see what I can achieve.
Isn't that special?...
.obvious sarcasm....

Big badda BOOM......
Today did not go as planned. I was running a little behind, but I was determined to hit the ground running. I figured I could still have a decent day despite being two hours and fifteen minutes late. However, the problem arose when I started the car this morning. After getting everything ready and pulling the parking brake, I didn't get more than ten feet down the street before the rear brakes completely failed. That might sound dramatic, but I mean it literally.
I managed to drive the car slowly to Firestone, and once they took a look at the brakes, they pulled me into the shop to show me what was left of them. There was very little remaining of the rear brakes. It ended up being an expensive fix, but now I have new brakes all around. Unfortunately, the process took five hours, and by the time it was finished, it was too late for me to hit the road. I'm not happy about the situation, but at least it's taken care of.
Now, to fight the mood......
I spent five hours in Firestone reflecting on the day, during which I came to some resolutions. When I finally got home, I felt a bit moody. Laura suggested that I visit the Goodwill bins store, and that sounded like a good idea. At the store, I found a new hat that I really liked, and I also picked up some blank canvases for my paintings. These canvases are smaller than what I currently have, or rather, what I didn't have before but now do. When I returned home, I was still somewhat moody, but I felt better able to manage the situation. I'm hoping this improvement lasts. With a bit of luck, I will be able to work twelve-hour days and push through to make up for the money I've lost.
February 19, 2026
Back at it, but slow......
I hit the bustling streets with grand dreams swirling in my mind, though I've begun to wonder if that might have been a misstep. Today unfolded into a grueling 12-hour grind, and despite my efforts, my earnings fell disappointingly short of my expectations. The rhythm of this job has shifted back to an all-too-familiar pattern, where I find myself driving long distances for just a handful of short rides. This trend tends to intensify on Thursdays, so I'm holding onto hope for a turnaround come morning.
Despite the challenges, I managed to push through the day, meeting my time goal, and sometimes that's all we can ask for. For the most part, the riders were pleasant companions, and the day lacked any significant excitement, leaving it feeling somewhat routine.
Still under the weather......
It was a day shrouded in negativity, a thick gray blanket that seemed to press down on everything. I watched as the pendulum of life swung heavily to the negative side, yet deep down, I held on to the hope that it would eventually return to the positive. The only lingering question was when that moment would come.
One of the stark negatives of the day was the seemingly endless traffic snarls. Throughout the city, several accidents unfolded like a tragic ballet, defying reason. The sky was a dull overcast, devoid of sun glare; there was no rain to slick the roads, no fog to obscure visibility. Yet, a troubling string of at least six serious accidents marred the asphalt. One was particularly severe, leading to the closure of a portion of I-240 as emergency crews worked tirelessly to clear the wreckage and assist the injured.
Lunch brought its own disappointment when I unwrapped my sandwich, only to be met with the unwelcome sight of mold creeping over the bread, its greenish tinge a grim reminder of time gone by. Bewildered by this culinary catastrophe, I reluctantly settled for a lackluster steamed hamburger from a nearby gas station, far from the enjoyable meal I had envisioned.
The capstone of this unfortunate day came when I discovered that someone had invaded my personal space by breaking into my car. I say "breaking into," but in truth, they left no visible damage behind. It wasn't until Thursday, during my routine of resetting my dashcam, that I realized something was terribly amiss. As I reached to restart the device, my fingers brushed against empty air; the dashcam was gone, vanished without a trace.
The intruder hadn't stopped there; they rifled through my glove compartment, taking my modest bag of quarters, worth between $8 and $10, a mini toolkit, a pocket knife, and some cherished personal items. Normally, I'm diligent about locking my car, but with it parked in the driveway lately, I had let my guard down. When my routine shifted to street parking, I had stubbornly continued the practice of leaving the car unlocked.
To add to the irony, just last week, I had turned off the automated syncing feature due to limitations on my hard drive's storage. Before that, every time I drove into the driveway and powered up my computer, the dashcam would automatically sync with it, effortlessly downloading the most current footage of my driving. Now, without that crucial feature, I had no way of knowing precisely when the dashcam disappeared. It was yet another twist of irony, a cruel joke played by the universe. I will have to replace the dashcam, but I have no idea when I might be able to afford that. But I am going to go with one of the ones that is wireless! That way I can carry it into the house every day!
Despite the weight of the day's misfortunes, I pressed through, determined to let go of the violation I felt. Once home, I allowed myself a brief moment of relaxation, the burden slowly lifting, before eventually surrendering to sleep.

Not a good day......
Another day of frustration as I travel long distances to do short rides. I spent a lot of time sitting and waiting today and it is not helping me get anywhere near my goals for the day or for the week. This seems to be a trend and no matter what I do, I cannot break it.
Grumble Grumble......
I am currently in a very negative mood, which isn't conducive to making progress on anything. This morning, I went through my routine like a zombie, and by the time I got home in the evening, I could do little more than stare blankly. This isn't a case of depression or a deep funk; it's simply about dealing with the situation as it is. I started this week on a very rocky note, and things haven't improved. However, I pushed through today and recognized that I just need to get through the next two days. Then, I'll be entering a new week with fresh challenges and new opportunities for advancement.
February 21, 2026
Upstream with rocks in the way......
I had hoped that as the weekend approached, I would see some improvement in my experience, but unfortunately, that was not the case. I found myself consistently lagging about five minutes behind schedule on everything plotted on the heat map. Each time I entered a surge area, it seemed to vanish almost instantly, leaving me empty-handed. Whenever I tried to navigate to a different zone, the app redirected me to another location that felt like a world away, often resulting in short rides of only a mile or so. To compound my frustration, I faced long wait times between assignments, often stretching from 15 to 30 minutes. No matter how I repositioned myself, I kept being dispatched to the remote outskirts of Olive Branch, Collierville, or other less desirable areas. It was a disheartening cycle that left me feeling stuck and overwhelmed.
I will not let it get me down......
I believe I'm handling my mornings quite well; however, the challenges begin once I step onto the road. I successfully navigated through my morning routine without any hiccups, even finding the energy to hit the heavy bag and engage in some light exercises since my arm is finally feeling better.
Yet, as the day wears on, I find myself grappling with a wave of mental frustration, largely stemming from my work situation. It feels as though I'm stuck in quicksand; every effort to gain traction brings me no closer to solid ground or clear plans for the future. When I returned home in the afternoon, I sat down with my model and my novel, but I approached them with only a flicker of interest, as if my creativity were a dim candle struggling against a breeze. I can sense that I'm slipping into a rut, and the urgency to find an escape grows stronger. They say the first step to overcoming such a trap is recognizing that it exists, and perhaps that awareness is the flicker of hope I need to reignite my passion.
Sunday...
..Not a fun day....
February 22, 2026
Rally? Nope!......
As I started my day, I held onto the hope that I would rally and get back on track. However, reality quickly proved to be a different story. The first few rides turned out to be incredibly frustrating. I found myself spending between 15 and 30 minutes cruising through the city, only to arrive at locations where the fares were a meager $5 or $6; only to have the riders cancel right as I reached their pickup spots. This frustrating sequence happened three times in a row, costing me nearly three hours and leaving me with a mere $12 to show for my efforts, since I earned just under $4.00 for each of those unfortunate arrivals.
Then, I picked up a passenger from a bustling hotel parking lot in Collierville. He directed me on a winding journey across town, searching high and low for a specific brand of whippet. The fare totaled nearly $60, but as he rambled on about inconsequential topics, I couldn't help but question whether the good payment was worth the energy it took to maintain my composure throughout the ride.
The day took an unexpected turn when I encountered someone trying to pull a fast one by canceling the ride just as we arrived at the destination. Thankfully, Uber managed to resolve the situation swiftly, ensuring I was compensated for the ride. Still feeling irritable, I decided to call the police, as I regarded the incident as a theft of services. In a surprising twist of fate, it turned out that the passengers actually had outstanding warrants and were arrested right in front of me. The police noted my name and address, and a part of me couldn't help but wonder if there might be a reward for my involvement.
Reflecting on the day, it was clear that I didn't come close to achieving my goals, for either the day or the week. The experience was undeniably frustrating, but I refuse to let it get the best of me. I'm determined to move forward into next week with a hopeful heart, praying for better experiences ahead.
Deep breath......
As the week draws to a close, I've been reflecting on the highs and lows I've experienced. Although I faced some frustrating moments, I refuse to let them overshadow my progress. I began my mornings by sticking to my full routine, which unfolded smoothly, but the day soon brought on some work-related stress that tested my patience. Acknowledging my feelings has been crucial, and I'm actively working through these challenges.
After wrapping up the workday, I made a trip to Walmart to gather a few essentials; dim lights flickering above as I navigated the aisles, picking up everything that I need from the week. Once home, I dove into my bookkeeping and housekeeping tasks, feeling a sense of accomplishment as I checked things off my list. With the house blissfully quiet, I found solace in picking up my saxophone, allowing the rich, soulful notes to fill the space, before shifting my focus to my ongoing novel and model project. I had planned to tackle the organization of the garage, but truthfully, the thought of it felt too daunting, and I chose to take a break instead.
Once I settled into a comfortable spot, I caught up on my legend journal for the week, taking the time to reflect and set intentions for the upcoming days. I'm determined to make the next week a positive experience, even with an important appointment looming on the horizon; one with my cardiologist tomorrow. Nevertheless, I'm prepared to face it head-on and keep myself on track.
Looking ahead, I have some significant tasks awaiting my attention. The final chapters of my novel need my creativity and focus, and there's also the backyard that requires some diligent cleanup, especially with the pool demanding care. Additionally, I want to delve into exploring neuropathy and neurofeedback, as I ponder whether this alternative medical approach could be beneficial for me. While these methods are often associated with conditions like PTSD and ADHD, I'm intrigued by the potential they hold for enhancing focus and concentration. Currently, meditation has been my go-to practice for sharpening my mind, yet I sense there's room for growth. It seems worthwhile to explore this path further and see where it may lead me.
Back at it...
..let the fun begin....

A new hope? And not star wars......
Today is Monday, and to my surprise, it has turned out to be an exceptionally rewarding day. I was only able to work six hours instead of the usual twelve due to some personal matters that required my attention. However, I made the most of that limited time; I was intensely focused and remarkably productive, managing to double my income for the day compared to the past ten. This unexpected boost brings a wave of relief, and I can't help but feel optimistic that it marks the beginning of a promising trend rather than merely a stroke of luck.
The rides I completed today were all decent, but what stood out the most was my remarkable efficiency; each time I dropped off a passenger, I was able to pick up another within just two or three minutes. This quick turnaround is a stark contrast to the frustrations I faced over the previous weeks, when I frequently found myself driving long distances for very short fares. Here's hoping this trend of seamless rides continues!
Surprise Surprise......
I find myself surprisingly optimistic about the week ahead. This morning started a bit later than planned due to a glitch with my Uber account, but thankfully, the issue was resolved within thirty minutes. I used the unexpected free time to indulge in some additional yoga, allowing me to stretch and breathe deeply, which helped me center myself and establish a sense of balance for the day ahead.
After a satisfying six-hour shift filled with productive moments, I made my way to the doctor's office for my biannual checkup. Since my last visit, I've noticed quite a remarkable improvement in my health, and it feels gratifying to be on the right track. Although my doctor specializes in cardiology, I took the opportunity to discuss the idea of neurofeedback with him. To my surprise, he expressed an unexpectedly optimistic view. He pointed out that while neurofeedback is still considered a fringe treatment, lacking a solid clinical basis, it has been showing promise for issues like concentration and focus; which is exactly what I seek.
After weighing the pros and cons, I decided it wouldn't hurt to speak with the technicians to dig deeper into the potential benefits. It could be a fascinating addition to my already established routine of meditation and yoga. I also found myself intrigued by the idea of exploring Tai Chi; an art form I had never considered before. I've heard it offers benefits in mindfulness and focus, similar to my current practices.
I'm not particularly concerned about mental decline; I still feel sharp and alert. The real challenge lies in juggling my many commitments, which sometimes makes it difficult to maintain my focus. I guess we'll just have to see what the future holds. After a busy day, I returned home, took some time to unwind, and prepared myself for the adventures that tomorrow will bring.
And away we go...
..not really....
February 24, 2026
Back to normal? Maybe.......
Pushing through today felt like a tentative step back towards normalcy. While it didn't quite reach the heights of yesterday's exhilarating experiences, it was undoubtedly a marked improvement compared to last week. The rides were generally enjoyable, with a pleasant breeze in the air and the sounds of laughter mingling with the thrill of the city. Remarkably, the day was mostly devoid of the usual drama, except for one rather unforgettable incident. A young lady decided to surprise her boyfriend, only to find herself taken aback in return. In an unexpected twist, she tipped me a vintage purse; a beautiful, worn leather piece; simply to distance herself from a young man making unwelcome advances towards a blonde girl on the porch as we arrived.
Overall, I managed to meet my daily goal, although I still felt the sting from the losses I faced yesterday. Nevertheless, there are a few days left in this week, and I find myself eagerly counting down to my much-anticipated time off early next week.
Opportunity knocking......
When I returned home, the warm, inviting aroma of baked potatoes filled the air as I prepared my simple yet satisfying meal. It felt like the perfect comfort food to fuel my anticipation for the day ahead. Tomorrow, I have the exciting opportunity to attend a job fair at Bartlett High School, where various school positions are available. Determined to make a great impression, I carefully laid out my sharp suit, ensuring every detail was perfect. As I organized my essentials for the fair, I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement at the prospect of what lies ahead. After the fair, I'll return home, change into something more comfortable, and reflect on the possibilities the world has to offer. Don't get me wrong;I still find enjoyment in ridesharing, but as I approach the impressive milestone of 7,000 rides in just 18 months, I can't shake the feeling that it's time for a new adventure.
Catch up...
..and schmooze....
February 25, 2026
Caught up.......
I'm not entirely certain how it all unfolded, but somehow, I managed to catch up on everything this week. Even though I had to leave an hour early for a job fair, I pushed myself beyond my usual limits, fueling my determination to get back on track as the weekend approached. With focused effort and a clear goal in mind, I navigated through my tasks, and now, if everything continues to go smoothly, I should be able to glide through the next four days with ease. Then, I can finally look forward to some well-deserved time off to recharge and relax.
Kickin' chicken......
Why are we kicking a chicken today? A whimsical thought that popped into my head, it grabbed my attention and refused to let go until I scribbled it down. This morning, despite leaving the house a bit later than planned, I pushed through the day with surprising ease. I couldn't pinpoint how I managed to catch up this week, but somehow, everything fell into place, and I'm ready to celebrate that small victory.
With just four more days standing between me and a much-deserved two-day break, my mind is already spinning with plans. After work, I ventured into the evening, attending a job fair hosted by the Bartlett School District. I found it intriguing how everyone seemed to steer me toward special education. Numerous people commented on my calming demeanor and soothing voice. It's a compliment I've heard before, yet I still struggle to see that quality in myself.
Regardless, I intend to take the plunge and fill out the comprehensive application on the school board's website during my next day off, making myself readily available for opportunities. They appear to be interested in me for either a paraprofessional role or substitute teaching, which was entirely unexpected but could lead to a fascinating experience. Dressed in my all-black suit and new, polished boots, I know I was overdressed for the casual atmosphere of the fair, yet it seemed to capture attention and spark conversation.
Just swimming...
..But not a fish....
February 26, 2026
And ahead.......
Today, things finally started to come together. Despite feeling tired, I pushed through the day and managed to get a bit ahead for the week. However, my phone has been acting up; by the time I got home, it was below 40%, which is not ideal. I can't figure out what's wrong with it, and it's also not charging quickly, which may be part of the issue. Overall, the riders were fine, and it was an uneventful day, but I'm thankful for that.
The calm, the storm?......
I start to feel a bit uneasy when everything goes too smoothly. Work was straightforward today, and I had a relaxed morning before heading in. The evening was calm as well; I got a chance to work on my novel, and my model and I were able to watch our show together. I even made it to bed at a reasonable hour. Now, if only I could have a night of restful sleep without any dreams, that would be wonderful.
This is just...
..interesting....
February 27, 2026
New stuff. I think.......
I began my day a bit later than usual, but I quickly found my rhythm and got into the swing of things. As soon as I logged on in the morning, I was greeted with my first ride request, and from that moment on, I was in nonstop motion until the afternoon. The fares were notably generous, and with each trip, it felt as though there was an added bonus making the experience even more rewarding. Despite the fact that surge pricing was in effect across all areas throughout the day, I ultimately earned about 25% more than my typical earnings for the mileage I covered. I certainly won't complain about such a fantastic outcome, and I genuinely hope this trend continues.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, I'll be losing an hour or two of driving time since I have a scheduled meeting with Councilwoman Jerri Green for a brief discussion. However, I believe I've accumulated enough momentum at this point that this minor setback shouldn't significantly impact my overall week.
Should I be afraid?......
Everything fell into place beautifully for me today. If I were prone to paranoia, I might argue that it felt almost too perfect. I kicked off my morning with a hearty breakfast that included sizzling sausage, creamy cheese, and warm rye toast slathered with a dollop of sweet jelly. It was a delightful change from my usual fare, as I'm making a conscious effort to shake things up now and then. After my meal, I engaged in some gentle exercise, followed by a session of yoga and meditation, allowing myself a moment to unwind before diving into my Uber work. As the day unfolded, I powered through my tasks with renewed enthusiasm, and, to my delight, everything turned out quite well.
This evening brought an unexpected surprise: I miscalculated who would be home and found the house blissfully empty. The parts for the generator had arrived, and upon closer inspection, I realized I had ordered a full rebuild kit instead of just the carburetor. If that doesn't bring the generator back to life, I'm not sure what will. With the house all to myself, I picked up my guitar, attempting to strum a few songs; though my execution was far from perfect. Then, I seized the opportunity to thrash on my saxophone, letting loose for about half an hour in a joyful jam. My final musical venture was to unpack the violin, with the intent to tune it. Unfortunately, the bow turned out to be a sad sight; shredded and worn, a testament to its three years of service, especially considering it was a thoughtful Christmas gift from Rowan.
With my musical explorations concluded, I turned my attention to my emails, diligently clearing out my backlog. That's one task I can proudly check off my list for Monday. I also double-checked my blog to ensure everything was current; and I was pleased to find it all up to date. My evening wrapped up with some soothing music in the background, a comforting dinner, and a little tidying up in the garage. I have ambitious plans for my upcoming two days off and want to maximize every moment. Cleaning the garage is essential, as it's currently stifling my productivity. Additionally, I need to get the pool ready for spring, ensuring it's clean and treated so it doesn't require extensive work down the line.
Tomorrow, I have a meeting scheduled with Jerri Green, so I figured it would be wise to brush up on her history, demographics, and platform. I feel well-prepared for this meeting, even if it ultimately leads to nothing substantial. There's a flicker of intrigue about her that captivates me, and I hope to uncover what that is when we shake hands. Being an empath can be quite an interesting experience. Years ago, I shook hands with another political figure in Atlantic City, NJ, atop a now-defunct hotel. In that moment, it felt as though I were immersed in a Stephen King novel, catching a glimpse of a haunting future. Regrettably, my naïveté at the time prevented me from recognizing it, and now I find myself living that very future. Hindsight, it seems, can be exceedingly harsh.
The final days...
..such drama....
February 28, 2026
Productive and eventful.......
As I near the conclusion of this work cycle, I find myself reflecting on the journey. Today marks the penultimate day, and it feels as though this chapter is poised to end on a high note, just as I had hoped. Earlier, I needed to step away for about an hour to handle a pressing personal matter, which I briefly noted in the personal area below. However, once I returned, I was able to navigate through the remainder of the day with minimal challenges, staying focused and on track. The sense of accomplishment and anticipation for the final day ahead fills me with renewed energy.
She's not bad......
Aside from work, my day unfolded like any other, with one noteworthy exception. Midway through the workday, I slipped away to my home, where I changed into my tailored black suit, the fabric smooth against my skin. With a sense of purpose, I made my way to Shelby Farms, where the serene landscape served as the backdrop for my meeting with Jerri Green. Councilwoman Green, a spirited candidate for governor in Tennessee, was standing firm in her campaign against Bill Lee. Her platform is compelling and invigorating, embodying the hopes of a forward-thinking Democrat.
I arrived a bit early for my scheduled 15-minute appointment, and as luck would have it, the person before me didn't show. This fortunate twist allowed me to extend our conversation. Sitting across from her, I instantly felt a connection; the dialogue flowed effortlessly as we discussed the pressing issues facing Memphis, Shelby County, and the broader landscape of Tennessee and the United States. Her attentive gaze and open body language conveyed a genuine empathy, making it clear that she shared many of the same concerns weighing heavily on my mind. Her assistant, Summer, sat by taking notes and nodding her head.
This warmth and understanding stood in stark contrast to the current global climate, marred by yet another war that has deepened divisions and heightened tensions around the world. It's troubling to witness the gradual desensitization of people to such events, a phenomenon that never bodes well for the future.
Before I headed to the hustle of work, I had managed to complete my morning routine; an invigorating blend of exercise and meditation that set a positive tone for the day. In the evening, I took a moment to unwind, preparing both mentally and physically for my final day in this work cycle, ready to embark on the next journey ahead.
