The three images for this month point to the direction of where I hope that 2026 goes to. An emphasis on the creative. I only include music here, but there is much more.
Greetings: As we enter a new year, I realize that I barely grasp what happened in 2025. The year passed so quickly that it's quite a blur. This experience isn't unique to me; many people have expressed that they, too, are unsure how the year flew by. Personally, I believe this phenomenon is linked to the constant barrage of news and the daily antics coming from Capitol Hill. Unfortunately, it seems likely that this will continue for at least three more years. All we can do is focus on ourselves and look to the future. Additionally, let's hope and pray to whatever deity you believe in that we can navigate this period with our sanity intact.

The good, the bad, yep, the ugly too.....
The new year has arrived, and while I was initially apprehensive about the changes it might bring, I realize now that I was just overthinking things. Nothing has really changed, and I'm not sure why I expected it to. The world keeps turning, and people remain the same, for better or worse.
Today at work was quite a roller coaster. I experienced some high points and some low points, but in the end, it all balanced out. I have three more days of work before I get a break, and I'm starting to feel the strain. However, I can push through for these last three days and get everything done. I'm on track to meet my goals for the week, which would be a great way to start the year.
More of the same, what fun....
I was running right on time this morning, but then I encountered an unexpected roadblock. When I went to make my lunch for work, I found that my daughter had taken over the kitchen. She was happily preparing poke bowls and had completely commandeered the space. I would never want to squash her creativity in cooking or anything else, so I quickly grabbed a snack for lunch and headed out the door. It was wonderful to see her enjoying something so much.
Before I left, I managed to complete my to-do list for the day, and I'm on track for the week. I need to focus on my drawing and guitar practice, but aside from that, everything is going well. My novel is exactly where I want it, even after making some revisions to ensure everything makes sense, and all is good.
When I got home this evening, I felt much less tired than I have recently, although I wasn't in the mood to cook. I opted for a quick meal and watched some fantasy TV. It was nice to relax, and I hope to do it more often. I do recognize that I have a lengthy list of things to accomplish, especially with my goals for 2026, but that can wait for another day.
It's a cat thing...
..on a rainy day....
January 02, 2026
Rain and a cat.....
The most remarkable thing about my day was a cat I encountered while driving. I spent most of the day on the road, despite the rain and overcast skies. While fueling up near Lakeland, a cat appeared out of the rain and stood beside me. After I finished pumping gas, she approached my car and pawed at the door, as if she wanted to get in. I bent down to give her a scratch behind the ears and noticed that she was wearing a collar. If she hadn't had a collar, I might have ended up taking her home, which would have led to many unanswered questions. She was very friendly, and when she realized I wasn't going to let her into the car, she wandered over to the store and sat by the door. What an interesting cat! Aside from that encounter, the rest of the day was quite mundane and rainy. Driving in the rain all day can be exhausting. However, I did reach my goal before heading home.
Pushing through....
I spent the morning working on my basic routine and the evening relaxing. I am preparing to work on one of my models, but I was very tired from the rainy day, so I didn't dive into that experience. I'm feeling a bit on edge right now, and I'm looking forward to my upcoming two days off.

Routine, but good.....
I spent the entire day trying to catch up because I had a call with my family in Japan first thing in the morning. Thankfully, I managed to rally and get close to my goal for the day. Aside from a couple of annoying riders, the day was mostly uneventful. I found myself all over the map with ride requests, and it seems that many drivers are off the road now that the holidays are coming to an end. The volume of requests was quite high. There's even a quest for next week, which could be helpful. I'm going to count today as a win and move on. I have one more day of work before I'm off for two consecutive days.
Almost there....
Today was unusual. I woke up about an hour late, which was not ideal since there was a scheduled call with the family and Rowan in Japan that morning. Although running late and taking the call disrupted my day a bit, it was well worth it. Rowan is doing well, and his girlfriend, Natsumi, seems like a very nice young lady. Despite her limited understanding of English, she chose to join the call anyway. We had to pause occasionally so that Rowan could translate parts of the conversation, but overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
Unfortunately, taking more than two hours out of my morning meant that I could not complete my usual routine, so I ended up running late to work. Still, as I mentioned, it was worth it to see how well Rowan is doing.
However, today's news did cause some frustration among my riders and a lot of people on social media. The current administration conducted a decisive strike against Venezuela without authorization from Congress. I'm trying my best to observe how things unfold, but it will be challenging not to express negative thoughts in the near future. I'll save those comments for another time.
When I got home in the evening, I settled down with some pasta and meat sauce while working on my model and watching a show. I have one more day of work before I get my two days off, and I am very much looking forward to it. There's a lot I want to accomplish during that time, and I need to get into the right mindset by Monday morning.
The end is here...
..Thank the gods....

Easy out.....
Today marked the last day of my current Uber schedule. While I didn't get too far ahead, I did manage to meet my goal. The riders were generally decent, but some of the trips were a bit frustrating. I ended up traveling as far east as Stanton, then made my way all the way back to Memphis and down into Olive Branch. This journey was enough to push me over my target for the week, but not quite enough to get ahead. I'm really looking forward to the next two days off so I can catch up on a few things.
Just skating through the day....
Today, I was so tired that I felt I just skated through the day. Before work, I took some time to center and balance myself, catching up on a few things I missed yesterday due to the call with Japan. After work, I just ran out the clock, eager to get into bed and prepare for tomorrow. I have a lot on my agenda for the next two days, and I'm hoping to complete everything without getting distracted.
January 05, 2026
Cleaning up.....
I really enjoy the simple days. Today, all I had to do was take care of the bookkeeping for the week, and that was it. I double-checked what is coming up next week, and it appears to be straightforward. Will it actually go that smoothly? I'm not sure. The only significant change for next week is that I need to get an oil change. There's a small task planned for the week, but it might be beyond my reach once I head back to work on Wednesday.
Day one of two....
Today, I successfully balanced productivity with relaxation. My main task was to take care of the front flower bed. I removed all the grass and weeds and laid down mulch. Additionally, I secured the trellis, preparing it for spring. I haven't decided yet what to plant on the trellis, but I'm considering some type of climbing rose. We'll see what happens. I spent much of the day checking items off my to-do list, and I also enjoyed some family time at home, including playing games with Laura. Overall, I'm considering today a positive day, and I'm looking forward to one more day off.
Day two...
..relax and reset....
January 06, 2026
Short preparation.....
Today, I took some time to review the upcoming week, and I found that there is only one quest on the schedule. However, I believe it may be beyond my reach. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning when I head to work, but I'm not optimistic about meeting that goal. I plan to position myself downtown to focus on shorter runs, though that strategy only works about half the time.
On edge....
Today, I find myself feeling a bit more tense than I would prefer. I had hoped to embrace the outdoors for some invigorating physical exercise, but, aside from my usual yoga practice, the motivation to venture out into the fresh air eluded me. I did manage to take a few satisfying swings at my heavy bag, although I really need to mount it securely before it can become a regular part of my routine. Most of my day was spent meticulously working on my airplane model while streaming *Stranger Things*. I've finally reached the gripping season 4 finale, leaving me with just one more season before I complete the series. While it's entertaining, I've found it to be rather predictable at times.
I took a much-needed break from tackling my overflowing back blog, my novel and the website. Sometimes, stepping back and allowing life to flow naturally is essential for mental clarity. Working on the model proved to be a calming activity, and I feel a growing urge to dive into a crossword puzzle book or something similarly stimulating to challenge my mind. I'm still savoring my evening reading sessions, which have finally become a cherished part of my daily routine. As the work week draws begins again, I'm curious to see what new adventures and challenges the next one will bring.
January 07, 2026
That kinda sucked.....
Today turned out to be far from one of my best days. I found myself tangled in personal issues that took longer to sort out than I had anticipated, resulting in an hour delay before I was finally ready to hit the road. As I settled into the driver's seat and turned the key in the ignition, an unsettling feeling washed over me; the charging light flickered to life, and the dashboard erupted in a chaotic array of warning lights, reminiscent of a Christmas tree adorned with too many decorations. In that moment, I felt a wave of relief wash over me when I decided against turning off the engine. Later, I learned that the culprit was a failing alternator, had I switched it off, the car might not have started again.
Instead of my usual route to work, I found myself on my way to Firestone, bracing for the diagnosis and repair of my vehicle. The hours dragged on in the waiting room, filled with the sounds of revving engines and muffled conversations. By the time I walked out three hours later, the bill had climbed to a staggering $1,000, and I left with a shiny new alternator installed.
With all the time lost and the frustration of the day's events weighing on me, I realized most of my day had vanished into thin air. Now, back home, I am facing the daunting task of squeezing 48 hours of work into just four days. It won't be easy, but I'm determined to create an optimized schedule from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. I just need to make it happen!
Bring it on world, bring it on....
I was up and on the move, eager to head back to work, but I found myself needing to tackle some personal issues that delayed me for an extra hour before I could finally hit the road. The clock ticked away as I wrestled with these matters, but once resolved, I turned my attention to my car, giving it the once-over it needed before leaving. In the work section of today, you can find that result.
When I finally stepped into my cave, I felt a surge of accomplishment as I powered through my entire morning checklist, each task checked off brimming me with a sense of pride. Although it was frustrating to have lost part of my workday, I returned home with renewed determination and completed the editing of Chapter 9 of my novel. With that milestone, I could see the halfway point drawing closer on my horizon. If I keep this momentum going with a few more sessions like today's, I'll be wrapping up my manuscript before I know it.
In the midst of my day, I also discovered that the final episode of the poignant series The War Between the Land and the Sea had been released. As I settled in to watch, the heart-wrenching narrative unfolded before my eyes, striking a chord deep within me. The story mirrored the complexities of society, showcasing the tragic decimation of an entire race that, though anticipated, was no less devastating. The method of their destruction was particularly gut-wrenching, a haunting reflection of our own reality. It took me a moment to grasp the main character's proposal for ACCORD, and when I did, the feeling of betrayal felt even more acute. After all, it seems to be in our human nature to create destruction, a troubling truth that resonates with the chaos we currently witness in the world around us.
Later, I took the time to verify my new schedule for the week, battling my eyelids' heavy weight as I forced myself to stay awake and set the timing just right. Now, all that remains is to transform that plan into action.
January 08, 2026
Really universe? REALLY???.....
I hit the ground running this morning, feeling optimistic and ready for a great day. However, as I walked around the corner, I felt as if I were hit in the face with a shovel, not literally, of course, just the universe playing one of its funny little jokes on me. I got into my car, eager to start my first ride of the day, but it was quite hot. When I turned on the air conditioning, it failed immediately. Since I had just replaced the alternator yesterday and the air conditioning was working before, I figured something must have been knocked loose during the repair.
After two more rides, I decided to head over to Firestone. Two and a half hours later, they confirmed that something had indeed been disconnected and fixed it. Unfortunately, that delay added extra time to my day. Now I was already pressed for time with my new daily goal, and my 12-hour shift had turned into a 13-hour shift. I eventually made it to my destination of home, but only by pushing the limits of my exhaustion. And now, I still have 11 more days of this ahead of me.
I feel it already....
My intention was to hit my goals and then head to the gym. However, due to car problems, that plan fell through. I had to dedicate all my time to work, leaving very little time for anything else. Before I headed into work, I managed to spend some time working on my novel and updating the blogs in my journals. I knew that this 12-day schedule would be challenging, but I didn't expect it to hit me so hard on the first day. I hope things will level out soon. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to work on my model or anything else on my list because my time was consumed by work and sleep. I sincerely hope this isn't how my life will be moving forward. I'm sure I'll adjust quickly, but right now, I'm feeling quite negative about it.
Onward, upward...
..and whatever....
January 09, 2026
Now, I am tired.....
The skies were gray and overcast, and the riders seemed indifferent, making the world feel generally dull. I pushed through the day like a melodious juggernaut. It's an odd phrase, I know. I felt as if I were charging forward like a juggernaut, yet dancing to a rhythm that nobody else could hear. Unfortunately, that rhythm was very slow. Even though I plowed through the day, I didn't make any significant progress. I eventually reached my destination, but when I looked up to check the time, I realized the entire workday had passed.
Not feeling it....
I'm feeling increasingly weighed down, and every time I try to shake off this gloom, it pulls me back deeper. The news paints a grim landscape, filled with stories of turmoil and tragedy. Day after day, I hear about PTSD-affected authoritarian figures committing acts of violence in the streets, while their supporters rally around them, justifying the chaos. It's as if government officials have adopted a chilling mantra: if you're breathing, you might as well be a target. I wish I could say that's an overstatement, but it's chillingly accurate. Our leader is spiraling into madness, and it seems no one possesses the courage to challenge his reckless behavior.
This bleak vibe has become an inescapable backdrop as I head to work. There's no refuge from these conversations; they infiltrate every car ride, saturating the air with tension and despair. I find myself gripping the steering wheel tightly, forcing a smile on my face as I nod along to varying opinions, even as my heart feels heavy beneath it all. Life has taken on a monotonous tone, making me yearn for an escape; to the serene shores of New Zealand, perhaps, or to find solace hidden within the vast, towering trees of the Amazon.
In any case, I pushed through the day, which was mostly consumed by work demands. As the hours slipped by, I felt the weight of my ambitions pressing down on me. I am racing against the clock to meet my weekly goals, and with only two days left, the pressure feels insurmountable. Once I cross that finish line, I'll have a another seven days before I get to catch my breath, but already the exhaustion looms large in my mind, casting a shadow over my thoughts.
It's not easy...
..being imperfect....
January 10, 2026
Rough, for a Saturday.....
Since it was Saturday, I expected the rides to be more organized. However, that was not the case. Throughout most of the day, it felt like a "hurry up and wait" situation. I would complete a ride and then wait for about 15 minutes for the next one. While waiting is acceptable when the distances between rides are significant, that wasn't true for this day. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience.
Sicky, icky....
This week has been particularly challenging, especially with the mounting pressures at work. To add to my discomfort, I seem to have caught a nagging chest cold. While I remind myself that it probably isn't as severe as it feels, in the moment, the weight of it all feels truly overwhelming. I noticed the first signs of illness creeping in before my shift started, a tickle in my throat and a slight heaviness in my chest. By midday, the congestion intensified, wrapping itself around my chest and head like a heavy fog. It was far from a pleasant experience. Despite the discomfort, I pushed through the day, tackling tasks with a sense of determination. Once I finally returned home, I made sure to hydrate by drinking plenty of water and took a moment to unwind, allowing myself to relax as much as possible in hopes of feeling a little better.
The end is here...
..well, sort of....
January 11, 2026
Thus, it ends.....
I'll be honest; the titles may be a bit overdramatic for what I'm experiencing, but they capture a hint of the tension I feel. What's truly coming to a close is the work week, a span of days filled with challenges and unexpected disruptions. I got tantalizingly close to reaching my ambitious goal, but ultimately, I fell just short.
Reflecting on the week, it's almost astonishing how much I managed to accomplish given the circumstances. I started the week with two well-deserved days off, only to encounter a setback when my car's alternator malfunctioned, forcing me to take an unexpected third day off. To add insult to injury, I lost precious hours wrestling with a pesky air conditioning issue that made my workspace far from comfortable. When you consider that my workspace is my car, you can see the problem.
While I grapple with disappointment over my performance this week, I have no choice but to acknowledge the hurdles and move forward. Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new chapter, as only seven days stand between me and a much-anticipated break. Let the countdown joyfully commence!
Pushing through the icky....
What began as a mere annoyance yesterday swiftly morphed into a full-blown sickness today. It started with a dull headache that gradually escalated into an intense migraine, pulsating with each beat of my heart. Every few minutes, an overwhelming urge compelled me to blow my nose, desperately seeking relief from the mounting pressure in my head. The car lights coming at me at work felt like spotlights, amplifying the discomfort and making for a torturous 12-hour shift that dragged on endlessly.
Yet, despite the throbbing pain and foggy concentration, I mustered the strength to push through the day. When I finally returned home, I sank into the comfort of my chair, tension melting away as I settled in to watch the highly anticipated final episode of "Stranger Things." Even in the midst of my illness, I found joy in that moment, and all things considered, I'm going to call it a good day.
Not a great day...
..not at all....
January 12, 2026
New week, OUCH.....
These are the times that test our courage, or at least our sanity. As we enter a new week, I'm on a quest to complete 50 rides, but the week isn't starting off well. I'm recovering from an illness, and it seems like a migraine is on the horizon. By the end of the day, the headlights of oncoming traffic were forcing me to close my eyes, which is definitely not ideal. On top of that, my oil light came on, making me feel paranoid about my car's condition. So, I decided to leave about two hours early, hoping to reset and start fresh tomorrow.
Fight the ill, fight it dammit!....
The theme for today is getting back to normal. I have gotten past the hardest part of my illness, but I'm still dealing with the remnants. Unfortunately, that means I have a migraine. This is never a good thing, but it's even worse when you're on the road facing oncoming traffic. Before work, I could feel the migraine building, and it just got worse throughout the day.
I managed to Regions and close out an obsolete account, but I forgot to get my oil changed, which is well past the required mileage. So, I headed home early and decided to shut down for the day. I finished watching "Stranger Things," but I didn't plan ahead and now have nothing else lined up to watch. I tried the pilot episode of "Stargate Atlantis," but I don't think I'm in the mood for that right now. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Up the hill we go...
..keep moving....
January 13, 2026
Bad, then good.....
It was a frustrating day. For the first couple of hours, I was doing small runs and then waiting up to 20 minutes for the next assignment. Thankfully, about halfway through the day, things improved and returned to a more normal pace. Although it didn't happen quickly enough to get everything completely back on track, it was at least a bit better. I dealt with a few annoying riders, but nothing I couldn't handle.
Towards the end of the night, I received one of those scam calls through the Uber line, where they try to trick you into giving them your money. Fortunately, I had written down the Memphis police non-emergency number, and when they attempted to verify my phone number, that's what I gave them. When they called back on the recorded Uber line the second time, I pointed out their mistake, which seemed to frustrate them.
My work here is done. I didn't make as much progress as I wanted, but I did better than I had hoped.
The aftermath....
I am navigating the aftermath of a potential cold, and I'm feeling okay about the day, despite a few annoyances. I managed to clear everything off my plate before heading to work, and I even had time to stop and get my oil changed.
When I got home in the evening, I finished the last of the shrimp plate and decided to watch an episode of "Torchwood." I'm not entirely sure it's what I want to watch, but I figured I'd give it a try. Lately, I've been somewhat indecisive about my evening shows, but I'm confident I'll find something that suits my mood sooner or later.
I'm still a bit congested, but I didn't need to take any medication today, which is a positive sign. Hopefully, each day will bring some improvement.
It is the drudge...
..But I got this....
January 14, 2026
People - BAD.....
I'm not sure what it was about today, but everyone seemed to be in a bad mood. Each passenger I picked up appeared grumpy. The sky was overcast, the temperature was dropping, and there were several accidents around the city. One significant accident resulted in two injuries and two fatalities, causing I-55 to shut down for hours. At the same time, on I-40 and the other bridge, two of the three lanes were closed for emergency repairs, which effectively cut off Arkansas for an extended period. This was especially painful for me, as a lot of my business comes from that area in the evenings.
Still recovering....
Thankfully, the migraine is gone, but I still have a lingering headache. The negative moods of my riders are starting to affect me, and the traffic was very frustrating. I'm still a bit stuffy, but I'm getting better each day. I worked on my novel this morning, but I didn't feel very inspired. I arrived home a little early and found out that Laura had bought me some presents while she was out shopping: a new T-shirt and a warmer for my coffee cup. Both are quite exciting! I wanted to stop by the gym this evening, but I really need to wash my gym outfit, and I'm still too stuffy for any heavy exercise. I've settled in to watch "Torchwood," though I'm not sure if it will hold my interest long-term. I'm both in the mood for it and not at the same time. I need some kind of mental distraction, and it might just do the trick.
Almost there...
..Three more days....
January 15, 2026
Normal? What is that?.....
Things have settled down a bit, and people are mostly returning to a normal routine. I've had a mix of good rides and bad rides, along with some good wait times and some bad ones. However, at least things aren't as lopsided as they used to be. I was starting to feel like I would have to endure 20-minute waits between rides indefinitely. Today, there was a delay with every other ride, which is an improvement. I hope this signals the start of resolving the issues. I'm on track to meet my lower goal but am optimistic that I can improve those numbers over the next three days.
Tired....
I was really rushed this morning before heading into work, so I wasn't able to complete my entire to-do list. Thankfully, I managed to catch up on everything when I got home in the evening. However, I was exhausted. I had to push myself to the limit to catch up and get back on track for my weekly goal. I was hoping to finish strong this week, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen. I can't believe there are still three days left. Time feels like it's playing tricks on me, and they're not fun tricks.
A lot of the anxiety comes from people being scared again because of the current political climate. With reports of government agents shooting innocent people in the face and our leader talking about invading Greenland, it feels reminiscent of 1932, and yet people are allowing this to happen. I just don't understand it. I know I should try to let it go, but that's a trap too. When you witness atrocities and fail to act, you become complicit. However, I also realize there's little I can do as just one person in this vast ocean of humanity. That realization is another trap. I'm just so tired.
Still can't get it ...
..to come together....
January 16, 2026
I do not like this trend.....
This trend is really starting to frustrate me. It feels as though the Uber algorithm is attempting to balance the ride distribution, but it's definitely not working in my favor. I frequently find myself landing one decent ride, only to be followed by a string of four disappointing ones. The bad rides often come with a considerable distance between pick-ups, and they tend to be quite short once I arrive. For example, I might spend 20 minutes navigating through traffic to reach a passenger, only to receive a measly $5 fare for my efforts. After enduring several of these frustrating experiences, I might finally stumble upon a single good ride.
Lately, I've noticed a lack of fellow drivers on the roads, which leaves me without anyone to compare my ride availability to. This isolation adds to the overall dissatisfaction I'm feeling. Despite putting in long hours; between 11 and 12 a day, I'm barely managing to meet my goals. With the holiday season coming to a close, I had hoped for an uptick in riding demand, but reality seems to suggest otherwise. It's becoming quite bothersome, and I can't shake the feeling that something has to change.
The personal side....
Recently, I have been focusing on getting as much done at work as possible. However, this effort is not yielding the results I hoped for, and it's becoming increasingly frustrating. I did manage to move the new heavy bag rig into the garage, but I haven't set it up yet. By the time I get home in the evening, I'm exhausted and just want to relax before bed.
With my time off approaching, I'm looking forward to making creamy German meatballs. I'm also officially at the halfway point of the novel I'm writing and halfway through my journey to quit smoking. However, these accomplishments feel like hollow victories right now because my mood doesn't reflect the positive side of my actions. I really need a break, and I'm hoping that the upcoming two days off will help.
One more day ...
..and pushing....
January 17, 2026
Tricky algorithm......
I was pushing through my day and finally starting to have a decent time when I got hit with what felt like a monkey wrench, though not a literal one, just a frustrating surprise from the Uber algorithm. Usually, when I receive a ride request, I glance at the statistics and hit accept since I don't decline assignments. However, today was different.
An unusual request popped up, without presenting the usual statistics. As I was driving, I didn't pay close attention and simply accepted it. I later realized that it was a stacked reservation, which is uncommon. I was already on a ride with another request queued behind it. Unfortunately, that's when I discovered why it was stacked. I had to head to the airport and wait in the lot for 30 minutes before picking up a young college student bound for Oxford.
This journey took about 90 minutes each way, effectively consuming the rest of my day. With only $50 for a total of three hours of work, these college runs aren't worth it, which likely explains why the request didn't show detailed statistics beforehand. In speaking with the rider, I learned that several drivers had rejected the ride before I accepted it.
I have one more day of driving left this week, and then I'll be off for two days, which I'm really looking forward to.
Bone weary....
I have just one more day before my two-day mini vacation, and I have big plans for my time off. I'm really looking forward to it. This morning, I managed to clear my to-do list before leaving the house, but it was a bit hectic. Things were a little out of the ordinary because Laura's family is in town. Since the ladies were preparing to spend the day with the family, things were hectic as I headed off to work. We quickly overcame the morning chaos, though.
The day was overcast, and a brisk chill filled the air. I'm still battling a relentless case of sniffles, but at least the headache is gone. I made sure to pack my lunch and hit the road. Despite the inconveniences of driving today, I found the college student heading to Oxford quite interesting. I also drove a mother to her daughter's wedding, which would normally not stand out, but this was a Victorian Gothic wedding between two brides: one a neurosurgeon and the other a State Farm agent. They were getting married in a Gothic museum downtown, and the mother was anxious to ensure everything was in order for the ceremony, especially with the thousands of black roses involved.
I was offered the chance to stick around and see the setup, and believe me, the temptation was strong. However, I decided against it. When I finally got home in the evening, it was just before the ladies returned, marking a long day for all of us. I focused on relaxing, knowing that I have just one more day to get through. As I turned on my music, I realized I had a cat with me, which is unusual.
January 18, 2026
The last day......
Today was an incredibly long day. No matter how hard I tried, I still fell short of my final goal by $22.00. By the end of the day, I ran out of time and couldn't fit in just one more run.
There was a bit of drama near the airport when a woman tore off her top and confronted a man in a gas station parking lot. They started fighting, and I noticed that others were about to get involved, so I decided to take my riders and leave before things escalated further. Thankfully, I didn't see any reports about it in the news later, so I assume no one was hurt.
It's disheartening that my first thought was of potential gun violence, but it seems to happen too often in Memphis. I left early and arrived home sooner than usual. Now, I'm ready to rest.
Rest, but not yet....
This morning, I tried to beat the algorithm by hitting the road very early, and I believe it helped a little, but not enough. I completed the essential tasks on my list before leaving the house and then let fate take its course. When I got home in the afternoon, I was ready to call it a day. I have a lot going on over the next two days, and I just needed some rest. I did unpack the stand for my heavy bag, but aside from that, I relaxed and enjoyed the evening.

The easy life......
Today, I focused on managing the spreadsheet for the week, ensuring everything from this cycle was accurate. It was relatively straightforward, but neither Laura nor I have had the time to create the 2026 spreadsheet yet, so we're still working with 2025. We definitely need to address that sooner rather than later.
Let's be German!....
I also took advantage of my day by assembling the heavy bag stand and getting the bag set up. I spent about half an hour practicing on the bag, and I think it will serve its purpose well. I should remember to thank Willow for that Christmas gift!
After that, I turned my attention to some German cooking and made Konigsberger Klopse, or creamy German meatballs. The recipe was quite intricate, and I was initially hesitant to use an entire jar of capers, but the dish turned out much better than I had anticipated. I also used leftover baked potatoes as a base and turned them into mashed potatoes. I didn't have any beets or spinach on hand to round out the meal, but it still tasted pretty good considering everything.
Since it was my first day off, I spent some quality time with my wife, which was lovely. Part of our time together involved trying to troubleshoot the dishwasher issue, but it seems there's more at play than just a faulty heating element. There are several other parts that could potentially be the problem. Without the right equipment, we might have to replace one part after another until we find the actual issue. It's going to be a tough decision.
As evening approached, I planned to enjoy my weekly frozen pizza, but I realized I forgot to add it to the shopping list. No worries, though. Instead of putting it on the next list, I decided to make a pizza from scratch, and it turned out excellent! I even used the leftover anchovies from the meatball recipe. I could only finish half of it, which means I get to enjoy the other half for breakfast tomorrow.
A day of rest. Right? ...
..Not so much....

Preparations......
Today, my goal was to prepare for the next 12 days. I needed to ensure that the car was ready, as we are anticipating an unpredictable snowstorm. It could either be minor or cause significant disruptions in the region. I've done everything I can to prepare for whatever may come. I still have a malfunctioning oxygen sensor, but fixing it will have to wait for now. The only consequence of this issue should be a slight decrease in fuel efficiency, and I will manage it for the time being.
Not nearly as planned....
This is the second of two days off. I had grand plans for the day, but they slipped my mind. I started with my usual meditation and exercise, along with about half an hour on the heavy bag. It seemed like it was going to be an excellent day until the heat downstairs stopped working. With a blizzard looming, I couldn't afford to put that off. I called the HVAC company, and since we have a contract with them, they were able to send someone out right away. Thankfully, there was nothing seriously wrong with the unit; the potential failure was most likely caused by the repeated brownouts that morning. We never determined the cause of the brownouts, but they were affecting the entire neighborhood. Overall, the air conditioning and heating service took about three hours out of my day. I managed to take care of some archives and even made meatballs and sub rolls. By the time that was done, it was evening, and the day was almost gone. Now, I'm facing twelve days of work ahead, and I'm not looking forward to it.
A good start? ...
..or a false start....

1 down, 11 to go......
Today was quite challenging. It seems we are short on drivers again, which meant I was sent on long trips for very short fares. As a result, I didn't make much money for the time I worked. I did manage to get over into Arkansas, but as soon as I crossed the bridge, I was pulled over by a state trooper who informed me that I had a headlight out. Fortunately, he didn't issue a ticket, likely due to the incoming storm; they were just being courteous. I immediately went to AutoZone to get a replacement. I installed it, but the headlight still wouldn't light up, which was frustrating. After removing it and putting it back in a second time, it still didn't work. On the third attempt, it finally turned on. Just a little annoyance while driving in the rain.
The riders I had today were particularly unique, with each having their own quirks, but two stood out. The first was a reservation I picked up just seven minutes before they were due, but they were 30 minutes away. I tried to communicate as effectively as possible and arrived as quickly as I could. It was a father and daughter heading to a ceremony that turned out to be only a mile away in Marion, AR. When we arrived, we couldn't find the location. I ended up waiting for 15 minutes while the father called around to get directions. Eventually, we discovered they were actually a week early for the event. Not wanting to lose the pre-arranged plan, I drove them back to their house and dropped them off.
The other memorable rider was a mother and her son, who were traveling from a hotel in Southaven, MS, to a large house in Cordova. Their home had been destroyed by a tornado over a month ago, and they had been living in a hotel ever since. Why is this significant? Because I drive a Kia Soul, and they had brought their belongings with them. We managed to fit everything in, but just barely. Overall, it was an interesting day.
I can feel it in my bones....
The title of this section is significant because I can truly feel it in my bones. Every joint in my body hurts, and I suspect that has something to do with the impending cold and ice. I had plenty of time before work to get things in order, and it started off as a pretty good day. However, dealing with Uber put a bit of a damper on things, but I managed to push through.
When I got home in the evening, I was exhausted; something that's happening more frequently. I spent some time on the heavy bag this morning and stuck to my routine of exercise, yoga, and meditation. Nonetheless, my hands and feet are killing me, and I admit I'm a bit anxious about what this weekend will bring with the incoming storms. There's a lot happening in the world right now, and it's hard to believe we are already three weeks into the new year.
Finally, a break ...
..will it hold?....

Clockwork......
Every once in a while, you have a day where everything falls into place perfectly. This was one of those days. With a snowstorm on the way, I found myself wondering how people would react. As expected, many headed to the store, only to leave disappointed by the empty shelves. Throughout the day, my assignments were closely packed and back-to-back, leaving me with only two brief moments when I wasn't working on something. I accomplished my goals for the day and then some. Hopefully, this is a trend that continues. The next couple of days are forecasted to bring snow and ice, which will likely keep less experienced drivers off the road and make things more challenging for the rest of us.
A bit of frustration....
I started my day feeling frustrated because of the generator. It hadn't been started in a while, and I managed to get just a little hiccup out of it before it gave up completely. I need to change the spark plug, but that's a lesson in frustration. The way the spark plug is positioned makes it impossible to access directly without a special tool. I have the tool; I just can't find it despite searching everywhere. Before I left for work, I was unable to remove the spark plug, which means changing it will be difficult. Unfortunately, this delay forced me to postpone many of my morning tasks.
When I got home in the evening, I came up with the idea of removing the fuel tank to gain access to the spark plug, and that worked. While I was at it, I looked up the procedure to drain and replace the gas, and I should be able to tackle that tomorrow. Despite having a good day at work, everything else felt a bit frustrating as everyone prepares for the looming storm. We're all hopeful that it will just bring a little snow and then move on, which would be nice.
Nice and toasty ...
..To bitter cold....

Who moved the rock?......
Today was a shorter workday for me, about two hours less than usual, due to taking care of some household items. In the end, I only came up $9 short when everything was tallied. However, the biggest issue I faced was dealing with a series of negative riders.
One passenger, a religious zealot, threatened to give me a bad rating unless I converted to Christianity and abandoned my "evil ways." Another passenger was a pregnant woman who had her phone on speaker the entire ride while her boyfriend broke up with her. Lastly, I encountered someone attempting to pull a very transparent scam.
This passenger set up a ride with a stop, and after completing the first stop, she added another. Once we reached that second stop, she canceled it and returned to the original destination, which was also where we began. The intention behind this was clear: she wanted to pick up some items at that second stop. I was not in the mood for this game, so when she changed the destination, I told her we were continuing to our initial drop-off point. When she asked if she could just run in to grab something, I said no.
Things escalated quickly, and it turned out she didn't have enough money on her card for her purchases, which caused further problems and made her very angry with me. Considering she was underage for tobacco and was headed to two tobacco shops, I wasn't too concerned about it. It was late in the evening, and I was tired. I know it sounds petty, but I believe I handled that situation well, and I blocked her afterward, so I won't have to deal with her again. She had a very low rating, so I'm fairly certain she's tried this before.
The most pressing issue today, however, is the impending storm. If the forecasts are accurate, we are expecting the worst snowstorm in recent history. The temperature dropped a full 20 degrees in just two hours, and by the time I got home, it was bitterly cold. I'm unsure what this will mean for the weekend, but all we can do is hunker down and do our best. I plan to work unless the roads become completely impassable.
Here it comes....
The theme for today is the incoming storm. According to all news agencies, this is expected to be the biggest snowstorm of the season, blanketing most of the United States. Here in Memphis, we have transitioned from severe ice warnings to heavy snow, which is supposed to begin tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, my generator wouldn't start, so I had to stop and buy a new spark plug. I also needed to refill it with gas, and altogether, those errands took two hours out of my day.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was getting fuel at Murphy's; the line was enormous. Of course, fuel prices are rising due to the storm. I managed to take care of that, but I still haven't started the generator because I need to drain it first. I hope to find time to do that in the morning.
Mentally, I'm coping well with everything going on, but physically it's a different story. My hands, legs, and back ache terribly, which I suspect has something to do with the weather; at least I hope so. I still have some congestion and am feeling stuffy, but I think it improves a little each day.
I'm only a few days into my current Uber driving stint, and I have about nine more days to go. It feels like a long time ahead, and it also means I haven't had time for art, music, or writing. I'm just too tired. However, I believe things will get better. I'm sure of it.
The snow, boss ...
..the snow....

Slip sliding away......
When I woke up this morning, I found a blanket of snow covering the ground. I decided to go out early, and I believe it was the best choice I could have made. I got stuck a few times, but nothing I couldn't handle. The biggest challenge was driving on the icy and snowy roads, which was extremely stressful. While I didn't encounter too many problems on most roads, I saw several vehicles off the road and many people struggling to get up small hills. This made me quite anxious, and by the end of the day, I was a bundle of nerves.
When I finally decided to call it a day around 3:00 PM, I went to get gas, only to find out that the gas stations in the area were closing for the day because conditions were expected to worsen. Overall, it was a decent day, but it could have been much better if I could have stayed out longer. Sometimes, you have to weigh your personal safety against potential rewards, and I believe I made the right decision.
Annoyance, thy name is Genny....
The most significant annoyance of the day is the generator. We purchased this generator at a discount nine years ago, but one of the issues we were unaware of at the time was its questionable carburetor. I did everything I could to get it started today, including stopping to buy some starting fluid and carburetor cleaner, but nothing seemed to revive it. This leaves us with a couple of options: either replace the generator or get some aftermarket parts and rebuild it. We'll sleep on the issue, but I believe rebuilding it is the most viable choice.
Thankfully, despite the winter storm we're facing, the power has remained stable. One concern with this type of storm is the potential for freezing rain, which can bring down power lines and trees. Luckily, that hasn't happened. However, these storms make the roads nearly impassable, creating a significant issue for someone who drives for Uber.
When I got home after wrestling with the generator some more, I decided to make calzones; something I haven't made in a long time. They turned out pretty well. I'm unsure what the next few days will bring, but I can't help feeling apprehensive about the possibility of being stuck inside.
Is this a good day? ...
..or a bad day?....

Snow becomes ice......
Everything changed when the gentle flurry of snow transformed into a relentless mix of sleet and freezing rain. As someone who had always prided myself on my ability to navigate even the most challenging driving conditions, I found myself unexpectedly confined to my home. Outside my front door, six inches of hardened, icy snow lay like a stubborn barrier, making it impossible to venture out and even get my car out of the driveway.
Instead of feeling frustrated by my sudden isolation, I decided to make the most of the situation. I settled down with my computer and turned my attention to updating my weekly spreadsheet, a task I had been putting off. As I meticulously entered the figures, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment as I reviewed my income for the week. Although it wasn't what I had hoped for, I reminded myself that risking a treacherous drive on icy roads wasn't worth the potential for disaster.
With the storm raging outside, I took a moment to appreciate the warmth and safety of my home, reflecting on how sometimes, unforeseen circumstances can lead to moments of introspection and organization.
What do you do when the day is down?....
Being homebound presented quite the predicament for our little trio. With all three of us cooped up inside, the palpable threat of a power outage loomed ominously overhead, though thankfully, it never materialized. Despite the comforting presence of one another, the sense of confinement slowly began to gnaw at our spirits, like a persistent shadow in an otherwise bright room. After some spirited brainstorming, we decided to embark on our own personal adventures to break free from the day-to-day monotony that had settled in around us.
To my surprise, my journey unfolded into an impromptu oil painting session. I transformed the kitchen into my creative haven, positioning myself at the bay window that framed a picturesque view of our yard, frozen and missing the vibrant rhythms of nature. The sunlight streamed in, casting a warm, golden glow across my canvas, igniting an array of colors that mirrored the lively scene outside. With each brushstroke, I found an unexpected muse in the rich palette of greens, blues, and bursts of floral colors that danced before me. I owe this burst of inspiration to Willow, whose encouraging words nudged me to explore this artistic path and take a moment for myself. It was a delightful escape, allowing my worries to fade as I became lost in the splashes of color and the soothing cadence of my thoughts.
Though my artistic endeavor couldn't completely erase the underlying frustration of my meager weekly pay or the looming uncertainties that awaited us tomorrow and beyond, it did help me cultivate a sense of balance amid the chaos. The act of painting was both therapeutic and liberating, providing a brief respite from the pressures of everyday life.
Later, I dedicated some time to kindling a fire for Laura. The fireplace crackled invitingly, but coaxing the flames to life required a bit of patience and some delicate maneuvering. However, once the fire caught, it enveloped the room in a cozy, warm embrace, creating an inviting atmosphere that not only warmed the space but also our hearts. Sitting together in that glow, I realized that while I wasn't exactly thrilled about having to stay home instead of being able to work, I had learned to embrace this unexpected pause. It provided a unique opportunity to find solace in the small moments of creativity, connection, and shared warmth; the little treasures that often go unnoticed in our busy lives.
Snow day! ...
..Not again....

The roads are still not safe......
Today hasn't unfolded as I had hoped, but I'm doing my best to navigate the challenges. The roads remain perilous for ordinary driving, their surfaces slick and treacherous under a thick layer of frozen snow, hardened by the biting cold. I'm cautiously optimistic that conditions will improve by tomorrow morning. Venturing out right now would feel like chasing after a dime while disregarding a dollar slipping away; too risky for my comfort. Thus, I'll stay put and wait for safer circumstances.
Starting to get antsy....
I can't say I'm thrilled about not being on the road today, but I'm trying to make the most of it. This morning, I immersed myself in my novel, allowing my imagination to flow freely across the pages. I took breaks to do some light exercises, feeling the tension ease from my muscles, and even indulged in a gentle yoga session, embracing the tranquility it brought.
However, I ran into a frustrating obstacle while attempting to clear up a long-term project that has been on my mind. Since stepping off the truck, I've been meaning to transfer my collection of lucid dreaming videos to my tablet. Today, I finally found the time and discovered, to my dismay, that the entire directory had been utterly scrambled.
A little over a year ago, I faced a devastating computer crash, which I thought I had managed to recover from by salvaging most of my software, programs, and media. Unfortunately, it appears that my precious lucid dreaming content has become a casualty of that incident and is now irrevocably lost. Initially, the thought of abandoning the project crossed my mind, but instead, I opted for a more optimistic approach. I decided to dive into the vast ocean of the internet and download around 50 hours of new media to breathe life back into the project.
After I finished my downloads, I took a moment to preview the fresh content before heading to bed, hopeful that tomorrow I'd successfully transfer it all to my tablet and finally wrap up this chapter of my journey.
On another note, I recently completed watching the entire Torchwood series, and now I find myself adrift in a sea of boredom without anything to watch. Yet, amidst the restlessness, a spark of eagerness stirs within me, urging me to get back on the road. Fingers crossed that tomorrow will unfold with productivity and purpose.
Back at it ...
..What a restart....
January 27, 2026
Slip, sliding away......
The roads around here aren't in the best shape, but for the most part, they're manageable if you're willing to take your time. However, that's where the trouble begins; many drivers seem to be in a hurry, leading to a rise in frustration levels, which often results in them getting stuck. When they find themselves in a bind, their irritation only compounds, escalating the situation further.
I had been eagerly looking forward to exploring Memphis throughout the day, driven by the anticipation of the vibrant city. Yet, my plans took an unexpected turn when I received a request to pick someone up at the airport. Curiously, there were no planes landing or taking off at the time, but I rolled with it. The passenger was a professor leaving a conference about crocodile teeth; a rather fascinating topic that piqued my interest.
After navigating the winding roads, I finally arrived in Jonesboro, only to face yet another setback: the Uber app suddenly went offline. I found myself waiting impatiently for nearly an hour and a half for the app to restart, all the while heading back to Memphis. It was incredibly frustrating to lose that much time, especially after the effort I had put into the drive.
In the end, I wrapped up my day with a decent earnings tally as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple. Still, the almost two-hour delay felt like a heavy weight. I did encounter a few tricky spots on the roads, but somehow managed to navigate out of those predicaments. It was evident that many fellow drivers and passengers were drained, and I could empathize with their exhaustion after a day filled with unpredictable challenges.
Slow and steady....
I pushed through my morning routine with a determined focus, moving from one task to the next as I readied myself for the day ahead. The cold penetrating my workspace, inspiring me to tackle the next chapter of my novel. With a sense of accomplishment, I typed out the final words, and when I checked my progress, I discovered I had just 90 pages left to edit before my manuscript would be ready for publication. I estimated that completing the editing would take about nine dedicated sessions. Once that is finished, I planned to dive into a full read-through of the novel, envisioning the moment when it would finally be complete.
In the evening, as I settled back at home, I realized I had just watched my last episode of "Torchwood." A wave of uncertainty washed over me as I browsed for something new to immerse myself in. I pressed play on "Falling Skies," but I hesitated; the oppressive weight of its dystopian themes felt overwhelming after a long day. My fatigue began to settle in, so I decided to prepare for a restful night by setting up my lucid dreaming videos, hoping they would transport me to a more serene place before I drifted off to sleep.
Stress ...
..the word for today....

Snow and Ice, not really nice......
Today unfolded like any other winter's day, a canvas of glittering snow and shimmering ice. After working for a solid eight hours, I felt completely drained, each muscle in my body heavy with fatigue. While many of the main roads were navigable, some neighborhoods resembled a chaotic winter wonderland, with snow piled high and icy patches lurking beneath. As the temperature gradually climbed, the top layer of ice began to crack and break apart, transforming the driving experience into a treacherous game of maneuvering through hidden obstacles.
I found myself stuck not once, but twice; each time a consequence of another driver creeping along far too slowly for the icy conditions. While I understand that many can feel apprehensive behind the wheel in such weather, I can't help but think that if the anxiety is that overwhelming, perhaps it would be wiser to stay off the roads. I know this perspective might come across as harsh, but the ripple effect of one person's hesitance can disrupt the entire flow of traffic. I witnessed several frustrating instances where a single vehicle at the front would abruptly halt, causing a backup that rippled through the line, leaving everyone else helplessly stalled. It's a precarious situation, and given the forecast, it seems unlikely to improve anytime soon.
Time is funny....
Navigating through the ice and snow has turned my daily routine into a daunting challenge. Each morning, I rise from bed, feeling the weight of exhaustion pressing down on me, fully aware of the winter wonderland that awaits outside my door. The crisp air and glistening frost may look enchanting, but they also promise a day filled with struggle. As I work from sunrise to sunset, the fatigue wraps around me like a heavy blanket, thickening with each hour spent battling the chill. When I finally return home, all I crave is to curl up in a warm cocoon of blankets and slip into a world far removed from the harsh cold outside. Even in the sanctuary of my home, time seems to crawl as I anxiously count down to bedtime, longing for the comfort of sleep. I can only hope for the day when this relentless winter finally comes to an end.
Good days ...
..bad days....
January 29, 2026
Good money, but......
It was one of those days that felt like it was being pulled in two directions at once. On one hand, the earnings were impressive, providing a sense of accomplishment and relief. On the other hand, navigating the city had become a daunting challenge. The Department of Transportation and the city services division had worked diligently to keep the main thoroughfares clear and passable, but the secondary roads and quieter neighborhoods had been all but ignored.
Every turn I made into a neighborhood was met with a disheartening sight: 6 to 8 inches of slushy, melting snow that clung to my tires like an unwelcome guest. Each time I found myself stuck, the anxiety surged within me, as I grappled with the frustrating reality of having to free my vehicle from the icy grip of the winter aftermath. Despite my efforts to extricate myself, the experience was relentlessly stressful, a stark reminder of the relentless weather's impact on my day. With temperatures expected to drop further and everything refreezing, I couldn't shake the feeling that the challenges were only going to escalate.
Concentrating on work....
At the moment, my primary focus is on work, but the weight of stress has been robbing me of a good night's sleep, leaving me to navigate my mornings like a half-awake zombie. Each day feels heavier; by the time I stumble through my front door, I'm a tightly wound bundle of frayed nerves, my mind racing with tasks yet to be completed. I hold onto the hope that this challenging period is just a fleeting moment in time and that things will shift for the better as the snow and ice gradually melt away, restoring a sense of calm.
This evening, I took a proactive step to declutter my mind by organizing files on the storage drives, creating a more coherent system. The satisfaction of seeing everything neatly arranged provided a welcome sense of accomplishment. However, the real crisis struck when I finally settled down in bed, only to realize I had forgotten to plug in my tablet. That small oversight threw a wrench in my evening routine, reminding me how important consistency can be, especially during times like these.
Friday ...
..with a side of ice....
January 30, 2026
Still pushing......
I am nearing the end of this cycle, but I continue to grapple with the relentless ice and snow. For most of the day, I found myself slipping and sliding, struggling to maintain my footing on the treacherous surfaces. Thankfully, I managed to avoid any accidents, which feels like a small victory in itself. I'm pleased to report that I'm ahead of schedule and over budget, and I'm hoping to sustain this momentum throughout the weekend. A new quest kicked off this morning, but with the current road conditions resembling a winter wonderland turned obstacle course, meeting that goal seems unlikely. For now, my focus is simply on staying afloat this weekend and making it to Monday in one piece.
Unfortunate but true....
Unfortunately, my primary focus right now must be on work. The relentless stress from the swirling snow and treacherous ice has created an environment where, before I even head out, all I can manage is to take a deep breath and seek a sense of equilibrium. By the time I finally return home, I'm utterly drained, left with little more energy than to collapse onto the couch and stare blankly at the wall. This isn't about grappling with mood or depression; it feels more like an instinctive response to my surroundings. The daunting challenge of navigating through such harsh weather has become overwhelming, consuming all my mental and physical resources, and as a result, I find myself slipping behind on even my most basic daily tasks.
Halfway there ...
..I can do this....
January 31, 2026
Down, but feeling optimistic......
Today, I'm feeling a bit gray and subdued, yet there's an underlying current of optimism as I look forward to the weekend. Yesterday turned out to be quite productive; I managed to navigate through my tasks effectively and can finally see the end of this journey in sight, with completion anticipated by tomorrow. Though the rides I took were on the pricier side, they were relatively short distances, which allowed me to make significant strides toward my goals. It appears that I'm on track to meet my modest target, and I might even surpass my more ambitious one. With another full day ahead of me, I'm holding onto hope.
The roads have been notably treacherous, especially in the more residential areas. Public works has done an impressive job of clearing the main thoroughfares, transforming them from icy challenges into safe passageways. However, the secondary roads remain largely untouched, with patches of snow and ice creating dangerous conditions. The daytime warmth is starting to melt some of the accumulation, but as night falls, the temperatures drop again, quickly refreezing any melted surfaces into a slick, hard layer. Fortunately, it looks like relief is on the horizon for early next week, but we still have to wait a few more days before truly experiencing a thaw.
Making some progress...
I'm not entirely sure if the weight of my stress has lightened today or if I'm simply starting to adapt to my circumstances. This morning, I managed to immerse myself in my journals, pouring out my thoughts and reflections like a stream of consciousness. It was cathartic. I even made some solid progress on my novel, which felt rewarding before the busy workday began.
When I returned home, I quickly prepared a nourishing meal, some fried rice, savoring each bite as I allowed myself to appreciate the flavors and textures. Afterward, I took some much-needed time to unwind, perhaps it was a cup of strong coffee and a few moments of quiet, letting the hectic day slowly fade away.
To shake off some lingering frustration, I spent time working with the heavy bag. The rhythmic impact of my punches and the satisfying thud it made as I struck it helped clear my mind, allowing me to channel my energy into something productive. There's something soothing about the repetitive motion, letting the stress of the day dissipate with each jab and cross. If this calm trajectory continues, perhaps we'll soon find ourselves stepping back into a version of life we once called normal, a life that's felt distant for so long.
However, one thing that truly gnaws at me is the relentless passage of time. Today marks the last day of January, and it's astonishing how this month has slipped through my fingers like sand, leaving hardly a trace in my memory. Each day feels like a blur, filled with moments that seem fleeting and insubstantial. This unsettling feeling shadows my thoughts about the entire previous year; it's almost as if time is playing tricks on us. I've spoken with others who share this disquieting sense of dislocation, amplifying the eerie sensation that we're all floating through moments that barely register, disconnected from the past and uncertain about what's to come.
February is now available Time to jump to February, 2026
